    Thank you so much, my friend. I have been trying to fix the window on my wife's escape for several days. She had the exact same problem verbatim. Window rolled halfway down, wouldn't roll up, etc. I removed the motor and saw the regulator cable underneath it, just as you did. When I saw that was the source of a problem I thought to myself that it seemed like something I could fix I've had at least three mechanics tell me it wasn't possible to fix. Clearly they were misinformed.

    Take that dang bolt out and it probably spun cause the rubber is bad spin it by hand to line bolt holes up

    Oil and filter change ever 6 months or 5k miles which ever comes first any big name oil (I stay away from super tech unless I'm broke) look on here for oil filter test by engineers for filtering ability and pick a brand. I like Mobil 1 right now. Good luck.

    Any modern synthetic oil will go longer than 5000-6000 miles. I just follow the vehicle manufacture guidelines and never had an issue. Oil today is much better than even 30 years ago

      @@chaddarnold1 the oil may last longer but contamination in the engine is still a problem. Especially now with single/double turbo engines and tighter tolerances.

    That solenoid gasket will leak and the oil will wick and stick all along the underside of the valve covers, making it seem as though the valve cover gaskets are leaking And IF you Do pull the valve covers off, you might as well adust the valves while the covers are off. Valves are supposed to be checked after 100K-ish anyway.

    I have a 22 Escape, and both of my front power window regulators have already been replaced under warranty. They never got stuck, but were really loud while going down as a result of forgetting to lubricate them when my Vehicle was originally built. The Dealership constantly relubricating them stopped helping after a while, as the damage was already done.

      Glad there are some still out there, I do not come across many. Recently I did a timing belt where the hydraulic tensioner was reused, failed 30k/5 years later.

      @@SamslamminCars my mechanics are 2 old Portuguese guys. Unfortunately they look like they’ve got about 5 years left before they retire. The only mechanics I’ve ever gone to. Some work I don’t have time to do, you know how it is. Too busy working sometimes to fix my cars. I do have 8 of them after all.

      @@SamslamminCars you know a lot about Toyotas. I’m thinking maybe buying a 2002 4Runner SR5 212,000 miles. Needs maintenance like valve cover gaskets, tires the rear wheel is covered in grease so obviously somethings going on. Im gonna try for $2,000-2500. Red 4 wheel drive. A little rust not too bad considering. Rebuild trans, new gas tank. Interior is good just dirty. Red in color

      They were cheap and I actually like the slim design of these rain guards. I broke the one while pushing the car and trying to grab the E-Brake one day. Virginia is where we reside

    Gen2 Avalon, right? We've had a lot more maintenance on our 03 because it sat, undriven, for two years while an estate was cleared. Quote from my mechanic, who hates working on old cars in the Northeast: "This car is amazing." Quote from my son: "This thing is FAST." Took me two years, but I finally have learned to insist on Toyota OEM replacements for anything that has reached the end after 23 years. Only 101k miles, so just barely broken in.

      I had to look it up since I thought it was a 1st gen but you're correct. A sitting vehicle is as bad as an abused one: unless stored out of the elements and prepared properly. Aftermarket parts are a crapshoot anymore & you are also best off doing just that, using OEM when possible. Yours is just getting broken in!!!!

      This 258 4.2 3-speed can do 75 easily but my transfer case cannot anymore haha Once I finish my CRX this will get a couple big fixes.

      @@user-bz7zh2uo7e Disagree, the main Blvd running alongside the highway here is littered with lights. Manual brakes & people pulling out at every street light is much more dangerous. Our highways are only 55mph , with 4 lanes being the safest place; just like for motorcycles.

      @@SamslamminCars I have. TJ on 40s with G2 heavy duty axles ( almost 10 grand lol) but it's built for hard use. I can't fit it in the garage...or airport parking 😂. Impractical as hell. And I love it! I'm thinking about selling though. My friend wants it and I'd love to start a new project based on a JK. I've been out of the country for 2 years and just have zero time.

      Lol it's made by Warren oil company. Lubrigold, saxxon.. same company. Just cause it's marketed jeep doesn't make it cheap. It still meets and exceeds oem standards for modern cars.

    Even GM states to just remove the cap from the reservoir and press the pads back in. No need to loosen the bleeder.

      Agree but was replacing the fluid too. I have seen master cylinders collapse otherwise but it is rare. When pistons are fully extended I do not risk it, unless the bleeder bolt looks seized.

    I just did a job for my son-in-law on his g37x. The dealership wanted $4k to replace valve cover gaskets, coil packs, and spark plugs. It to me 1/2 a day and $400 in parts. Easy money

    If you were to change your oil at 10000 , 15000 , 20000 or 25000 . Would it make sense to change your oil filter at least , every 5000 miles .

      Not all filters are equal & lower grade paper cellulose filters should never be used over 3-5k miles. If you have a filter rated for 10k, 20k then maybe.. I personally always change the filter with the oil. I have heard of others' skipping filters or oil per intervals, see no point in this and the minimal savings at best.

    I bet if you wanted to clean it out even better then right after your oil change run it for several minutes then drain it again and put fresh oil back into it. Of course that costs more money.

      This engine was not very dirty but for neglected engines. I recommend using seafoam with cheap oil or using some transmission fluid if n/a. Get it to running temperature for a while then change it out.

    I use Castrol GTX or Edge depending on which truck I am working on. I always use Wix filters.

    Interestingly, Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics has a 2-part video on a flashing dash panel on a 2004 Avalon, with part 2 just posted today... May or may not be the same issue, but it sure is similar.

      I ended up removing the negative terminal and resetting the ECU. It has been fine since, very strange.
