The most important thing you're missing here is that the Apostles the Lord spoke to about the question are still with us, and there are those amongst them who have not tasted of death. As it's written, he who keepeth Ishral ("Israel") shall neither sleep nor slumber. You see, it's not really that hard to square up what we're given. You just have to be clear-headed about it and your eyes of course must be open. The next most important thing you seem to have missed is that there are two "end timeses". I.e. two periods of "end times". One for each arrival of the Lord Iesous Christos. In some sense, they could be seen as just waves within a larger "end time" ocean, but if you read AND receive both of your testaments, as you seem to believe you've done, and you include the Maccabees in that, you should know that the Old-Covenant end times were from the 3rd or 2nd Century BC until the giving of the Holy Ghost, and then there began a Church Age in which, inter alia, we await the Lord's return during a new end-time described by the Lord in Matthew. An end-time which we're told by the Lord shall be the worst times of all time before or after. And this will be immediately followed by the millennium known as Judgement Day. And we are told, again by the Lord but this time speaking through Peter, that the elements shall melt with fervent heat, that the old world (old Heaven and Old Earth) shall pass away in this melting, and that a new Heaven and new Earth is / shall be prepared for us to inhabit. This is the means of overcoming the effects of the Fall, a curse on the laws of nature as well as on man. A curse that continues as long as this "world" ("kosmos"), this Creation, remains. (I.e. so long as it continues to exist, it shall be fallen). We are told that the only creations which shall survive this and be translated into the new world shall be the souls of saved creatures, human and otherwise. The bodies, being fallen, must be recreated in a state of perfection, and then sealed against disobedience so they can never fall again. Sorry to say, but most of this is like basic, fourth-grade-level gospel school. Now it's clear to me that at least some of the Apostles mistakenly believed that all of this would happen within a "normal", (what's actually normal, anyway?) natural lifespan of a group of them who were present for those prophecies. But the fact that the scriptures indicate they believed this, does not make the Scriptures wrong or inaccurate or incorrect. The Scriptures, in their original form, are by definition perfect and without error. People certainly have added and subtracted things, but there's no reason to believe that's what's going on with this issue. What it does mean is that we're being shown a realistic picture of these men, who were fallen just as we are. Fallen, thus "hardly" infallible! But the truth is also shown to us, in hidden form. We can only understand it in these later days, with the benefit of knowing the history that would unfold after those Scriptures were recorded. To show us this, is an act of love shown to us in the present day, by God Himself.

Yes, it is very reasonable that 70 AD destruction of the Jewish Temple fullfilled the Mt 24 discourse. But keep in mind that God almost always uses repetition as He leads us forward. Moses led through the Red sea on dry ground crossing, then Joshua later led through the Jordan river on dry ground and into the actual promise land (total fulfillment). Abraham was directed to sacrifice his only promised son, yet a substitute lamb was provided instead. Later Christ, as the promised son was given as our substitute payment for all wrong doing and for once and for all time (total fulfillment). And there are many more biblical examples. 70 AD marked the total subjugation and humiliation of the Jews. The taking away of all that was most dear to them (their sacred temple practices). The next 2000 years is all about the grafting in of the gentile believers into the Abrahamic and Davidic covenant. Read Romans 11 carefully and you will see. Yet now we are coming to the end of the Gentile age and a restoration of those Jews who finally come to true Messiah. (For God has not forgotten Israel and those of the promised bloodline.) And total fulfillment will be a time when the Lion will lay down with the Lamb. The Lion a symbol of Judah, the Jewish people, and the Lamb a symbol of true Christians. 70 AD is a foreshadowing of what will come. The second time it happens will be similar to 70 AD but this time it will be the total and grand fullfillment. Like the two examples I gave. And the Bible is full of pairs. Adam first man, Christ second man. 12 children of Israel, 12 disciples. Saul, then David. Elijah, then Elisha. Out of Egypt you shall come. First the nation of Israel, then Christ fullfilled likewise. So many more examples could be given. It is the principle of: let every important matter be established by at least 2 witnesses. The idea where Christ has a physical throne during his millennial reign comes from the book The Smoky God. It’s a quick but interesting read. I think basically the idea is that the camp of the saints, I.E. Mount Zion, black rock, etc. found on old world maps, resides in the center of the world, surrounded by all the nations. I know Christ’s kingdom is a heavenly or spiritual kingdom, but it’s possible he may also still be here physically, though we can’t physically see him on a throne as people are thinking. Meaning, he’s shrouded in a veil as depicted in the smoky god. It also plays into past projections that WWIII will ultimately be fought in the North Pole, which is actually the center of the world where the floating city is, if we believe the account in The Smoky God and the old world maps. I’m not entirely sure if that’s correct, but I do think once in a while Christ may come down to be amongst men.
