Hi Everyone! I absolutely love this Cross Canoes Quilt pattern by Art Gallery Fabrics and had so much fun free motion quilting it. It did have a couple challenges, such as many seams intersecting, and some fullness within a few blocks. The fullness was totally due to user error. Nevertheless, it was still there and I had to quilt it out. Join me as I show how I quilted the fullness out and how ...

Csm this machine do the free motion zig zag emproidery?
Hi, The Juki F300 is able to be used to hand guide Free Motion Quilting with the proper quilting foot. It is not an embroidery machine. And it does have the ability to have a zig zag stitch. Have a wonderful day!
@WatchLauraSew thx alot ❤
when you are making multiple patches and you just want to change the name on the patches let’s say from John to Mary but leave the rest of the patch as it is how do you go back and edit it without doing it all over?
To keep the bobbin thread from getting tangled underneath is to cut the excess bobbin thread off before sewing.
I need to try that! Thank you!
Can you still sew without the accessory tray? I bought my mom this machine a month ago and think we may have tossed the tray out with the box. Do you know where I can order a replacement? Thank you
Hi, I would contact the Brother support team for any questions regarding replacements. They have always been helpful to me. They would be able to assess your needs with the right solution. Have a wonderful day!
Anyway to ruler quilt with the se600???
I will answer based on my Brother SE600 with my rulers. My Brother SE600 does not have an extension table. Therefore, I would not use my Brother SE600 for ruler quilting. For me, there is not enough room on the bed of the machine to control the ruler against a ruler foot, with the left hand. Ruler quilting on a sewing machine takes control and technique, a flat surface large enough to support the ruler, proper ruler foot for the machine, and the right size and shape of ruler. I hope that answers your question. Have a wonderful day!
@@WatchLauraSew i have the large extention for the machine, when I put the ruler quilting foot on, it holds my fabric so tightly I can't move it (dogs are down) but it will allow me to free motion, its almost as if the down lever needs to be half way down, I've tired needle move ment and different feet, it just won't ruler quilt for me...looking for a new machine 🤔 maybe because it is an embroidery too??
I have same sewing machine
My mom's machine is still running beautifully! Have a wonderful day! :)
Me too! I have this one!
Thank you! I like that you demonstrated going horizontal and vertical!
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day!
What do you use to keep the hoops clean with?
Wouldn't it be easier to put the embroidery foot on before placing the embroidery deck on ?
Shift and Pouff Happens. Great problem solving; beautiful quilt.
Thank you! Have a wonderful day!
My bobbin holder is hitting my feed dogs and won’t sew! Any suggestions!!! Thank you! 😢
I am sorry that is happening to you. I would contact a Juki customer service representative. Have a wonderful day!
It was helpful but I would have liked to hear it running. I am expecting delivery of a 4452 tomorrow. I wanted to know how noisy it is. I can't sew thicknesses on my old Singer. I hope this 4452 will sew the binding on a quilt.
I purchased the 4452 a couple weeks ago. I didn’t buy the extension table, but I guess I’ll buy it now.
My Singer 4452 came with the extension table. Have a fantastic day!

I really appreciate seeing the genesis of thought that results in this beautiful piece; thanks for sharing! It's amazing to see how different quilters will approach the same project.
I agree!!! I love to see how everyone approaches the design! This is a beautiful pattern and the quilting was a complete joy! Have a fun day!
Such a beautiful quilt!!
Thank you so very much!!! I really had fun quilting it! :) Have a terrific day!
This is absolutely gorgeous. A masterpiece. I present to you, honorable mention at the quilt show.

Can I free motion quilt on my se700 ? Trying to find videos or info on it but nothing. Waiting for it to come in mail
Hi! I don't have a SE700, but I tried to find information and did not any that is relevant. I have contacted Brother before and asked them questions regarding their equipment and accessories. At the time that I contact them, their support answered my questions and pointed me to the correct accessories. I am sorry that I am not more helpful.
@@WatchLauraSew I appreciate such a fast reply and you going out of your way for even looking. I tried Reddit and RUclips haven’t found anything but I would assume it’s the same as the se600 and you can free motion with that so
I have the se 1900 and my problem is the pressure on the presser foot it so tight! It doesn’t move freely. These machines are basically the same along with the 700 one as well. Look up the se 1900 for answers I bet you’ll find help
Where can I get a dc 6 volt power adapter cord. I just bought one that is the 8 stich. But it didn't have the power adapter with it
I have not had to replace mine yet. I really don't know. I am sorry that, I am not any help! Have a wonderful day!
What foot do you use for free motion quilting?
Hi, I use the Brother Free Motion Quilting foot listed in the manual on page 8. I hope that helps!
Just the tutorial that I needed. Thanks.
I am so glad! Thank you! Have a wonderful day!
That was just what I was looking for:) thank you so much!
Hi Laura thank you for sharing your lovely tutorial on quilting l love watching you quilt.how long did it take you to learn to quilt feathers and get them even.Did you ever have to use a friction pen to keep them equal
Thank you so much!!! I spent a long time learning how to make feathers. After several years of quilting feathers on my own, I felt confident enough to take a course in free motion quilting feathers. The free motion quilting course really helped me grow and be more creative with feathers! In regard to marking, I try not to mark my quilts and table runners, if I can. On the rare occasion, I will mark areas or the path for the feathers. I don't mark the individual feathers plumes. I hope that helps! Have a wonderful day! And thank you, again! :)
My screen doesn’t open up so I can embroider.
I haven't had that experience on the Brother SE600. Maybe a Brother service technician can help. Have a wonderful day!
How do I upgrade from 1.08 to 1.09 ? Tks:)
Hi Laura, I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on this machine? I am a total beginner looking for a machine. I’m wanting to do quilting, free motion, foundation paper piecing and make garments sometimes with denim. Do you think this machine would be a good fit? I don’t know how strong it is if it would be able to deal with denim or many layers of fabric from paper piecing. I’m also hoping to do a queen size quilt, would the throat space be enough for that? Thank you!
You asked good questions! I really like my Juki F300 for free motion quilting and regular sewing. I noticed that one of your requirements is layers of denim or paper piecing. When I bought my last sewing machine, I had a requirement of layers of waxed canvas. I took what I wanted to sew through, with me to a local sewing machine shop, and tried out my fabric on a few sewing machines. That really helped me decide on which sewing machine was the best for my needs and budget. Have a great day!
Beautiful quilting!!
Thank you!!! 😀 Have a terrific day!
Beautiful feathers Laura so lovely and neatly decorated with freehand free motion.well done thank you for sharing
Thank you so much! ❤️ Have a wonderful day! 😀
Why the gloves?
Hi! Normally, I don't sew seams with gloves on. I use them when I free motion quilt. I probably still had them on from free motion quilting, just before this video. Good question! Have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for sharing!!! This helps so so much!
I am so glad that it helps! Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for your review. I'm skittish about the durability of electronic sewing machines with plastic gears. Do you have a life expectancy in mind with this model? And other than removing lint/fabric, is there any other routine maintenance involved, particularly lubricating gears or metal contact points? And would you recommend a professional service it, or is it something that a person with some mechanical aptitude is able to service?
Hi! You have some great questions. I really feel that consulting a Juki representative would be the best source to answer your questions. Have a good day!
Stay away from juki, I've had nothing but problems with their machines. I have the f-400 literally 48 hours and it is having problem after problem after problem. I'm shipping it back biggest hunk of 💩
Hi! I am so sorry that you are having problems with your machine. I really like my Juki F300. Have a good day!
@@WatchLauraSew not just the machine My Juki serger is not chaining up on the left needle. always something
thank you! How do you sew the knit fabric on that machine? Do you need a specific foot?
Hi! I am probably not the best person to ask. I haven't sewn knit fabrics, especially stretchy ones, for a while. Maybe someone will answer that is an expert in knits. Can anyone help?
Currently I am sewing a very stretchy knit fabric with this very machine. Experimented a few things but It works beautifully with the walking foot and a stretch knit needle.
@@priscillaneow4069 thank you! I see the walking foot for Juki 300 can be bought separately as it is not included with the package.
Thank you for waking up my brain! I have a serger, and never even thought about using it to keep my fabric from fraying when I wash my fabric. Problem solved.
Thank you! I am glad that it helps! Have a wonderful day!
Hi Laura! I am over the moon in love with my JUKI F300, bought gently used. I cannot for the life of me figure out what type of bobbin she prefers. MUST I purchase the JUKI brand bobbin for this machine or will another (less expensive) bobbin keep her happy? 15? SA 156? 15J? Will she work with metal 15 bobbins? Thanks I enjoy your videos.
Hi! Congratulations on your Juki F300! I use Juki plastic bobbins for my F300, that are sold by Juki for the F series computerized machines. I hope that helps! Have a wonderful day!
Any help with the feed dogs not raising up? I flip the switch but nothing happens
Hi! I think that I found something that might help. I noticed on page 44 number 10 (as of this writing) in the online Brother SE600 manual a reference to returning feed dogs to the up position. I hope that helps!
@@WatchLauraSew I fixed it! I had to do some tinkering but there’s a little black lever that raises and lowers them, mine was in the wrong position but once I moved it everything works perfect now. Thank you!
A very beautiful quilt Laura. I love the colours and the free motion quilting you have done
Thank you!!! I had fun quilting this quilt, although it took me a long time to quilt it! :) Have a terrific day!
You make it look so easy, I cant do it....occasionally I manage but its not in my siky like its in yours....Im jealous....well done, I made this pattern and I love it.....great for scrap busting...
Thank you so much! I agree! It is great for scrap busting or for a fat quarter bundle! It is a very versatile pattern! :) Have a wonderful day!
Can you ruler quilting on it?
You have a very soothing voice, very nice to listen to! Traditional thimbles aren't for everyone and it's always good to have alternatives--which is why I stumbled across your video. My grandfather was a tailor in Lancashire before WWII. During the war, he worked in a factory that made Spitfires and after the war, the continuing rationing and rise of off the rack men's clothing made him decide to change professions. He taught me how to sew and one thing he taught me was to adjust a thimble to fit my finger. For the vast majority of people, if you look at the cross section of the fingertip, it's more oval in shape than round but most thimbles are made round. To get a comfortable fit, a few taps with a hammer or rubber mallet to turn a round metal thimble into an oval shaped one usually does the trick quite nicely--and it also means that the wearer has to drop a size or two down to get a properly snug fit. I've always used an open top thimble, the ones designed for tailors, but the same tip applies for closed top thimbles. If the thimble is heavily decorated, particularly if it is enamelled, it is meant more for show and should not be adjusted by hammer. They are meant to be popped into a fancy little thimble cage worn as a pendant on a necklace or dangling from a brooch and only occasionally placed on the bearer's pretty fingertip to be waved around gracefully and charmingly as she took a few stitches to show that she did know how to sew--in theory, anyway!
Thank you so much for sharing! Years ago, my mother gave me a round thimble. You are so right! It never fit my finger! I have enjoyed learning about thimbles from you! And I love the description of the heavily decorated thimbles. I had always wondered, who really used them or if they were for display. Thank you again for sharing! Have a wonderful day!
I did this, free, beginner friendly, easy to follow Jordon, use scraps, and a pattern for all genders by fabric choice....great choice Laura
Thank you! Oh I am sure that it would look lovely with scraps! Have a wonderful day!
The "stem" inside the leaf is called a "vein". Great instruction. I love your work. Thanks
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day!
That is so cute I love it
Thank you! It was a lot of fun! Have a great day!
So cool Laura! ❤🎉
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day!
I am sure anyone else who looks at it that does not sew will say it’s beautiful and I think you are doing a great job. As for the beads, I would flip the quilt over and see how it looks with just the square beads. It may look fine without more quilting. If you feel the beads need quilting, by looking at it from the back, you can figure out what pattern best fits it. And then you have to decide how to quilt the border. Whatever you decide, it will come out great. You do beautiful work. And I use the same table for my one machine. It is the perfect height and I wish I could get more.
Thank you so much! I have been tempted to leave the squares without quilting. But, I feel that the stitch in the ditch was not perfectly straight. There were times that the weight of the quilt pulled slightly, while I was quilting. :) I will do a followup video and show the rest of the quilting. Have a terrific day! Thank you!
How do you remove extension table
Hi! I pulled left. My extension table has been there for months, and it was a little harder to move. But it did pull toward the left. I hope that helps! Have a wonderful day!
@WatchLauraSew thank you..yes I figured it out after I posted the question. I cant believe there's nothing on Google lol. But I guess its pretty easy

Is the machine strong enough to taper and hem jeans?
Hi! That is hard to answer, since there are so many different thicknesses to jeans. Since many seams on jeans are thick, I would not use it to taper and hem thick jean fabric. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day!
