    Hey Bob, thanks for sharing. I also do repairs (and started a channel too). I got myself a polarizer LED ring light for my microscope and it makes a big difference in cutting the glare without affecting the light. There is a rotatable ring that changes the polarization gradually so you can adjust it how you want. It also has dimmable LEDs. I was a bit skeptical before getting it but it's made working on stuff a lot easier. It also makes for easy reading of IC markings and for seeing traces better on the board as it effectively gives you like an adjustable contrast. Hope this helps!

      Thanks for the awesome tip, would you be able to email me a link to this item? I’m also on the lookout for a articulating arm to replace the base and stand of my microscope if you’ve got any leads on those. Thanks for your support and watching the videos. Have a great new year.

      @@bobdoestech I've just emailed you on your Gmail address. I had the same setup as you and also got a new articulating arm for my scope. I've also included the link to that. Cheers and Happy New Year!

    Awesome. I love doing little repairs like this. I've also started using Lithium batteries instead of alkaline as they're more leak resistant.

    Anyone having A1398 Dual Graphics Card version (512 GB ssd, 16 gig rams) should also disconnect the trackpad/keyboard ribbon connector after removing the battery, it will boot up and log into the desktop just fine. Use an external keyboard/mouse combo and stick a tape to the magsafe power connection to avoid accidental pull outs.

    Thanks for this video with verbal descriptions of what you're doing. Those plastic welds are a bear! I ended up using a Dremel to grind them off. Messy for sure, but quicker without bending the metal frame, and nothing a small PC vacuum & paint brushes can't handle. Think I'm going to try a few key replacement plastic welds in places using zip ties & a soldering iron. Cheers!

    Not as bad as laptops were back in like 2010 though.... they were more like cell phones. Yep - try to take it apart w/o breaking a hidden ribbon cable....

  • @jbcctv7957
    @jbcctv7957 2 месяца назад

    Makin sure them small ribbon cables are plugged all the way in can be another issue. I added a second ssd drive that fit in the hdd spot and yep..... all the way in and latched... need a magnifier.

    I am wondering if you can buy the top piece with the keyboard in it. Still cheaper than replacing like 16 keys....

  • @jbcctv7957
    @jbcctv7957 2 месяца назад

    My keyboard works fine but the keys are getting worn to being unreadable. The next keyboard... am hoping the key caps are compatible. You can buy just the key tops but.....insanely priced. I got like a washable dust cover....7 bucks. I don't think I want to take the insides out of the thing unless keys get stuck.... you can buy the keys at between 7 bucks and 11 a piece. I have 16 that are getting worn and getting unreadable. What ever they made the keys out of isn't very durable and doesn't like any kind of cleaners...or long finger nails. Sad for what the gaming laptop costed. As long as it has no dead or stuck keys.... i don't want to take the whole thing apart.

    This is just a thought, but would a heat gun, running back and over the board (not particularly high heat) would soften the plastic and let you pull up gently, or even shear off the tops?

  • @abryyeah1875

    yessssss I fixed it The problem I expected was from the laptop itself, the charger port had something stuck in it. After watching the video and the comments, I turned on the phone's flashlight to see the charger hole, And I found the part very tilted, even though it was charging, it didn't enter the laptop's port completely. I give it a try, because any movement of the laptop disconnects the charger, not stable. Now the port has been improved. you made my day. Thank you for the video and the explanation. I used a pin hair + a nail, was scared coz I wasn't so gentle. liked subs <3

    I accidentally bent mine, so I took it to Best Buy squad. They said it was unfixable. Tried to get me to buy a new one. Even though I just bought the one and accidentally bent a couple pins right away. So then I tried to take it to a PC repair shop. The guy charged me $50 to tell me there’s nothing he could do. so then I took it back home and my 12 year-old son got a pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass and fixed it himself.

    I have a 2017 macbook air. Been using for years. 2 times it suddenly stopped taking a charge and wouldnt turn on. The first time i messed with it for 2 weeks and randomly it turned on. It was fine for an entire year till it did it again on me about 2 weeks ago. Again i kept messing with it, i thought the battery was toast. Found ur video while searching the internet on how to force a macbook to turn on without the battery plugged in(thank u very much for this usefull info) so i decided to stick the battery back in and use ur method again and boom damn thing works and is charging like nothing happened. Smh

My wife plugged her computer into a display splotter (for PCs) at a corporate office to charge, and after that, every startup hasbeen static on the screen, stuck at Apple logo, or black, always with the fan maxed out. I have mid 2015 and they are really great, but the batteries keep expanding and I have had to replace it twice, and it needs to be replaced again. I wish there was a way to just get rid of the battery and just run it off the power supply all the time.
