I only bet what's nearest to a man's heart. Else, there's no way to tell if he's bluffing. When a man is willing to risk, or not to risk, that's a measure of his soul......
They really should have left this scene in the movie 😮 God I love the villains of these movies. They have more depth than all of the marvel bullshit combined
I mean, it's not like they decided this was a deleted scene early on but then went back to animate it. It's animated because it was meant to be in the final version until right before release.
I just came to this scene after watching someone explaining Liars Dice. I'm surprised i understood the game way before the explanation. It just made sense from context alone for me.
2:35 , 2:53 , 3:10 and 3:31 Will was very brave and bold to openly challenge Jones on his own ship. He shouldn’t have pushed his luck by playing the second round. Technically, Will (as he said earlier) had sworn no oath and should have been able to leave willingly. He beat Jones in the first round and should have just gone with it and left with his father. Then the whole problem of he becoming the new captain of the Flying Dutchman could have been avoided. (In theory, assuming they’d be wise enough to avoid the sea from then on.)
Makes the scene even more heartbreaking if they kept it in. Bill was free but thrww it all away to save him. And he beat the monster already and thought he gonna do it again
The CGI is just amazing for the time. It is a good thing a movie like POTC -DMC won't be made again and should not makes it a treasured film. This was back when Disney actually treated a Movie has a Movie and wanted to tell a good story which they did. I am glad we still can watch it today.
Nostradamus's Les Prophéties. I started to read after the book sold more online due to the fact it was suspected there was a quantrine to do with Queen Elezibeth the 2nd passing and The Royal Family. Also, princess Diana dying and being a partial Prophecy I started to think Paul Walkers passing on Hercules street. I looked for Hercules in Les Prophéties and found this... Notradamus- Les Prophéties. 942 poetic quatrains allegedly predicting future events (Century X:27) "Through the fifth one and a great Hercules They will come to open the temple by hand of war: One Clement, Julius and Ascanius set back, The sword, key, eagle, never was there such a great animosity". North American (eagle) Paul walker was working on the seventh Fast And Furious movie (through the fifth). When, with financial adviser Roger Rodas (sword&key) left from co-hosting a charity event (Temple) for a 2013 Philippines Typhoon. They died on Hercules st. (a great Hercules) Santa Clarita California by car crash. The weather was mild (clement) and the natural disaster caused both to fundraise for typhoon which caused aprx. 6600 deaths and $2.98 billion in damages(war). They both died (a great animosity).
This scene is so damn good! It really holds a lot more weight knowing Bootstrap just got his freedom back, but is willing to throw it away immediately for his son.
Did they ever make an extended edition of these movies? Because there seems to be a lot of stuff that they can just put in now and still make a lot of money
its very easy actually, the game dates back to the days of the inca empire and came to europe with the spanish and as any gambling dice game was popular amongst sailors. First player makes a bet on how many dice he thinks have a particular face, amongst every dice on the table. So if he bets three 3's he's certain theres at least 3 threes on the table, including his own dice of course. Every subsequent bet has to be higher (3 threes < 4 threes < 5 twos < 5 threes < 7 sixes, etc). You can keep the amount and raise the value or you can raise the amount and alter the value at your will. You can never diminish the amount however. Eventually one will be called a liar and then all dice cups are revealed and they check if the accused was correct or incorrect. Most games use One's as wild (they represent any number needed) and theres many variations of this game.
So great to see the love a father has for his son however it annoyed the piss out of me that Bootstrap stepped in and ruined Will's plan twice. If he had not stepped in at all both would be free with the key but no Mr Patrick Starface had to be stupid.
"your fate is to be married to the ship", he was kinda right...
What happens if you bet on the low side and get called a liar? When Will said “5 sixes”, what if there were 6 sixes? Would Will lose or Jones?

Boot strap Bill's body should've turned normal.
I'm amazed. This movie has a few completely unnesessary scenes. Why they decided to delete this one is beyond my understanding
Could someone tell me how this game is even played? 🙌

They went back to the effort animate this scene bless them

...Dude never learned to be a dad, he knew that instinctively.
Was it just a coincident, or is there any symbolism to their first rolls being complete opposites of each other (1 three, 4 sixes to 1 six, 4 threes)?
Wills father is an idiot
An idiot for protecting his son?
1:27 His pipe looks tremendous.
I quite enjoy the absence of music in the extended scenes. The raw wetness of the sea and the tension between the characters is strong enough
I love the detail of Jones using his tentacle beard to hold his pipe, even gesturing at Will with it.

Davy jones slightly raising his eye brow when he says 7 fives is such great animation and it gives jones a real life feel.
To all the seaman out there. By sea and by sky, i shall have my soul bound by water ti'll life as my soul is spared for Davie Jones Locker.
I like the detail that he only overturns bootstrap's cup, as since he has no fives, there can't possibly be 12 in total
This scene would be so much better if they kept all of this
Makes the scene even more heartbreaking if they kept it in. Bill was free but thrww it all away to save him. And he beat the monster already and thought he gonna do it again
Funny how Davy keeps the key to his heart close to his chest.. close to where his heart used to be

that little sound Davy makes at Bootstrap to gtfo 😂 3:47
Davy Jones is a great character from his character design, his movements, his character, and Bill Nighy’s acting
So if dear old dad bootstrap bill didn't intervene what would've happen to master william turner? That game must be ancient as ashes damn
theres only 5 dice how the fuck does he have 7 5's
You also include everyone else's die on the table. In terms of fives, Jones has 4 and he is betting that Will has 3 and Bill has none.

Stellan Skasgaard, is so intense. I can totally see why they chose him for Baron Harkonen in Dune.
Davy Jones seems like a fun Captain.
To me, POTC 2 is still the most underrated sequel of all time.
Master Turner, Feel free to go ashore...Very next time we make port!!! That line hits hard for me...

Liar!

Jones really a good loser.😂
yall saying its deleted but i know i watched the movie with this scene in it
what will you bet on?
In the battle of wits other than Jack, there's only one person I know that could definitely outsmart Davy Jones... John Constantine.
I never understood how the rules of this game were supposed to work, and I never will.
Just google it, there's 100s of sites explaining it

3:54 the voice of Davey jones
Master Turner feel free to go ashore, the very next time we make port 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Such a clever writing
So great to see the love a father has for his son however it annoyed the piss out of me that Bootstrap stepped in and ruined Will's plan twice. If he had not stepped in at all both would be free with the key but no Mr Patrick Starface had to be stupid.
Could have said 9 fives and actually make it interesting tbh
Y not wager for the key in the first place
Even his crew scared of him to death!
Shows what good writing can do. No explosion, no preaching, just gripping drama.
