Fun, bouldery climb in Arico abajo, Tenerife! I redpointed this line after 13 attempts spread over 5 days of effort on my last possible attempt before leaving the island. The key ended up being the way my fingers grabbed the left sidepull at the end of the second crux... Thank you to all of the beautiful people i met at basecamp ortiz :)

Poor phone camera quality video of a high quality route! I am 6'1" with a 2 ape index and this was my beta on the redpoint burn of the rock climb Surfer Rosa in El Potrero Chico in Mexico. It took me 11 burns spaced over 5 days to get it clean. I really enjoyed the movement and the effort on this route and found it harder than other local routes of the grade.

On April 11 Heidi and I left Elfin Lake Trailhead at 0620 and arrived at Rubble Creek Trailhead at 1820 (12 hours total). There were many people on the route today (around 70!) making travel easy on a well established skin track. Excellent visibility and great skiing on North aspects made this a beautiful albeit tiring spring day in the mountains :) I was inspired in part by Kraig Adams hiking ...

Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged us in this project! We are very happy with the end result, and are finding it to be a nice cozy full time home on wheels. Feel free to comment any questions regarding the build and I will do my best to answer! FAQ's answered: Regarding the high top: It is a fiberglass aftermarket high top, that was on the van when we bought it. It was 6'5 inter...

    Ok, ive been looking for some real insight on the swivel seat. I like dot rated ones. They have a 2" offset. Does this destory the leg room with the engine tunnel? I dont think i could sit in the passenger seat if it was 2in toward van center

    Somebody needs to come up with a light substitute for wood paneling on the walls. The warmth of wood has no equal. The weight must kill gas millage,

      I was thinking 1/4 inch masonite paneling would work. I am not convinced that the wood cladding has all that much insulation by itself.

    1:43 - engraved brass table top looks Persian. Nice touch. Your girlfriend must be Persian too. You should explain some of the materials used in countertop, and tell us brand of fridge, how it is powered, thickness of cabinet wood panels, etc. Nice to know how it was built. The stove looks lovely, and is a high end one. It is however, right up against the bed, 6 inches away from fabric bedding, a serious fire hazard. I would put some insulating material between stove and bed as soon as possible. There should be a hefty clearance around stove. If you choose to bypass this safety zone, then use an effective barrier. Ceramic or firebrick tiles mounted on wood panel should work. My house burned down due to an electrical fire due to negligence by previous owner. Don't underestimate a fire hazard. You may want to get a Porta-Potty and encase it like a rolling stool for a leg rest. Nice to have one. Put your recycling in garage. Also, get a small solar pump for your sink, it will be so nice to have easy running water. Well done on the low budget build, very creative and functional. Looks like a cozy travel home for you both! Be sure to visit Big Sur in California, and drive on Pacific Coast Highway all the way from Carmel to Los Angeles. If you head back, take 101 and see all the CA historic old Spanish Missions. Each one gives you a slice of California history. Bon Voyage!

      Thanks for the reply and the link. I've seen other reports from people who've used the same swivel base, but from different suppliers. All of which had similarly bad service. But as far as how well it works, what's your report? From what I understand, the base raises the seat 2" and moves it inboard by 2". I'm just wondering how that is for passenger riding comfort.

    Great conversion! Perfect mobile ski chalet, love the fireplace/heater! Some details I especially appreciate: Coping the T&G up under the cabinets so you don't have the edge hanging there to whack your forehead... Garage BIG gear drawer and ski storage cubbies... the "mud room" rubber floor at the entry (smart!)... swivel seats and multipurpose recycle/ottoman/step-stool. Remarkably good job for beginners, you clearly invested a lot of time into planning and thinking thru what you wanted.

    I've been researching spray foam insulation to use for my high top van as well, some say that over time, the spray foam's adhesive will break away from the fiberglass top, thus leaving an air gap and will cause condensation in between it. Did the company that did the job tell you anything about that being an issue?

    • @phillipbinnema2171
      @phillipbinnema2171 6 лет назад

    sorry I have to disagree with the others who said great video, it left more questions than answers. Solar system, what is that you have, what controller and why, batteries series or parallel why, inverter?, toilet shower bed size chairs for table fire extinguisher carbon monoxide detector new/old van raised roof water proofing roof exhaust pipe through roof how do you get on the roof is the fire place rated for a van. you started with pulling out the the drawer part way closing it and shutting the back doors wow, I learned zero, of course I learned something, and I thank you, but you didn't really do your van Justice, so much not said that an update would be in order, not trying to be mean but keeping it real

      Yes, the heater keeps the place warm enough down to -10c for sure. Only downside is everything below the unit stays alot colder. A forced air unit could be on floor level and have a thermostat, but no fireplace...
