This was truly breathtaking. I love these two
Alexander introduces Nana at 1:40
2:17 Did she really not understand the Bajorans, or Star Trek, or was she just trying to inject current ideas into past productions? Both the first and second Kai of Bajor were women, and the Kai was pretty much the ultimate authority on Bajor. Their government was technically in power, but the Bajorans were profoundly religious and it was really hard/unpopular to go against the will of the Kai. So it doesn't make sense to diminish Kira's character to the level of an oppressed woman in a patriarchy, because she was way bigger than that. She was a Bajoran oppressed by the Cardiassians, and Kira's struggle was within herself, to grow above her terrorist/revolutionary past with a strong vindictive attitude toward the Cardassians, especially Dukat, and grow into a diplomat who no longer felt like the Federation could be the next Cardassians, but just a strong buffer (and ally) between them and the Cardassians who were still tickled by the idea that they could regain control over Bajor. Kira was one of the best characters in Star Trek specifically because we got to see her development from being oppressed to being reluctant to work with anyone else other than Bajorans, to seeing the potential in the Sisko and the wormhole's presence in their sector, and then growing step by step into a diplomat with hard earned warrior instincts. This is just one of the reasons why DS9 is my favorite Star Trek. It's not just stories, not just the character development (done to many characters), but the writers also gave us many aliens races that we got to learn about in greater detail than any other Star Trek show did. Nana did an amazing job with Kira, and it's great when actors who can pull this off get the opportunity to do so.
coming back to this, after Lower Decks is just the highlight

Love seeing Julian's ethics as a doctor clashing with what he has to do for his other occupation
I love Quark making loaded comments about trust during his conversation with Julian 😂
"It's making me look distinguished, Elim" I'm sure Elim is very much aware of how distinguished Julian looks, haha.
"You're not going to believe what I have to tell you." "Quark, I often don't believe the things that you tell me." Bahaha
"You may be the only partner I ever considered" Be still my beating heart! Can't wait to find out how Jadzia fits into this
Every time Jake ends a transmission with "Sisko out" I get a little emotional. This whole series is simply wonderful and we're so lucky as to have gotten it
A foot massage?? Julian’s cannon foot-fetish mentioned.
All this flower talk is very sensual and sweet. I’m gonna scream bc I’m crying so hard.
discovering this post-lower decks is so funny. Garak casually dropping that he could be a doctor in another life AND that he has a federation EMH? Clearly the writers were watching. 😂
I’d like to think so.
I truly wish we could have started a Go Fund Me for Andrew Robinson to get a filter or some kind of make up to resemble Garak more and a Starfleet uniform and background for Alex Siddig. But the performance is exceptional, nonetheless.
Just came to rewatch this after the latest episode of Lower Decks. I'm so happy that Garak and Bashir finally got on-screen recognition of their relationship! 🎉 And it was marvellous to see and hear the characters in Star Trek canon again, and voiced so brilliantly! ♥
HE USED THE TEETH! :O AND HE SAID HEWMANS! And the tribute to Aron Eisenberg. <3
Coming back 4 years later to thank Lower Decks. They're cannon(ish)!! Let's go!!
Yes! I just came here to write this as well :)
My cat is called Bashir Elim 💚🩵 just so glad to watch these
Thank you Lower Decks.
Came here to write this, too :)
best woman best character,best anything
🌜Thank you, sir. I greatly enjoy your work.🌛
Just started this after bingewatching DS9 over the past couple of weeks. For the 4th time or something. But this was new! Its fcking amazing to hear the acting starting slow, searching for old cues..old riffs..and after just a few minutes they grow into their old characters like nothing! After a while i swear I couldn't hear any difference from the show. Amazing! And thanks so much!
Sean bean and Alexander siddig need to make a movie only it's all their death scenes
It takes an actor of brilliance and insight to portray a complex character like Kira Nerys, and Nana Visitor did that to perfection. Not to mention that she's beautiful.
Ahhh! That Quark laugh is infectious!
NO WAY IT ENDS HERE?? WHAAT :,))))
Oh man this is JUST what i needed after finishing up ds9 , lovely , more stories , humanity will always need more stories
This is so well done!
I cannot believe I haven't found this piece of gold earlier! Totally rewatching all DS9 again.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
Here in 2024 wishing I had found this 4 years ago
Thanks!
I love this so, so much
This absolutely healed my heart. The happy ending they deserved- fuck the homophobic 90s. I’m crying
would i be able to join a call? dr bashir means a lot to me personally and i'd really love to tell you about it :)
brilliant
Garak's advice to an "aging" Bashir is something I'm taking on board
Oh my gosh, absolutely outstanding
As soon as I heard Armin's voice I nearly cheered alone in my room to myself lol
I've found this series so late! This is so cool and you are all so talented!
Hi Alexander. My name is Claire. I'm currently a math student, trying to do my part in treating my mom's brain disease, Cavernous Malformation. Remember season 4 of DS9, the Quickening, when Dr. Bashir was against an "incurable" disease? That's how I feel now in my professional life, but it's also given me a new purpose in life. I'm a lifelong fan of DS9, loved you as Dr. Bashir. Hope you're doing well.
@@metalgirlclaire great
Nana is so beautiful and i love Sid.
Sid you are awesome and thank you for being a great doctor and for the amazing acting you did with the one and only Elim Garak 😊
Oh, well I didn't realize I'd be receiving such an enormous amount of validation today. I want so badly to meet these men and thank them for the work they have done, and what they have done for me.
Love this channel....but pronouns, really??!
everyone has pronouns dipshit it came free with the fucking english language
You are aware that you used a pronoun in your comment, right? "This" is a pronoun, it is a part of the English grammatical system so I'm not quite sure what upsets you about them, do you know what pronouns even are? If you are not a native English speaker please excuse this but I would like to know why you don't like pronouns.
This was one plot thread that never got picked up again and I always wondered about the possibilities. It is also just a joy to hear all of your voices again. They were a part of my childhood. Thank you. ❤
I've liked Andrew Robinson since Dirty Harry (1971), he created Garak to be the most perfect character. I love his pacing and general affect. Andrew if you see this may I say "BRAVA...."
Oh, that was exciting! RUclips failed to tell me about this even though I was subscribed and had the bell hit and all that, so I'm a little late, but thanks for a great season 2 to everyone involved in putting it together.
I love to be part of that, how can i be apart. 🇸🇩💙✋👌
