Dodge Ram changing rear shocks

A quick video on how to and how not to change rear shocks. I installed Pro Comps Pro Runner performance shocks. When i first bought the truck the ride was really rough, only to find out that it was the stock shocks on a 6" lift truck. The end result a HUGE difference in ride quality.

What did you end up doing to fix it?
TV cable.
Nope, if God built a automatic for Dodge it still wouldn't shift.
Where did you find that aftermarket drain pan
I bought it from a friend.
The new Drain pans come with a Drain plug. I don’t know why the Manufacturer can’t put on a Drain pan with a plug.😊😊😊😊
I appreciate the video. Tackling this one an 06 now.
Should’ve changed transmission filter while using in there
hopefully you got your transmission to work properly. With the 47RE and 48RE first check your grounds to your tcu on the bulkhead. If needed, add another ground to the bulkhead (firewall) from your battery. An ATS GM Selenoid Conversion Kit would be advised. Also I would change the Output Speed Sensor. As an added plus while in the transmission, change to a BD Pressure Transducer Upgrade Kit. The plastic transducers are highly prone to breaking under the pressure. Noticing also that you have a deep pan with the stock location of the filter. You may buy an extension block kit to lower the filter into the pan a little more.
You are confusing the solenoid with the transducer.
Seems you might be at fort carson. Keep it up broda
What year and make ????
It's a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 I6 5.9L Turbo Diesel
Can you tell me what the correct number is for the bulb for a 2018 Toyota sienna
It would be H11 for low beams and 9005 for high beams
Bro could you help me? I had a Transmission Rebuilt because the cooler messed up and mixed Transmission Oil and Antifreeze. So once it was rebuilt I noticed that after I went more then 38-40 mph it would stay on 3rd gear even ifI stopped at a Stop Sign 🛑 or at a Light . Then when I would accelerate at the stop to continue it would stay on 3rd gear. I was actually not paying too much attention and thought it was something else but i ended up messing up my cluthes so I did a second rebuilt with someone else and they rebuilt the whole thing. Still is doing the same thing. They went throught the Michelle Steps but couldn’t find anything. Scanner shows its the Governor Pressure Solenoid but it was changed 2 times. torque converter was also changed 2 times and still same issue. What do you think it could be
As much as it would suck I would ask someone that really know how to look into trans programming using a computer and look through all the sensors and what they're reading, could be the brain for the trans is no good.
TCM or PCV ...try PCV first way less expensive
Where did you get the sylonoid and transducer?
I got mines from sinister diesel.
What was your initial problem? Code P0869 high line pressure?
So I have an 01 Cummins that doesn’t down shift unless I put it into neutral. Could this be the culprit? Or is that something else
It ended up being the torque converter.
I bet it the torqe govener.
Need of Help! I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9. Bought the truck 2 months ago and my buddy told me there was a sensor put on the transmission for the second gear to kick in, now I have to idle the truck from the first gear with all RPM’s up. When it hits about 20 to 22mph the second gear kicks in. Just don’t want to buy another transmission.
I would try to figure out what sensor was installed. That could be the culprit.
Sounds like your 2nd gear band needs adjusted or replace it if the drum in the transmission isn’t destroyed from no friction material left
My truck is doing this what is it 🤔
Sadly it's the torque converter
While the pan was off, you should have done a band adjustment. There's one in the pan and one on the drivers side outside.
I did both band adjustments before I made this video
Thank good video
Glad you liked it
I can hear the sound of the coquí frog on the background....is this was in Puerto Rico?
Actually i live in Hawaii. the Coqui frogs actually got brought here by accident a few years ago when christmas trees were brought here during one christmas
coqui frogs🤙🏻😅
Hi, great video.maybe you can help me. I just got my 48re on my 08 ram 2500 diesel. All great now but it won't go into overdrive. It does ok one or two times before the transmission warms up. Once it is warm it will not go into OD. No codes on the scanner. Thank you.
I'm not too sure. Make sure you check all your wires going into the trans make sure theyre not frayed. Does the truck drive ok when it's not in OD?
Esas putas rotulas son difíciles de sacar así,con el carro en un elevador es más fácil
Sí, bueno, desafortunadamente tengo que trabajar con lo que sea que tenga.
Thanks for the help
Happy to help
@@ksmotorsports9701 good evening, excuse me looking at your videos I want to explain my problem to you a bit, I just bought a Ram 2003 3500 cummins 4x4 the truck has this problem, if I start hard at a light or stop it only puts the first gear and the others don't, but when I start Normally, he puts in the gears well, what I notice is that he puts in the first gear at 15 o'clock and quickly puts in another gear again, that seems very fast to me, another thing is when I put passenger in it, it only revs but it does not advance, as it steers and I release the accelerator And quickly put the change, driving it normally if it works well, the only strange thing is that the 1st changes seem very strange to me.
@ErnestoDuran-kr9ie honestly I'm not too sure. If could be several things... from throttle position sensor to maybe changing the trans fluid and adding a additive like Lucas brand. I'm sorry I wish I could help more.
Bro where do you live I hear the little coqui sounds on your background nicee
So i live in Hilo, Hawaii which is on the biggest island in the state of hawaii. and those coqui frogs are actually an invasive species here.
So do I need inner tie rods or outer tie rods to drop it, I wanted to get bc coilovers but didnt know what to replace first
i honestly would say change both, it will save you time and the headache since your already in there with the shocks out.
The Puerto Rican native little frogs can be heard in the background, caw-kee..caw-kee.
How do I know L and R? Or are they the same?
Yes they are
Very good video. Thank you
Thank you I appreciate the support
Try changing your throttle position sensor.
Sorry to ask but my 1999 cummins 3500 I was in 2nd gear when I floord it went to first and on its on went to neutral thin I lit off it went to 2nd. It's does not slip but now it won't come out of first if I let off thin go to 2nd. An I can't get it in park any one know what it is
Sounds like your 1 - 2 shift band is worn, how’s the adjustment is the band adjusted all the way in already? If not try adjusting it.
@@stubbornmike4842 I fond the problem was the 2 gear band lever broke I replaced it an now it shifts great thanks
My 06 3500 will literally stall my engine instantly when put into reverse or drive, would that be a locked torque converter also.
Yea kinda sounds like what mines did, but mines didn't stall out, but it got close.
A bad governor solenoid can also cause starting out in what feels like 3rd gear even when manually shifted into first.. you will need a t25 torx and 7/16 socket to remove the governor solenoid and transducer mount. And then replace them both while your in the transmission because either of them can cause the same issues. And you can also get the upgraded high flow filter for it while your at it and then if that was your problem you won't have to go back in the trans. One tip try to not use power tools when working on a transmission atleast not on the internals, everything strips very easily and then your screwed. And make sure you have the proper torque wrench to torque EVERYTHING back down correctly including the pan bolts which is (125 in lbs)and the filter is (35 in lbs) 😀 P.S. when working on a transmission take care to be extremely clean the entire time.
Where would I get the high flow filter that you spoke of ? I did purchase two new filters one was a brand name and the other came with the naw pan and gasket. I've been thinking of purchasing a cast aluminum pan instead of using the stamped aluminum one that I have . Question RTV should I use it to seal the transmission as apposed to using the gasket ?
I like to add, I did the swap before, but I didn't use OEM parts. The fix got me a couple years, but, here I am again, making a game plan to do it again, this time I got good parts, not one of the cheap kits...
It was your accumulator spring.
What part number you’ve got?
MOOG ES80995 Tie Rod End www.amazon.com/dp/B001FE7I0U/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glt_fabc_RBSDJGXNMNWJVPMMDZQQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
That's where I got mines from with no problems.
Do you have to pack the boot with grease or is completed from the factory?
It should already be packed with grease. But it's always a good idea to top it off with some extra grease.
FYI you turn on a light. You start a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, don’t turn it on.
Which light are you talking about?
@@ksmotorsports9701 It was said “when I turn on the truck”. You didn’t turn it on, you started it.
Yes!
I'm sorry I slept through terminology class 🤙
how do i tell if mine is bad on my rsx
Usually if you have alot of play in your steering, or you have side by side vibration. you can also check by having someone move the steering wheel back and forth and you visually look at the tie rod and see any play in it.
No you simply check by jacking the car up, place your hand on the tire at 3oclock and 9 o’clock and if it shakes left to right you need to change your tie rods don’t ever use a gun on a tie rod end to tighten so much about this guys video is wrong
Amsoil with a Fram filter...hmmm.
Broke sprag in the torque converter.
Yup, so i jus ended up getting a stage 3 torque converter.
From what I’ve seen on other vids you may have the part names switched.
Sorry about that. Which names did I have switched?
@@ksmotorsports9701 the black plastic part you called the solenoid... It’s the transducer. The part in the bag is the solenoid...no biggy just sayin 👍
Sorry about that. Got my names switched.
@@ksmotorsports9701 I have 5.9 magnum with 46RE. I have exhausted my research skills; so maybe you might have the answer or know someone who might. I have checked the transmission out. All seems fine no grinding sounds from my knowledge of typical grinding noises, no slipping. No torque converter nasty sounds. What I do know is that it shifts fine till i get about the 40 mph to 55 I really have had to rev the engine to get it past 55 and then it's smooth. Repeat if i brake below 55?
@@netguru78 mine did that for a while, cracked input shaft which leaked fluid and the pressures went crazy. Which cracked my valve body. Which then overheated my transmission and burnt up all clutches. You may be looking at a rebuild if it hasn’t already taken a dump on you. 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins / 48RE
Thank you this helped me driver side was stuck
Yea no problem glad I could help.
Broken sprag gear
Freewheeling stator, or locked stator?
Damm... got the same truck doing the same thing... was it also shifting fast for you? 20mph and was in a high gear. Highway gear?
It was actually shifting normal through all gears, just at a full stop it still wanted to go.
TPS
What size socket for the drain plug?
You would have to use a 3/8 drive ratchet and a short extension.
TQ lockup is bleeding past
Actually it was the "sprag bearing" that went bad. It was stuck in lock up, and couldn't disengage when in idle.
