Full speed in the Rain UK Drift Pro Championship Final
An exciting day at Snetterton Circuit with the UK Drift Pro Championship, car show and time attack. It was raining all day making a real challenge to the drivers to be able to score good points and get to the next stage of the race.
It was a challenge to the spectators and photographers too. I also went through the challenge as it was too windy ruining the audio, and difficult to keep the camera dry. But nothing better than be prepared for any adversity that it can come during the day. Even though it was raining I really enjoyed and had an amazing day.
For those who enjoy and want to easily support the channel I appreciate if you invite me a Coffee:

I want to become a photographer
That's awesome, it is the best thing, too many opportunities and people to meet as well as locations. have you started already?
nice
Thanks 😎
Good tips. I had my first attempt yesterday. It’s a really basic canon camera. I’ve lots to learn. Panning is really tricky.
Thank you very much. I am happy you found it helpful. How was your first attempt? Any great photos? Panning are my favourites, and it is a real challenge, it will depend on the speed of the cars and the ability of panning as well as the shutter speed the lowest the hardest it is to take. I have seen other photographers panning F1 at 1/20 of the second, that's crazy and a lot of practice. Let me know if you have any question that I can help with.
@ Thanks for your interest. It went quite well. I got some good pictures, it’s a pity they can’t be posted here for feedback. But panning is a real art, that’s going to take a lot of practice. 😊🙏
@@meddlecho That's good to heard about. Indeed it is a real art. feel free to send me some on IG, I would love to see it. 😎

Great camera work!
Thank you very much 🤙
Thank you for the tips my man, would zone focusing work?
My pleasure, I am happy to know it helps. The focusing range works, but not all the time is 100% accurate. However you can have a look in my previous video where I review the lens and show the zone focusing around min 2 ruclips.net/video/zouxqkx6ifY/видео.html I hope that helps to clarify.
Love it.
Thanks, happy to know you loved it.
Watched them at oulton
That's cool. How was it? I haven't gone to the circuit this year
Who is the best driver in this series? Pretty cool that race at Brands Hatch!
there were two races during the weekend at Brands Hatch. This video is for the EuroNascar Pro Race 1 (Event race 2) Classification Final in 1st (24) Vittorio Ghirelli Chevrolet Camaro. 2nd (3) Paul Jouffreau Ford Mustang. 3rd (33) Lucas Lasserre Ford Mustang. Race 2 : 1st (50) Liam Hezemans Toyota Camry. 2nd (33) Lucas Lasserre Ford Mustang 3rd (7) Martin Doubek Ford Mustang. Vittorio Ghirelli and Liam Hezemans are the ones who are winning the races this series for EuroNascar Pro.
Remember once you have do loaded your images from your card (and backed them up) then you need to format the card(s) in camera. As for using Raw vs Jpeg's , well there is only one reason why I would shoot Jpeg's that's if your shooting for a Newspaper/magazine that needs the images straight away. Yes, over editting is a massive no no. As for shooting landscape or vertical do both, cropping reduces your mega pic's , only crop a landscape image when you have to .
Definitely, use Jpeg's when you need images straight away, it is not point to spend more time and stress out editing them. Thanks for your comment @paultrunfull3324
Hi there, I've been shooting motorsport ever since I could hold a camera, for teams/drivers/riders/magazines etc, you said about not using a fast shutter speed, well thats a yes and no answer if the car/bike is heading straight at you then you Need to use a fast shutter speed to stop the vehicle bouncing and the image looking like it has camera shake ! As for side on photos, panning shots start at around a 60th of a second and around f8 and then drop down/up if needed to get the rightbresults, also use continuos focusing, back button focus will help out if you can set it on your camera, if your lens has vc/os/ is set to on in mode 2 you maybe surprised how slow you can go ! Using a histogram for beginners is not easy , shoot in raw and you can alter the image later if you need to in p.p. As for frames per second put it on the highest frame rate, and use in short bursts dont hold it down unless theres a jump/crash ! One thing to remember holding a camera and lens all day is not fun, even if it's only a 70-200 f4 ! Use a monopod , not a tripod, tripods are to slow to move about and will get in the way.
Thanks @paultrunfull3324 great comment and a lot of good information. It is awesome you have shoot motorsport for different teams/drivers/magazines and more. Regards to the shutter speed I have seem people shooting at 1/10 sec and pictures are amazing I have tried it, but I need more practice still, I have achieved with 1/50sec. And 100% Cameras are heavy, and I agreed with you about carrying it all day, at the end of the day there is one thing to look forward to and it is a good shower, dinner, and sleep jajaja. I have explained what you are saying in the comment in another video Best 5 Tips to get started into Motorsport Photography ruclips.net/video/ptW-ESJVZg8/видео.html
Looking for a video on what you need to know about working around a hot track for safety, unspoken rules, things to watch for, what equipment I should wear, do i need a radio? Those kind of things. Tips for working automotive racing photographers at tracks would be great.
Hey, hope you are well, that is on my list, but as I haven't had too much involved inside the tracks I don't want to speak about something I don't have a lot experience of. However, each track has its own rules in terms of how one can get the media pass and how easy o difficult the request process can be. There are some things you need. 1) Liability insurance (in case of accident) 2) You can move freely on the track as far is safe to do so (there are some areas you can not stand to take picture for safety reasons) However whenever you are in the track always look for a quick exit or be safe as an incident can happen. 3) They will provide you a Media hi vis vest. 4) the radio it will depend if you are working with a team or someone else, or if you want to listen the circuit channel to know what is happening. I hope this can help and get you an idea of what you need to start with. Please, if you have any other enquiry let me know. Happy to help. Hopefully I can make a video with more details soon.
@@JDanielV27 Thank you so much for your response. Between other youtube channels and yourself it has helped me build up a mental plan for my days at the track over the next two weeks.
@@MannsWoodlandPerspective That's great to know, always happy to help. What tracks and races are you going to cover?
@@JDanielV27 this weekend it's Historics at Pitt Race International and next weekend it will be the Vintage Grand Prix at Schenley Park. Both hosted by PVGP.
@@MannsWoodlandPerspective It sounds incredible, last year I went to a historic circuit at Brands Hatch. I made a video about the history of Silverstone and it's really interesting the history and what the cars were like back then.
What lense were you shooting with ?
I was using the canon RF 100-500 mm f4.6-7.1
Okay, your footage is legitimately better than the official broadcasts. Brilliant job with this!
Hey how are you? Thank you very much for your comment. I am happy you enjoyed and liked the video. It is a great feedback.

I've been a Rallycross fan for a few years now, and I have NEVER seen anyone pass there before!
Definitely he went all in, in that part of the circuit. Though it wasn't the final round where they give everything.
Great footage! Was not expecting to see a Rallycross Mercades
Thank you! The driver is a nice person too. With the retro category there are a variety of cars and old models
Nooooo feel so bad for Bennett! Great footage though, event organizers totally bombed footage for this race.
Yes, it was a shame for @42Bennett that couldn't continue round 1. He is a great driver.
Great video! As an additional tip: turn off your image stabilization if your lens doesn’t have a panning setting. I forgot at the first event I went to to try panning and I had only a few nice photos.
Yes, that is a great tip and practice when the lens doesn't have stabilisation. Thanks for mentioning it. I am sure it will help someone else too. It is a shame you missed some shots in the first event, now you are ready for the next one 😎
This is a very helpful and knowledgeable video! I did not know that you could change the subject type to cars.
Ohh yes! now the cameras comes with different subject selection for focus tracking. People, Animals and cars. When you select cars and if it is a motorcycle it will look for the helmet. it is so cool!
Thank you so much
You're very welcome 😎
I'm a beginner, and in my first events I took my photos in 1/2000, and I was never happy with the result, so I'm going to try between 1/60@1/160! thanks for the advice my friend!
Oooh nooo! I know the feeling 🤦♂️. When all the photos are ruined for the shutter speed.... adjust the shutter depending on the car's speed and you're ability on panning to achieve great results. Hope you can get amazing photos this time, I'd love to see the results. Best regards my friend
@@JDanielV27 if you want to see it, iam gonna show you! Have a good one brother🤝
@@yoyoyoyoyoyo892 absolutely, looking forward to it 😎
Thanks for good movies. But can't you speak a little slower. It can be difficult to understand it all. I'm from Denmark. Regards, Henrik. :-) :-)
Hi Henrik, thanks for watching and comment. I'll try for next ones. Wish you all the best 😎🤙
Nice vid!
Happy to help, thank you very much 🤙
What settings would you use to avoid the ghosting when you take panning shots?
I have done panning with 1/60 sec of shutter speed, the thing is to follow the car and match the speed, it takes a bit of time to nailed it. Some Pros with more experience shoots 1/15 sec, it is crazy, I haven't got that level yet. in some cases I increase the shutter a bit more between 1/80 - 1/100 if the cars are going too fast for example when I am at the Drag Racing and following the Dragsters. I explain more in detail the settings in this video ruclips.net/video/ptW-ESJVZg8/видео.htmlsi=TBmxNSv3ObG4jz9V
most driver stay on the same line, so using back button focus. follow car and where you think you want the shot, focus on the car while its moving then let go of back button focus, when the car comes around again, open both eyes while looking through the view finder , while you both eyes are open you Peripheral vision comes into play and while looking and follow the car just keep the car in a steady frame then fire some shots, of course make sure your shutter button does not have focusing on it. you will get more shots sharp due to the camera not trying to focus all the time every time the shutter clicks. and even if the car gets at a slight angle the entire car can get sharp due to the F high number. so in conclusion focusing on the car rand letting go of back button focus gets you to practice of releasing the button when you want, also some will pre focus on where they think the car will pass, if so use 1 point auto focus on a spot where the car wheel will pass, or do what i just said above and wait for the next lap, also others car may take the same line so you can actually pan other cars with out refocusing. its all about paying attention to the spot you want to take the shot and where the cars passes... just remember there is more than 1 lap in a race so for practice focus on the car on one lap release button , next lap just fire away without focusing as long as that car stays on the same line /focal plane.
When shooting at night does the same settings work or you need a speedlite?
At night is quite tricky, you will need to bring up the ISO, too much will start getting some noise in the image, you can fix it after in post with denoise, but try not to increase it too a crazy levels. Lower aperture will help a lot too, Shutter speed will be similar. Try to find a good light spot so it will help to light the car. The Flash won't help at all as the cars are a bit far from the camera and the light will lose power over the distances, and if you use a more powerful flash you could dazzle the driver and that is not good. I hope this helps
@JDanielV27 thank you, I will help me a lot
The cool part about Santa Pod is you never know what's going to pull up to the line. Thank you love that English track.
Absolutely, anything can happen! It is so amazing. Thank you happy to know you enjoyed it. 😎
