Several notes.1, Dawn dish soap is safe for cleaning aluminum, be sure that the surface is rinse with clean water. 2, I used plastic and glass beads in my sand blasting cabinet. 3, my MIG welding gas is 90%Argon and 10% carbon dioxide and should not be used for TIG welding or as a purging gas

Super helpful. Thanks
I'm learning things! Metal shapes have always intrigued me!
Agree wish I could of had someone teach me this 30 years ago. I started self learning about 15 years ago. I’m glad there are people on RUclips who pass on their knowledge.
Thank you William, I will try it out on my upcomming build!
Thank you, great technique. 👍👍🇨🇦
Kyle sent me here. 👍👍🇨🇦
I was sent here by Carter, too! I'm glad he found your channel. 😊
THanks for watching
Packing tape is the best mold release I’ve been doing this for years I love that someone made a video about it I tried to tell wray schelin about this I don’t think he understood lol 😂
Hi, Yup, I have heard that masking tape will work as well. Thx for watching. B
Kyle from Carters auto restyling sent me here. This is an interesting art form.
I am also a sendover from Carter's channel....also very impressed with the video discussing the shape/form relationship.
Glad it helped. B
Great content. I am here because Kyle from Carters Auto Restyling mentioned your channel and how your profile template method worked. Really like how you explain things, thanks!
Thanks for watching
Carter Auto Restyling recommend your channel because of this video.
I will have to look up Carter Auto Restyling. Thx
@ His latest video mentions your channel.
Great channel. Subscribing now
Thank you!
@williamtromblay6795 thank you for all the info
Sent here buy Kyle at Carter Auto Restyling. Glad I came by. Great way to make a profile template. thank you for sharing.
Here from Kyle's video as well, new subscriber!
FYI - Kent White died May 19, 2024. Had a tragic fall in his driveway.
Hi, yes, I know of Kents passing. thx
When did the family name go from Trembley to Tromblay?
My great grandfather changed it when they moved to Crystal Falls, Mi in the early 1900's.
Who makes that radius gauge?
Hi, I recommend the radius gauge set from Fay Butler, you can purchase them off his website. B
Great idea ...
Fitchburg WI here ... what a great video set ... like going to a class at MATC ...
I'm assuming that are designs that are very difficult to take out of form when you are shaping.... like possibly a one piece bowl where the diameter of the top is smaller than the diameter in the middle. Would handling this situation be appropriate for a video?
@@zekecook6586 Hi, I can do a video on that subject in the future. Thx B
Very clever-Thank you!
Thanks for covering this information to the community. Very essential information.
Bill, I’ve been extremely impressed with your metal shaping knowledge and skills and your ability to teach. But it’s clear that’s just one of your many strengths. Your concise and authoritative explanation shows the depth of your knowledge and understanding as well as how much you care. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you
Great Video! Through my 50 years of flying, I have heard of and seen so many incidents/accidents due to Fuel management. I was even complacent myself and got by with a little warning and got educated real fast. I now have a small label right above my fuel gauges on my C172 states "These gauges are lying to you" I always physically stick both tanks prior to every flight.
They say, regulations, AD's and placards are written in blood. I too had a fuel issue once, with water in the gas tank and almost ended up on a beach 2 miles from the airport. Thanks for watching. B
Best explanation of how to produce a reverse , on YT
Thank you, B
Not netal shaping but still interesting.
👍👍😎👍👍
Brilliant 👍😎👍
Great idea!
Johnsons Paste Wax has been discontinued. The only way to get it is through the secondary market and it's expensive. Maybe $60 to $75 for a can.
BS-the local ACE hardware has it sitting on the shelf-
My local ACE has it sitting on the shelf-
@ Word on the street is it is out of production. I have enough for my life time, planning on retirement when I use the last little bit :)
Good morning Bill, you sure have alot of great looking sheet metal tools and equipment in your shop. Thanks for sharing your expertise and talents. Take care and good luck.
Thank you for watching!
Good morning, great demonstration for template use. I use my laser for a lot of projects such as this. Thanks for a realistic use of this equipment. Take care and good luck.
Very, very easy and clear presentation . More, please😊
Thanks! Glad it was helpful
Brilliant solution! Guess who got a laser-level for Xmas. Australian viewers might like to know, that the plastic board is branded as corflute and is available at Bunnings. If anyone has access to aluminium wire - as used in electrical-engineering - it is very malleable and could be used along the sharpie-line to make a profile to mark the corflute. It can be easily bent using fingers and a light mallet. I found my wire inside an old Lincoln welder, it is about 4mm in diameter.
I have been trying to purchase Johnson's Paste Wax for a few years and cannot find it unless someone on Ebay is charging over $200.00. I do not think it is being produced any longer. I hope I am wrong. It works great for lubricating wood drawers in cabinets or furniture. Put it on, rub it off and the drawers glide smooth and easy. It prevents the drawer and the runner from wearing into each other. I just checked Home Depot and no listing. Ace handles Minwax but no Johnson's. How old is your tub of wax? 30 years? For mixing Bondo, use a putty knife, scrape the pallet and turn the mess over. Each time you scrape, you pick up unmixed product and incorporate it into the pile. Stirring with a stick takes more time and is no where near as effective. Thanks for the tip on the plastic cardboard and the use of wax and bondo to make an exact template. I have never seen this done before.
Hi, Good to know about the putty knife. My tub of wax is more than 30 years old. I figure that when it is gone, I will retire:) Thanks for watching.
I have used Mcguires Gold Class Carnuba paste wax (can) for this process, and it worked great also.
Another great video, thanks a lot for sharing.
Another very informative video...thanks Bill.
If for some reason you can't use Bondo, boatwrights have a process called "spiling" that will also make accurate patterns.
Thank you. I'm trying to come up with a collaboration project for you and Ron Covell.
why...
Great job, Bill!
Bill! Excellent presentation as always. Perfect technique. You can also use water soluble mold release available from autobody shops used for fiberglass/gelcoat mould release. Thank you, for taking the time and sharing your knowledge!
That's a slick method
Great technique, as always.
HAVE YOU EVER MADE ONE OF THOSE COWLS?WOULD BE AMAZING TO SEE....
I haven't made a teardrop cowl... yet... :) I would love to do one.
Jesus did weep !!! Great idea but he didn’t half go on and on and on ….. Could have wrapped it up in two minutes.
Really? Maybe so in 2 minutes, but we would all lose any additional tips that are pertinent to the process. I love the lateral tips and information he gives in every one of his videos!
Hi, Always hard to please everyone. When I explain something in two minutes, someone will always say "What, I don't understand?". Thanks for watching and keep on keeping on.
Thank you
Great information as always. Thanks
Excellent!
This technique, with slight modification, is also handy for taking a profile to make forming dies for a Pulmax type tool
Hi, Yup, great way to make Pullmax tooling as well.
thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experiences Bill. these videos are great.
Glad you like them.
Whenever Bill drops a video, I sit down and take notes.
Thanks
