    Nice! And as soon as you said simple as that I thought I'd have a go at learning this🤣 This Thursday's homework isn't too bad! PS this move is on the stylish side, which could make it difficult for those of us who find stylish extremely challenging😅 And I suspect it's called Blues Comb because we'll have the Blues if we can't do it 😂🤣

    Another super move to memorise and include in the repertoire! Homework for the week has started early! And your mention of Pretzel Bounce reminds me I need to revise that move and also Pretzel Hip Bumps! Learning, relearning and remembering never stops 😂🤣

    As someone who finds footwork extremely challenging, I find I have to watch videos like this many times before I understand what's going on. So the more times I watch it, the more I understand. Just been watching it again and because I've studied some of your other Colombian videos, eg Colombian and Back, Colombian Turns and Colombian Shoulder Slide, as well as your Tango videos, I've been introduced to the terms in synch, out of synch, and the amazing term asynchronous! As a result I'm understanding a lot more, and can now appreciate what you mean when you say there are several different sorts of Colombians! They're definitely not easy, although paradoxically out of synch/asynchronous is easier! You could say they're definitely not a cinch/synch🤣😂

  • @terryfesenko653

    Excellent demonstration, and explanation that Manspin, Shoulder Slide and Step Across are all basically the same move, but done at different heights. Excellent way of remembering them!

  • @terryfesenko653
    @terryfesenko653 7 дней назад

    Really nice! Another must for the repertoire! However, I was initially puzzled, because you mentioned standard Colombian which I thought was step behind, step in front, for both the lady and the man, something I think you've called in sync in the Colombian Turns video. But then you explained that it was technically an asynchronous Colombian because because one went in front while the other went behind. This is presumably called out of sync. I feel I've learned more dancing terms in this video, as well as a fantastic move 😂

I shall try to remember it as a Pretzel with two bumps in the middle 😂Nice bit of homework for the end of the week. I had my doubts though when I saw the name of the move, but when I saw the video was not too long I guessed it couldn't be too complicated.

PS hard homework for Thursday, learning and relearning never stops 😂🤣

      It's a great move, glad you like it. If you and your partner have reliable technique this will work fine but on the flip side if you have something shaky technique wise this may well show it up (that's useful too though, can't fix something if you don't know it's broke). Hope you have fun with it.

    Interesting move, almost not modern jive/ceroc, ideal for Chubby Checker, The Twist! PS I thought before seeing the video this was going to be The Twist as in the move which is called The Sit in Salsa, a cross between a lean and a dip. I was surprised that it was Chubby Checker's Twist!

      Great thing about Modern Jive is the amazing amount of freedom in what you can do.. as a result you can find things from all over, often unexpected things, that you can incorporate and will work great. The challenge is to try things out and see what works well for you and your partner, if it's fun and leadable/followable why not? Cheers, N

  • @terryfesenko653
    @terryfesenko653 Месяц назад

    This is one of those annoying moves that I like so much, but find so incredibly difficult to understand and learn. I'm a slow learner so this is going to take a long time to sink in! One comment regarding the description of what to do. The first time you turn the lady it's anticlockwise, the second time, going back the other way, it's clockwise. But in both occasions you call it a turn. Usually you refer to the anticlockwise turn as a return, and the clockwise turn as a turn. So I find the explanation of this move confusing. And while step behind step in front is a familiar instruction for the Colombian, I find the term in sync puzzling, so more confusion! As with other things, it's quite difficult for someone who understands something complicated to explain it to someone who doesn't understand it! At the end of the day, as always, it's up to me to study the video and your verbal explanation in detail and repeatedly in order to understand and learn the move. I thought First Move Traverse and Circular Colombian were difficult, but I managed to get my head round them, but Colombian Turns is one or more steps beyond them in difficulty, reminding me of some of your Tango moves which I gave up trying to learn 😂

  • @terryfesenko653
    @terryfesenko653 Месяц назад

    That's an amazingly super move, but also amazingly complex and complicated, especially for those of us who find footwork difficult and challenging! But it's such a fabulous move that I'm determined to learn it and improve my footwork. It's the sort of move that in class can shatter your confidence and leave you dejected. So glad I'm familiar with the Colombian! PS this week's homework is very hard. I knew it was going to be difficult when I saw the length of the video 6:9, much longer than the usual 3 or 4😂

  • @madmick6805
    @madmick6805 Месяц назад

    Just watching this excellent video again after having been seen Tango ochos demonstrated at ceroc class last night. It was a confidence shattering experience, so I'm returning to your videos to get back on track and regain confidence!😂 I can see that being able to do the Full Tango Box with a lady on the dancefloor would be a great pleasure and achievement! So it's still on the to do list 😂

  • @terryfesenko653
    @terryfesenko653 Месяц назад

    Very nice. But although the move seems easy and straightforward from the visual demonstration and verbal explanation, we would still need to practise it to make it look as relaxed and elegant as in the video. It's another challenge for those of us who find footwork difficult!

    Nice move. I remember though learning before the pandemic lockdown, a move called Sway With Walk where instead of both walking with the same feet, you walk a mirror image, ie inner foot, outer foot. Both look good and work. Great expansion of learning and repertoire, so you can find moves to suit the music that's playing, even if you don't like the music!😅

I've always thought Shoulder Rolls were potentially dangerous for the lady, ever since I learned the Extended Double Handed Basic before the pandemic. You have to give them plenty of elbow room, otherwise the elbow makes the move resemble something from karate or kung fu 🤣😂

      Hi Martin, you are spot on.. two steps per beat is quite quick.. though it feels nice to slower tunes. I use a single step per beat on tunes faster than lesson speed and also when I teach the move in class, the extra time gives students a chance to get the technique and shapes right so they can do it well if they do speed it up. On the other hand it tells you what to do and in what order.. so when a student asks you about a move you taught them 10 years ago you can work out what it is and hopefully how to help them!
