I caught one of these guys yesterday in my creek... It's beautiful. I keep him in my freshwater tank. These have got to be the most colorful freshwater fish. I swear it's like the freshwater equivalent to a clownfish. And I got lucky because usually these guys are super hard to catch but luckily I caught him off - guard and it even turned out to be SUPER colorful. I know I'm ranting so much but it's awesome because it's like catching a tropical fish in a little creek.

For anyone interested, look up the previous NYS smallmouth record from the st. Lawrence. That's a result of eating goby, the things girth almost matches it's length

We seem to have opposite issues. I never have issues with smallmouths taking food from me but trout never give me the chance. Personal preference I guess. Makes you wonder if the fish recognize individual divers and have “opinions” about all of us
