Cold Steel Kyoto 2: pocketable fixed tanto
I own 2 of those, a neon green compact and another black full aluminum with belt cutters (serrations). That's definitely not defective, the locks are a bit rigid and sturdy at first but like any knives they were made for use, the more you actually fiddle with them the smoother they get. My roughest one was the compact cause the base is grivory plastic so the locking mechanism was pretty tough, after a few months I can flick the knife open with no fingers. Although they retail a great edge the main challenge with them for the blade razor sharp since they're curved blades.
Fourth
I am fourever in your debt sir
Is this beautiful buck a blade hq exclusive?
Yes it is!
Yup I'm buying this rn
It's worth the money, great blade
3 doors, solid choice
Thanks man
Always love a USA Schrade 🇺🇸
They're great! Thanks for commenting
Veff serrations are always dope 👌
Best serrations besides Spyderco, in my opinion
Very nice
Thanks
I Stopped buying Gerber knives, after A/HOLE "SAS" Bear Grills put his name with them. The guy Couldn't Fight his way out, of a wet papper Bag .
If you are going to comment on my videos have the decency to not disrespect somones military service. Being in the SAS is being in the SAS, regardless of the knives that person puts their name on.
How is the sheath?
A little on the cheaper side but it's functional and easy to carry. I'll be doing a full review on it soon
personally i feel that the sheath is the biggest downside to this knife. In the last year of carry the knife has fallen out, a strap will unclasp due to sitting down in a certain way or brushing up against something at the right angle, and lack of carry options other than scout and MAYBE cross draw
@nikosfilipino yeah after another 2 weeks of carrying it I'm not a huge fan of the sheath. I hate that dang clasp man. It's always scraping on the knife blade or trying to close on it. I don't mind the vertical only carry since it's so small but I agree the option would be nice. And some of the stitching is coming out already. Still love the knife
@@jacobreviewsthings I was thinking about getting it and then having a custom sheath made. Because I have heard that the sheath sucks
I think that would be a good idea
That's a crazy edge
One of the best scandi grinds I've ever seen
Cool 😎
Thanks
A Part of me wants to Purchase the Mayhem but that Lock is a Major Turnoff. I had 2 XL Espada’s and they were Massive yet they were Safe Sleek and Honestly usable. Iam a Cold Steel Aficionado and Love that Brand more then any Brand out there but since GSM Took Over Cold Steel starting Nose Diving. I’ve had almost every Model Cold Steel Produced and Loved almost all of them. Since GSM has Taken over the Heat Treat and Quality went to Hell. I wis I didn’t have to sell my Collection however after Being Laid off and having Bills to pay, I had No Choice.
I'm sorry to hear that you have to sell your collection man. I was selling my most of my knives when I started this channel for the same reasons. Hopefully things get better for you man.
Yeah I've heard the same thing from other people about GSM cold steel products. Most of my cold steel knives come from before they took over
This is what happens when people play with weapons like they are a fidget spinner. These were on Amazon for $135.15 at the end of May 2024, so I purchased one. I EDC this in my front left pocket and alternate it with a Recon 1 XL, Espada or Talwar XL. I plan on making a Signet ring for it. Possibly a Snaggletooth or Wave device as well.
Nice man, I'm glad you got one for a reasonable price
Factually wrong. This knife was designed in the 90s as a demand by South African government specifically for women to carry, bcs rape was rampant. That’s why the matriarch comes from
I also love persian style knives. Im biased ofc but I love the super curvy bellies. They are so sharp.
Same here!
I used to work at a knife store and now I have thousands of dollars in fixed blades. Cruwear, s30v, cpm 154, many premium steels. I was getting %60 off discounts 😂😂
That's awesome! you got a way better discount than me lol
GRFN!? What kind of scales ? On the Spyderco Police?? That must be different than what they normally use? Which is FRN. Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon.
It's frn, I got my acronyms mixed up. In my experience zytel, frn, and grfn are all functionally identical.
Nice job. A lot of stuff man, mostly love the fact you have a lot of knives that others haven't reviewed. Thanks for the content. Keep going wit your channel, your a natural bro.
Thank you. I always appreciate hearing things like that. That's honestly one of the reasons I started my channel. I'd get frustrated not being able to find videos or reviews on a lot of knives I wanted.
It's not a defect. It's a stiff safety release
I've handled/sold dozens of provokes in every variation. It is definitely defective. There's a big difference between normal lock stiffness and being so stiff it's painful to disengage the lock. I was given this provoke specifically for that reason. But I don't mind so it's all good
I always liked this knife, Buck always delivers a crazy sharp toothy edge, say what you will. They need to go back to the marksman days……
Slippery parallel grooves on Ultem :( Square grip (ouch) Great blade shape, great steel for the $$$
Good stuff I would have a great collection except for I always give them away as gifts
Nice man that's a cool thing to do
I love and carry the cold steel Spartan just find, love it. Didn’t like in my pocket so I got a case and carry it on my side. In fact I have 2.great video thanks for sharing.
Thanks man. I didn't even know they make a case for the spartan
sucks ass at chopping but thats to be expected from a large dagger
Well said
LOL, I saw that vegetation and thought you were in Oz but of course we share similar species!
Haha i wish, I was in Hawaii on vacation. Hopefully I will be here someday.
@@jacobreviewsthings Ah ha, I see, yeah haven't even visited Hawaii as yet let alone lived and worked there, who knows, maybe one day?? Thanks for replying!
A real bad boy prob can go anywhere with it.
Oh yeah! I can't think of any situation this knife couldn't handle
They're using aluminum scales why not paint both sides, or better put something comfortable in hand over it
Yes! That's my biggest issue with the knife. I wish they would have put some texture on the metal side of done something to make it feel less slippery
Buck has been bringing out some gd knives.
Oh yeah they do. It's hard to beat a buck
😮
You would really like the Emerson PTac
Good to know, I'll look into it
Damn, but your not even telling the blade steels? Why? One of the most important things is metallurgy. Otherwise, it's a good video.
Thanks man. Honestly I just had too many knives to get through, the video was already half an hour long lol
How did it preform?
It's a absolute monster of a chopper. They did a great job with the steel as well. I've never had a knife with an edge that holds an edge like this one. There's a lot of metal behind the edge so it's kind of difficult for things like whitling. But I also might just not be used to a knife this thicccc lol
great collection!
Thanks man, that's always nice to hear
Technically speaking, that Tanto style blade knife has a through tang, since it has a pommel.
Good to know, thanks for commenting!
Love it.
Thanks! I do too
I carried my persian for a couple years. Great knife. Alan Folts knows how to make them!
Great vid , nice collection!!! 👍🙏
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video
I have this same knife. I can promise everyone this thing is deadly. If anything, its too good .
Thanks man, I'm glad you like yours too!
Buck/Ka-Bar. "If you have one, you dont really need the other." Left me speechless. It hasn't been about need since your first.
That SOG is assisted opening not an auto.
@@charlessalmond7076 ??????
I like large CS folders as well. However there's a limit of practicality. I see this piece more like a collectors item an conversation piece.
Well said
Watch for chinese copies
You have a nice collection. I wonder, what are the most sold knives in the store where you work?
Honestly I have no idea. The average person doesn't want to spend a ton of money so cheaper Kershaws, Smith and wessons, spydercos Byrd line, that kind of stuff.
As a cold steel aficionado I completely agree with your assessment of this product. I had the same concerns about the heavy blade. I had a dangerous episode with my Voyager XL Tanto and luckily that blade isn’t very heavy.
Thanks man, kind words are always appreciated. Yeah it's just too much for me. Hopefully you're ok from your episode with the voyager.
You work at TSA?
Haha no thank God
Awesome collection of knives and great video 👍👍👍
Thanks man, I appreciate hearing that.
I am considering buying one. What version is the best to buy?
The one in this video. The all blacked out one is cool but it doesn't look nearly as awesome as this one. I haven't handled the smaller version but it looks dope from the videos I've seen
@@jacobreviewsthings Thanks for the reply I am stuck between this one and the blackout version.
@pross6525 no problem man. Yeah that's a tough choice. The other thing is that the black version has more canvasy micarta while the white micarta scales feel more like ivory
