Watch part 1 here: ruclips.net/video/Cc_T0nKASVQ/видео.html Hello! In this video I break down my thoughts on the last two Jaws movies, and some of the science behind them based on my opinion as a marine biologist, and a casual viewer. Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge, are easily the two worst sequels to any movie I've ever seen, but I have to be honest and say it was really fun to make fun of the...

Nice video. You should visit the Field Museum in Chicago, IL someday.
I've got you all beat, 'cause I lived 1/4 of a mile away and my first visit was during W. W. 2 and later in the 1950's when my friends and I would hang around every Sunday all day, especially during SNOW and rainy days.....It was like our clubhouse and we never trashed anything in the museum 'cause that's how much we enjoyed going there and not having to pay to get in......Now It's probably 5 bucks or so.......
We almost don't have videos on youtube that aren't on one specific thing and nothing else. It was great to watch a really cool video on birdwatching that also raised a relevant discussion around the subject! Thanks for that :)
I got into BU for class of 27!! I am majoring in marine science
Congrats and best of luck!
I hope you can see and reply this ...apart from medical courses which other course is good and has opportunities at Bu
This was my favorite museum my parents brought me to when i was really young…. And now, about 40 years later, I brought my parents there today! JUST AS MAGICAL!
Does BU have a nursing program ?
New subscriber here!! Great video!!
ur so cool, u give off a great vibe and ur so helpful. Thank you :)
I don't think you should care about black people or women in this movie. It wasn't intended to be racist. Ellen Brody is what allows Chief Brody to go on to sea and go "confront" his shark. I mean it's fine to notice and include diversity, but it's not the point of the movie.
This movie is not meant to be taken quite literally as a "rouge shark". This movie demonstrates Hegel's thesis, antithesis, and synthesis with the three men. It points out the corrupt nature of capitalism in the mayor. The shark and Brody are symbols of the psychology of Carl Jung. The shark is a symbol of Brody's attitude towards safety and violence. The shark is the manifestation of Brody's suppression of his shadow. Brody is fearful of the ocean, which means that the ocean is his unconscious part. The boat is a symbol of his conscious part. When the shark gets on the boat, it's when the unconscious and conscious part join together. As far as other things here, it goes onto the psychoanalysis of order and disorder of the imaginary of Lacan and that's it's all an illusion. This means that the people don't fear the shark, but rather they fear the disorder that the shark brings. Yes, it's 25 feet long, yes the same shark kills different people. I wish it could have had a scene where it shows how closely a surfer resembles a seal or a sea turtle, but they didn't know that back then...It's a shame because I am a big fan of every sharks and I see this hidden meaning that seems completely missed by the general population. I wish it had been multiple sharks or more realism towards actual sharks.
Interesting fact Peter Benchley actually cares for sharks now he has always loved sharks and only wrote the book about them because of a thresher shark that fucked up his boat
Benchley died a long time ago.
The start scene is supposed to be a POV shot of the shark and the guy who acts hooper is Richard Dreyfus and the jump scares arnt why it’s so scary
It was so timeless because of the way it captured the fear of the unknown and the terrible animatronic is why u might not be scared
Us jaws fans only talk about 1 and 2
I am so happy that you received the award. Frankly, you have always been passionate about marine biology, the environment, and BU.
I am so proud of you. You are so beautiful. I know people might think i am biased because I am your mom but I am not biased at all.
Nevertheless, never trust sharks.
I am more of a tiger shark person. You should review Deep Blue Sea.
Back in the 70s not a lot people wanted to be marine biologist's untill they saw Richard dreyfuss's character matt hooper and alot people after thought it was cool. So the marine biologist field has alot to thank jaws for. So there were negatives and positives with this movie
Hey! I am a rising senior and looking for colleges to add to my list and BU is definitely a very tempting school for me. I want to follow the path of becoming a physician and hence how do you think about the pre-med classes and the environment for aspiring students to enter this field?
The thing about the original Jaws is it's not about a shark. It's about a man scared of the ocean and everything in it. And all the events in the first half confirm his fears. But then he goes out with two guys - one brains, one brawn - like an angel and a devil on his shoulder, and he overcomes his fears. It's a character piece, not a scary movie. And he kills the shark with the equipment provided by both the brains and the brawn.
Heyyy Coretta, I'm actually in the college search process. I want to study software engineering and I'm looking for a school that will have it as a major like separately. Does BU have that?
I just listened to this again while I’m working. This is so good, Coretta! “The journey is the reward”!
If anyone is watching, I got into BU class of 2025 (marine science) with a 25 on my ACT. You can do it people, standardized tests dont mean anything!! What matters is your essay(s) and your committment to your field, and your ability to communicate that. Be personal and put your heart on those essays, don't say basic stuff that anyone can look up on the internet, be yourself and tell your story!
What were some of your leadership and extracurricular?
@@deahnnabrown6433 I am an avid sailor and did plenty of time on the water, mostly offshore regattas. Nothing science related though. I also taught sailing to special needs kids one summer. All things that kinda have to do with my field but that also don’t necessarily relate 100% to marine science. I really think what truly matters is who you are and your ability to showcase it in a college application.
This is great advice! Looking back, I can say with full confidence that a demonstrated passion and commitment to whatever you want to do goes so much farther than grades/test scores. Thanks!
Congratulations!! 🎉🎉👏👏
Congratulations, Coretta! So proud of you!
Oh and great vid
I love the detail on the plants and jellyfish
I hear you earned an A in all your classes this semester!
As a BU Alumni, it’s just an incredible place!
