Taurus 605 at the Range. .38 vs. .357 mag, Hogue Monogrip, Speedloader
Просмотров 26 тыс.7 лет назад
Testing out the new grips and improved sights. A few observations: 1. .357 158 grain kicks about twice as hard as .38 P 125 grain SJHP. I wouldn't want to shoot more than 15 rounds of the 158 grain, even with the new grips. I normally carry .357 125 grain SJHP which will kick somewhere between the .38 P and .357 158 gr. 2. The new Hogue Monogrip (see my earlier video on this) helps with overall...

Speedloader vs. Speedstrip - .357 / .38 Revolver - Taurus 605 / 85
Просмотров 218 тыс.7 лет назад
In this video we compare the speedloader from HKS (model 36) to the speedstrip from QuickStrips for .357 or .38 caliber small-frame revolvers. I haven't used either of these at the range yet, but I can already tell which one I like better and why. See for yourself and don't forget to comment your favorite below!

In this video I compare two holsters, both made by the same company. They are both very high quality leather. One is IWB and the other is OWB.

A hair dryer might speed up the drying process.just a thought
You can't tape the stirrup so it holds in place??
I use HKS speedloaders for 357 magnum ammo. I use speedstrips for 38 special ammo. Both work well.
Very helpful, thanks!
They should call it a pain, not a pin.
Testor’s white followed by Testor’s orange another option.
Many thanks!👍👍👍
That looks like Reds indoor range. Are there still bullet holes in the divider walls?
I just got a new 605 Defende3r and will ABSOLUTELY be installing these! BTW- I have a pair on their way for a vintage Model 66 I just got also! Thank you for a job well done!
What about single action revolvers.. does the transfer bar work the same way? I have a heritage rough rider and a heritage barkeep. I'm always kinda nervous about letting the hammer drop after i load them.
Stop dropping the slide on an empty chamber.
I was trying to figure out how the transfer bar works! Thanks for the great explanation!
Appreciate you, grips have been a pain trying to find comfortable ones that actually fit the gun without mods. I'm trying the Hogue, going to order some, I see they are only about $30. I was worried about that exposed backstrap, but it looks like a non-issue.
I just purchased a Taurus M650 .357 and was checking to seem if it has a transfer bar which it does, but your video completely explains how it all works. Thanks!!
I just purchased one. I decided for extra mags to go with the Mec-Gar 8 round black. Excellent mags that make the Custom II look even better, with the black slide and black extended butt!
thanks just bought a taurus 856
moon clips
Carry both
The grip won't full seat flush on the back
Thank you! You did a good job on your video and compared to others which totally lost me because they didn’t show the detail that you just showed it now all comes to play it now makes total sense so unless the trigger is pulled completely back, the gun will not fireperfect I understand this now. Thank you.
You wanna use a starter punch for roll pins. It has a round tip.
I'm going to put mine on after I clean the gun! Thanks! 👍👍
Just switched out my grip on a Taurus 942m. Your video applied perfectly well to that small frame revolver! Thanks! PS….keeping the replacement pin in was definitely the tricky part of the entire process!
thanks!
I have this Toro 605 model. I want to change out my grips to. I'll keep this video for a reference. When I find the hand grips I want.
I use an Exacto Knife and a hair dryer to clean the sight up and ensure the paint dries hard.
SMH.. Dude, you have an external safety. You dry fire and practice sweeping the safety off. Bad S happens very quickly, you may not get an opportunity to rack the slide.
Just installed mine. Use a roll pin punch because it self centers the punch. I used a gunsmith block that has holes in it to allow the roll pin room to fall out during extraction. Also, make sure the new roll pin rides in the molded channel of the new grip. It guides the saddle to the proper location. I used blue loctite on the new screw.
Founded in 1856, Mayhew Tools is an ISO 9001-certified company and the oldest punch and chisel manufacturer in the United States.
I want to be your friend guys and do what you guys do. How do I start? Any info will help greatly 😅
I purchased that same kimber ll tone 45 back in 2016, it shot great out of the box and continues to be a solid pistol. Excellent review bud!
You didn’t show the two grips next to each other
❤❤❤❤❤❤

Among my 1911 collection, I have a Custom Two-Tone just like this one. It's a beautiful 1911 at an affordable price and a fine shooter as well. My wife has her own 1911 collection and is quite competent with them.
I just beat the pin out using a craftsman 1/8 punch and a small ball peen hammer on my bed. I put Viridian laser grips that I had a coupon with the 605. They are just the right size as they allow your pinky to rest on the grip also. They also retain the Taurus Logo. For $100 a great upgrade I think. They are hard rubber like Hogue. The laser runs off two larger watch batteries in the grip. Grip goes on with 3 screws. The switch is on the front of the grip and goes on when you grab the grip. It has a on/off switch on the base of the grip.
I would have both. It depends on the application. 2 speed strips for concealed and loaders around the house. A Glock for a New York Reload!
Nice, congrats
Interesting video. I that old Cap & Ball revolvers were "more dangerous" and people on horse would have the empty chamber method to avoid and accident.
I missed the part in the Gun Safety Manual that says it's okay to leave a hot weapon sitting on a table. You know you can pull the hammer of a revolver back while you're aiming down range? In any case, it's totally fucked up that the transfer bar didn't protect you. I hope you get a full refund, and buy a Ruger or something else next time. Glad nobody was hurt, but your negligence is a bigger issue than the pistol.
Thanks for the instructions, quite helpful and well laid out. You mind sharing details about that holster, look really nice.
Thank you for the great video
Speed strips all the way.
Very good, thank you.
I have the exact same gun. It's been nothing but problems. I put probably a thousand rounds through it expecting it to "break in" which didn't happen. I personally own 10 1911s and have never had any issues with any of them right out of the box brand new except for the kimber. I think it's ridiculous that kimber just can't put out a consistently quality product . There should be no break in period. Nobody else seems to insist that their firearm will be much better after a few hundred rounds break in. Im happy that yourself and others are happy with their kimber , but I will never buy another. I still own that kimber and after much gunsmithing it's a lot more reliable but still not flawless. With all that being said , the most reliable and flawless running 1911 that I own, out of colts, sigs, springfield etc... is an ati titan 3" ! I think I paid around 300.00 for it!
Appliance paint
How were they to install? Does the bolt placement line up with the original locations?
I prefer the strips myself.
I have 2 Kimbers and find that the 8 rd kimber mags sometimes won't feed the last round. but my wilson mags no problems in over 2000 rds. TLE II Pro and LW Arctic carry both in urban carry holsters and use Hornady and Sierra defensive rounds. My Kimber 7 round mags work fine. I also wanted a Kimber for years and now looking at a 3rd one.
