Baba Charlies' is the ONLY to die for Peranakan food !!!!!!!!!
TOTALLY AGREE!!! We need to tell the world!
Charlie's food is always fantastic. I wd my food thru Amy n also order Sambal Lenggong to bring home.
Oohhhh that sounds good too!
Get an Ang Mo to try panankan food ?
Yeah! He liked it! Also, Millie LOVES Peranakan food!
Hello friends, I always love watching your amazing videos, the food looks so flavourful. 😊 Hope you guys are doing fine. 🙏
Thank you! Yeah, we are good!! Do go and try Charlie’s for yourself! So good!
@@wonderlustfoodI will check out Charlie’s Peranakan food stall. 😊
Actually, most of the buak keluak (pangium) that we get in Singapore have already been detoxed in ash from the volcanoes in indonesia before they get shipped here so they're already safe for consumption, but people usually soak them in water for 5-7 days to get rid of the remaining ash and dust, as well as to soften and hydrate the flesh. Also, the tangy sour taste you get from the dish comes from the tamarind juice (aka assam) that has been incorporated into the gravy. Depending on the household recipe, some places also scoop out the flesh of the keluak and mix it into the gravy. That would be what we term "Rawon" style - much like the indonesian dish of nasi rawon but not as soupy. You might want to check out his Lo kai yik the next time you're there. It's a medley of chicken wings, offal, pork belly, cuttlefish, pig skin, water morning glory braised with fermented beancurd in red yeast and wine... Ahh it's heavenly... It's a dish that is soon to be extinct, and Charlie's is one of the last remaining places to have it in sg.
Wow this is amazing! I hadn’t even thought about the whole shipping process etc! Sounds like a fun documentary to make!
Haha Chase is a good sport. Perplexed by the musty nuts. 🤣
Hahaha! A good sport indeed!
that's glass noodles in the chap chye :D We pair the chili with the vegetables usually. It's cooked with fermented bean paste, no broth. May or may not have dried shrimp depending if the dish is vegetarian or not. It's a dish that tastes even better the next day.
Oh I see!! Thanks for sharing!! Good to know!
Feeling so hungry watching this. Need to go to golden mile!
Yeassssss every dayyyyyy 🤤
Good on you Chase, for having a go 👍
He’s a good sport!!
The xiao long bao looks (sounds?) yummy!
😂 it was!! Heheh. Thank you so much for watching and supporting this channel too!!
The dim sum looks so flavourful, my husband & I passed by this dim sum stall a few times previously, we haven’t tried their dim sum yet. 😊
It was very good!! Especially at 1am 😂😂
@@wonderlustfoodHope we stay in touch. 😊
Hello Jonty & Millie, I am your long time friend on RUclips, hope you guys are doing fine. 😊 The desserts look so mouthwatering. 💜 Hope we stay in touch.

Im not fomo at all ;'(
Awww more times to eat with you!
You, FOMO?! They left my house without me! Hahaha
@@jontytan 😂😂 ok well at least I was invited
The privilage of living in SG, womans can go out around that time without the fear of being rob or raped 😅
Yeah, we actually talked about this as the three of us were going about. Don’t take that for granted at all.
For good authentic Cantonese dim sum, try Yi Dian Xin from Imperial Treasures. (My dialect is Cantonese and I grow up eating decent authentic dim sum, so we are suckers for good/affordable dim sum.😂) Swee Choon's menu for me is kind of a hit and miss. Wouldn't be the place I will think of going when I crave dim sum. Sze Chuan dumplings and Xiao Long Baos aren't from Canto region so imho they aren't exactly "dim sum".😂 First time we tried their char siew bao we gave it a thumbs down. It ranks even lower than some of those neighbourhood bao shops'. The one at Chinatown Complex (Mongkok Dim Sum) makes it way better and cheaper.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. There is so much to try everywhere it’s hard to know what’s good. I’d agree with this place being a bit hit and miss. The company made the visit!
@@wonderlustfood yeah agreed. Have to try more then you will get to know which are are better ones. Well looks like you guys will be eating a lot more with this separate food channel. Yeah to more videos to come!
Much more eating to be done haha
Excellent!😊
Thank you! 😃
Yummy 😋
It was!
My go to order for Swee Choon is their signature Mee Sua Kueh (Fried longevity noodles), onion pancakes and plain la mian in onion oil (pulled noodles in onion oil).
Thanks for sharing.
Should have ordered food that is only available in the Jalan Besar branch and not even available for delivery; I.e. drunken chicken & egg white chicken.
Ah I didn't know, we asked a server the most popular things and she didn't mention these. Another night I guess!
The famous dessert in fortune centre is Yat Ka Yan at level 2
Yes!! We’ll be trying that soon too!!
What do you meant by..Mango tasted Floral?
It had a very aromatic flavour, that tasted almost like pollen! Heheh.
People!!!!.... I am trying to lose weight here..... 😅 Jonty and Millie, you are not helping!!!😊
