Hello and welcome to my channel.
I am an extremely enthusiastic photographer who has been taking photographs since the age of 10, when my parents bought me my first 110 film camera made by Halina and was called the Tele Wide.
Since the 70s I progressed to my first SLR, a Pentax P30 with a 50mm lens. (I wish I had never sold that camera) and from that point onwards I moved to Nikon and have pretty much stayed there ever since.
Due to my wife's passion for Olympus cameras we now own an extensive collection of both film and DSLR cameras from both Nikon and Olympus.
This channel will mainly focus (no joke intended) on photography, tactical equipment, gadgets and other useful products or ideas to help you.
I am not sponsored in any way and every item on this channel is bought by myself. All my comments are my own and totally honest both the positive and the negative.
Please support me in making more content by liking and subscribing and giving my fresh suggestions.

Ocoopa Hand Warmers. Twin Pack. Rechargeable. They. Work.
The Ocoopa rechargeable hand warmers are excellent quality and work really well.
The don’t take long to charge up and have the added facility of being magnetised, thus providing extra warmth I one area.
At level 3 I personally feel the are too hot to handle.
The blue charging level lights are easy to follow and offer handy inform action.
Compact hand warmers that can be recharged are so handy for both the young and the old.
As a quick way to warm up your hands in a remote location these are totally invaluable.
The single, yet dual, USB cable is excellent and save on too many leads.
The warmers also come with an extra loop to attach to you wrist if needed.

In the written description of the video you say it's waterproof against rain, but it's actually IP68 rated which is up 'waterproof' to 1 meter of fresh water for 30 minutes. I wouldn't try it myself but that is the manufacturers rating.

@johnlavin-ford8372 I just received this crossbow, and I'm already mad... I already lost 2 bolts out of the 3 they send, in the dirt, lol, either then that I love it! I ordered more bolts lol. What is the best range to site it in?
@ Nightmare buddy sorry you lost some bolts lol…. I reckon 25 metres
Fantastic video. Shame you didn’t continue your RUclips adventures,
@@TheKernowcowboy …..Hi, thank you for taking the time to comment.., I have so much to upload (bit overwhelming), my wife has been extremely poorly which has meant RUclips, temporarily, has taken a back seat … I have 4 air rifles and 2 crossbows to upload followed by loads of pistols… Thank you for being patient.
@ look forward to seeing those when you upload. Best wishes to your wife. 👍
So the camera sounds better? Lol
Great production value in all your videos. I think these review videos are so important. Keep em honest let people know the important info before they buy. How to get it started options etc. Great work.
@@DigitalWizard_DWW again very kind and supportive thank you… In real life I have been unbelievably busy hence a tonne more videos to upload…. Thanks for the support… yes, it’s important to be honest.
@ I look forward to checking the new content out when it’s ready.
I bought the exact same thing from a dollar store in Canada. It was use full once and I’m fairly certain it was only use full once because there was no other tripod around. It has so many tilt locks (not sure if that’s a professional term) lol so many locks and for some reason I could never get the shot I wanted.
@@DigitalWizard_DWW I was very disappointed with it… could not hold much at all… but fine for action cam or similar… ty for the comment
It’s even easier to deal with the stringer length. ADJUST IT. I had never seen this device before or strung a bow I was baffled but after some small adjustments the stringer works fine
Oil the rail DO NOT WAX YOUR BOUND AREA. You do not want to lubricate the area you want to have a “grip” or friction to the bolt.
@@DigitalWizard_DWW Good advice friend.
@@DigitalWizard_DWW just subbed…. I agree with your videos mate….
@ thank you I have been kicking around some ideas for new videos but they will likely be on the Rumble platform. I plan to transfer these videos there eventually. Thanks for the view and commenting. I look forward to learning more about you in the future.
@ Keep strong and true with your view points… The world is slowly waking up to what’s been happening…
I have the D2hs.. That has had very little use.
@@gordonbaird1949 It’s a great camera…. I don’t use mine as much anymore either… It’s a bit of history.
Did you get an answer about how to use a hot shoe mounted flash, when you are using this remote? I suppose the camera side remote could just be attached (taped?) to the side of the camera or the tripot, since it is not using the hot shoe for any techincal connection.
@@2x2KeKb … You can get a very cheap hot shoe adapter that expands the hot shoe… which has a live top and 2 dummy sides so you can use a flash as normal… hopefully this helps.
I bought it also for my wedding. It worked fine when I tested it at home a few days before the wedding. I came to the wedding, and it did not work. I connected it all up as before, so no issue there. I switched everything on; the remote and the transmitter were communicating. And then the only thing that happened when I pressed the button on the remote was that the camera focussed. When I depressed the button fully, I could see the red light flashing up as it should, but no photo was being taken. There is nothing on the camera I imagine that could cause this, so I am a bit lost at this point. When it was working before it was flawless, I already imagined using it for delay and bulb photography of the night sky, etc.
@@nikcrosina Hi, I’m so sorry you have had an issue with this remote control… A flashing red light I thought means lack of connection or battery?… The other issue is that your camera might be struggling to focus.. Maybe pre focus and switch auto focus off (i did that) then it should work perfectly…. I personally think it’s a focus issue.
@@johnlavin-ford8372 ill give that a try
Excellent analysis, great work .... and congratulations!
hi and thank you for the kind comment…. It was a lovely day, one to remember…😊
thanks to you if found where i can plug it in my Nikon D810
Hi.. I am so pleased I could be of some small help to you… Thank you for the comment_
helpful ty.
I have the similar 18-35 D only version ( non G ) made in Japan and roughly similar in size. I have always fought shy of going below 28 mm but this lens has opened up a greater field of possibility on my D800 which I wish I had done earlier.
Hi and thanks for the comment… going below 28mm is actually a new beginning of visual possibilities and emotional take in certain scenarios. .. I love the D lenses as the housings (to my mind, for what it’s worth) feel better made.
Great and complete video. Does anyone knows how it stands against the hori zone redback ?
I personally have no idea… hopefully someone in here will educate us all… I must get these other crossbow videos uploaded…
My cocking device snapped when i tried to string it.
That’s unlucky buddy… i would suggest take it back…. That does not sound right
Hey buddy what stringer did you buy instead as im having the same trouble cocking it to put the actual bow string on
Hi and thanks for the comment… Yes the stringer is a real pain… I actually rested the cocking handle on my stomach then used both hands to slowly bend the limb back whilst my wife placed the stringer in position… (bit sketchy) but worked surprisingly well….
You have to shorten the stringer. It will work as long as it is short enough to pull back the limbs enough to put on the actual string.
Thank you so much for the advice… thankfully I have learnt a great deal since this video lol… very kind mate ty … will sub and support your channel.
I got mine today, and I love it! It is so fun! I did buy a new, good, red dot sight, and dialed it in. Still fairly accurate at 20 yards, but around 15 yards I would say is the maximum distance for good accuracy. I replaced the factory red dot, with a Crossfire red dot from Vortex.
So pleased you like it for what it is… I totally agree with you, it’s fun. Also equally pleased you popped on a decent sight… I really must get my act together as I have the XL variant of this bow to edit and also a 450 rated Bear crossbow..
@johnlavin-ford8372 wonderful! I would love to see more of your videos in the future! And it is a standard sight rail, so any normal sight can go on it.
I have a question I have on my computer Kindle Voice ebooks can you record it ebooks with this device?
What else can you tell me about the company
I would’ve really liked to find out how to increase the volume on this device!!!
Good point my friend…. The actual device volume is adjusted by using the plus and minus buttons on the front.
I take a max reading and then a min reading. Settle for the middle number.
I agree… it’s the best way.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Wait so this crossbow is not meant for hunting?? In the description it literally says go hunting with this crossbow pistol I'm confused 🤔
This is most certainly not good enough for accurate hunting buddy… unless you can be lucky enough to get something small enough at 10-25 feet… I have read and re read the part where I mention it being used for hunting … I can’t see it mate… I would definitely accept the critique if o could see it … thanks for the comment …😊
Does it have a backlight? If so, how to turn on?
Thanks for the question… Sadly no back light.. (that would be perfect)…

Hi, I have tried googling what you are typing but sadly it makes no sense… If you can re write i would be grateful 😀
Lol….😅 yes our tastes are the same 👍
😂😂😂 That was painful to watch stringing the Crossbow but I will Not Judge,,Canadian version has an actual stock brace otherwise it’s illegal. I absolutely love ❤️ it,the accuracy is hit or miss l didn’t install red dot 🔴 it looks cheap, bought some extra bolts from Amazon, but they fly everywhere.Ohhh another thing, the latch broke,it still works but brace doesn’t lock 🔒 anymore,, and Yes,you can definitely hunt small game with it,just use proper bolts with broad heads.Put some wax on string and rail…
Ty for the comment… Stringing was a nightmare tbh… I have several other crossbows to video… this one is the cheapest and worst made.
@@johnlavin-ford8372 Ohhh c’mon man it’s not that bad,it’s scary at first but after watching couple videos and reading instructions you pick up your balls and Just DO IT…Now I don’t care that latch is broken 😡 but I am not going to the store to replace it, I spent Hours tuning that Shyt and I am not giving it back and start All Over again..Sorry to give you Shyt struggling with stringing the bow,but it’s a learning process…

Hi … Sadly not… it would be perfect addition.
Will never understand why people play music when doing informational video.
Me neither…. Hence I don’t do it anymore… lol
Greetings Sir. I've recently acquired this product. I'm interested in knowing what is the best setting for noise cancellation and high level voice recording from a distance. I'd like to record my neighbor speaking in his yard, from my yard. The total distance is about 4-5 meters. (No intention of spying whatsoever, but at certain times he's inebriated and threatens my well being verbally). Hope I hear from you. Best regards.
Hi, let me try and help here… first ‘best option’ is to get a small microphone like the rode mic I have in this video or similar. This will block unwanted wind noise and point the mic towards the neighbour. Put the setting on large conference room or hall. .. If no mic use same settings and hold top of device at arms length pointed at neighbour. Ideal situation is to rest it nearby neighbour without u holding it….
@@johnlavin-ford8372 Thank you for answering Sir. Apparently when I first powered up the device it was defaultly set to conference mode, however upon switching from simple, to normal mode I manually increased the record volume to highest. Apparently the voice from the neighbor is louder this way. I will test with different settings and see. I might consider buying a microphone attachment myself. Overall the device is much better than the previous one I had. Less background/wind noise. It's a good buy. Cheers and all my best!

@@johnlavin-ford8372 you’re welcome. I’ve been eyeballing this crossbow pistol and your review convinced me to pull the trigger (see what I did there) and order it yesterday.
Hi again, I also have the XL version of this crossbow which in my opinion feels like an AR15 lol… its only £25 more… I promise i will put a video up with that one too.
I am wondering if this has the ability to rewind whilst recording to overwrite something you've already said. Can't seem to find anywhere if it can or not.
When I get back home I’ll have a go to see if I can do that… will be in 3 days time before I can give you an answer.
For real. If you can’t inbox it and put the batteries in without a tutorial, you shouldn’t be handling electronics.

Hi, that’s really cool to hear…. Do you use any other camera system?
@@johnlavin-ford8372 Not anymore, In the Film Days I was a Minolta shooter, But I worked for Nikon in New York so I switched to Nikons back when I could get a nice Nikon F for a good price. As digital came about I used or owned many of their digital bodies. I now use a D3s, D300s, D700 and a D850 mostly. I've always got great shots with anything I used
My mother in-law used Minolta when they brought out AF… gosh how things have changed.. The D3s is awesome, but the 850 is almost a perfect DSLR… I would love one but to be quite honest my D3 is still earning me money and memories. I get very attached to my cameras regardless if they are just tools or not. Presently I have a F100 F5 D2h D5100 D3, Panasonic GH4 G5 (used for video), 2x Olympus E-1s mint e520 35mm trip and an OM1,… love them all…… I would love to hear your thoughts on the D3s vs D850..
@@johnlavin-ford8372 Well I really like the D3s image Quality, I found The D85o a little of a chore to get a shot with perfect exposure, Mine tends to blow out the highlights sometimes especially with my older lenses. Otherwise it's a great camera.
Your intro is amazing! How do you make it?
Hi and thank you for the kind comment… I have since progressed making more in-depth videos (see crossbow)… I use Final Cut Pro X “FCP” where it can allow you to make very quick and easy intros with almost unlimited combinations for anything you wish to do… Many people use this for making NEtflix documentaries and or also use Adobe Premiere and Davinci Resolve….
