Are You A Gamer Or A Collector? A Video Response To Retro Reminiscence
Would you do a unboxing video of royal rumble ?
Sorry, but I actually don't own that one. However, if I did, I'd be more than happy to do an unboxing for you.
Ok, you got your wish, here's my current game room, granted it's still in the making so it's still a pipe dream at this point; ruclips.net/video/TakXJY9yCxQ/видео.htmlsi=WbHyE2I6RVa7B83P
Dude, incredible looking game room simple yet so satisfying. I could definitely vibe out in there while playing some Super Nintendo! It’s only missing one thing…. My invitation! 😂
Bro! You're always welcome! Just give me a heads up so that I can stock up on pizza rolls and Ecto Cooler!😂
I agree with you. The 90's was the best decade.
I loved this video so much
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm coming over!
@RonManGaming Awesome! I'll get the pizza rolls ready! You down for a beer as well?🤣
@@backintheday3097 heck yeah, dude!
Very nice, I've been meaning to eventually have a game room of my own, but that isn't the top priority I have as of now so it's a pipe dream at this point, the likelihood is my basement would be the prime area I'd designate as the game room, it's already got my game collection organized and on display, it's just a matter of saving for furniture and electronics when I don't have higher concerns and actually have a steady source of income. I might do a game room tour myself when I eventually accomplish this goal, but until then I'll have to settle with the living room as my game room.
@@TostetoLightsky I'd be down with seeing what your setup looks like as it is now.
@@backintheday3097 I could potentially just do a short recording of what I have, give some commentary on what my plans are and show what is currently down there, then maybe post an update later when I've actually made progress towards my goal of a game room.
You truly have the most pristine games I have ever seen. Love the game room! It's my dream to be able to decorate my own game room one day!
@TheLegendOfRetro Thanks Tom! I really appreciate that! I have no doubt that you'll have your own game room! Perhaps when you finally make the move to the States for good! How's that coming anyway?
Simple yet clean. I'd be paranoid about sunlight hitting the games though LOL.
@@GoodVibeCollecting Haha! That's why I put the cabinet where it is. No direct sunlight!🤣😂
Nice game room
@@Volition_To_The_Max Thanks!
Let's gooooo!
Love the channel man! I'm a child of the 90's and love nostalgia. I was always a Nintendo and Sega kid but 5 years ago I bought a SNES and beat Super Mario World and Turtles in Time. Cheers!
i love mega man
Great pick ups bro! I love all the walking dead games. You are spot on with the “choose your own adventure books” reference. Such cool games to play. So many morale choices that must be made. I’m glad you enjoyed the MM2, and I hope we can meet up again and hang out again soon. That cleaning kit is the first gen one which is really cool. Thanks for all the love and kind comments about me bro. I feel the same about you
I remember playing RE Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii, it was a fun little spin on RE 0, 1, and 3 that was in short segments that retold the stories of each game and actually had a new story on Umbrella’s downfall. RE7 I feel definitely increased the difficulty a bit past normal RE games, but I guarantee that going through the whole game is worth it, it’s what brought the franchise back to its roots, and has an ending I didn’t see coming. I have roughly half of the 285 issues of Nintendo Power, I eventually managed to obtain every issue digitally and figured I’m happy with what I have with the physical books, and that I’d rather not spend any more on already expensive magazines that have only gotten more pricey. All in all it’s a very nice haul you showed, I definitely am looking forward to what you might unbox next. Like you said CIB games are becoming more hard to find and at a decent price, sometimes you have to take what’s available because you never know if there will be more opportunities to find another.
I see more future unboxings. One of these days I'll make it out to a convention and see you.
@GoodVibeCollecting I hope so! Your videos are so calm and chill, and I imagine that's how you are in person.
If you haven't tried it yet, you should play The Wolf Among Us, it's also from Telltale who did those Walking Dead games, it's by far their best game, the story revolves around a detective in a murder mystery, but every character is based around a fairy tale character, but it's a really grim noir setting. Last May I met some friends from online, one of them for the first time, always love meeting online friends. Definitely hope to meet you as well still one day!
@TheLegendOfRetro I have heard of Wolf Among Us and had heard that it was really good. I also believe that there's a Batman game as well. I know I'll definitely have to try The Wolf Among Us. I always seem to forget about it whenever I'm looking for different games to buy. Perhaps that one will be my next purchase 🤔. I saw that you and Robert and Clocked It were finally able to meet up and do that really kick ass Zelda video! If you ever find yourself in Pennsylvania, let me know. We'll definitely try and find a way to meet up!
Thar was back when games were cheap
I’m glad you appreciated the gesture my friend. I wanted your first convention experience to be memorable. Super sick that it came with the sticker also. It was cool meeting up and just talking video games! Can’t wait to do it again bro.
Honestly bro, that whole day and experience was so cool! Being able to meet up and hang out was definitely a major highlight for this year so far. Can't wait to do it again next year!
Glad you did an unboxing video of Mega Man 2 Joel, it's definitely one of my first Mega Man games I've played along with the first Mega Man and I became a fan of the series, but it's a shame you're not a fan of the series though and that's fine
Thanks my friend! It's not that I'm not a fan of the series, it's just that after Mega Man 3 I kinda lost interest. That might be in part because 3 was the last Mega Man game I had played on the NES before I got rid of it and moved on to the SNES.
@@backintheday3097 Make sense, because Mega Man 3 did came out in 1990 and the Super Nes came out in 1991 so I figured you was around that time when it happened which was pretty cool
I also supposedly own a CIB copy of Megaman 2, and also Megaman 3 CIB. I've collected a lot of Megaman merch throughout the years but I've toned down the collecting ever since I moved out, it's something that I cannot afford to spend on, plus I've reached a point where it feels like I've collected enough of it and don't really need any more other than the video games. I've always been told that I'd collect only so much before the meaning gets lost and sure enough it did, but it doesn't mean that I won't buy something related to Megaman once in a blue moon.
I remember you telling me that you collected a lot of Mega Man merchandise. The only thing I can remember collecting a lot of merchandise for was the 1994 movie The Crow. I was 16 back in 1994 when it came out, and it quickly became one of my favorite movies. Like to the point where I wanted to get as much Crow merchandise as possible and even went as far as to get a really shitty tattoo of a crow on a tombstone on my arm! 😂 Thankfully that's long since been covered up! But I understand where you're coming from. I got to a point with it when I just looked at all of it and realized it was just way too much!
Such an incredible franchise with an even more incredible soundtrack! Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 2 were my childhood, but Mega Man 4 is by far my personal favorite. Definitely an incredibly generous gift!
Thanks Tom! Don't get me wrong, I do like Mega Man, but typically after 3, I tend to lose interest. Perhaps one of these days I'll give 4,5, and 6 a try. Hopefully sometime in the future, you and I will get the opportunity to meet up as well!
That Mega Man sticker is original. Some Capcom games came with them and some didn't. I've seen that sticker sell for $50 and even as high as $100 so be sure to protect it.
I've seen the sticker before on ebay with other copies of various Mega Man games, I just wasn't aware of which Mega Man or Capcom games it came with. So from what you're telling me, Shawn got one heck of a good deal on this since it's in really good condition and it's got all the inserts.
@@backintheday3097 For sure. It was kind of random which games had them and it was only for a short period. You don't see them everyday.

So looking from a "case" of these. How would you know if its first or later print??
One of the biggest indicators is the rating label in the lower left corner. Those didn't show up on games until the mid-late 90's. The other is the paper tray that the game itself is stored in. That style of tray didn't show up until around 1996 or 1997.
What cheat codes did you use ?
As far as I know, there aren't any cheat codes for the original version of this. I was able to use cheats with my NES Classic because of a cheat mod I was able to install.
My cousins got their game boys a year after I got mine.
A b solutely amazing that Switch has surpassed the Game Boy line in sales.
Before the Nintendo DS, and Nintendo switch, there was Game Boy. ❤😊
Game boy = amazing system.
I got my game boy on Christnasthe year it was released. Got super mario land, baseball, tennis and of course Trletris with it.
I have a zelda link to the past t shirt my wife gave me for my birthday this year. Wear it a ton. Had the Link with the master sword and hylian shield stance
Nice! The only Zelda shirt I have just has the screen logo from the original Zelda.
A perfect gem of a game. There is nothing wrong with it. A perfect game!!!
Even though it's not my favorite in the Zelda franchise, I definitely agree with you that it's a perfect game!
Greatest zelda game ever!! Got this for my 16th Birthday along with the player's guide through Nintendo power. ❤❤😊
That's awesome!
You use the Game genie cheats ?
Don't be hating on Batman returns Is a classic.
Can you do a unboxing video of super c ?
On NSO, now!
I played this game on Nintendo Switch Online and this gameplay experience is fun
I've never played Contra on the NES, I was never good with games that require you to not get hit, although the Konami Code somewhat remedies the issue for those whom can actually get far into the game. You don't see things similar to the Konami Code like secret references, to signature jingles hidden in games these days, they are far and few and rarely become a traditional Easter egg.
I don't recall ever playing this without using the Konami code. The first few levels of the game are doable without it, but once you hit the snow base, it's game over!
Your mom swiping your friend's case for her jewelry is the most gamer mom thing ever! X'D
Can't say for sure if she "swiped" it! But one way or another, it wound up in her possession! Haha!
I never liked Dr. X Mario (XD) and still don't. Then again I think Tetris is overrated too, haha! What Gameboy games are you still looking for?
Puzzle games are fun for about 5 minutes, and then you realize playing something else would definitely make better use of your time! Haha! I'm still looking for Castlevania Adventure, all the Final Fantasy games, and Operation Contra.
"Loosely based" is generous, haha! I still feel it's straight up Alien, Arnie and Rambo on that US cover! I'm obviously biased but Probotector is by far the better title and cooler looking box! Too many games had those standard soldiers on the NES so for once thanks to Germany's meddling with their censorship we got blessed in Europe!
I did download the ROM for Probotector and found it to be a really cool alternative to the Contra that we got here in the US. The cool thing about Operation Galuga is that there's an arcade mode that allows you to pick either the red or blue Probotector characters.
I was never that big into puzzle games like Dr. Mario, I recall renting Dr. Mario 64 and absolutely hating it to the point that I returned it early. It reminds me of the gamble that you had to take when buying games, back then you had nothing but magazines and word of mouth on which games were worth buying, and if you bought a game that wasn’t great you had to take that loss. Nowadays with internet it’s so easy to find out on how each game fairs in reviews that it can determine whether to buy it or not, saving you some possible losses. Kids these days don’t know the pain of buying a game with your own money and taking the chance on the boxes presentation of what the game is about only to be disappointed later.
I honestly miss the "Russian Roulette" style of game purchases. Thankfully, 98% of the games I got as a kid were good. The other 2% were the ones you knew were bad, but tried to convince yourself otherwise! You're definitely right. Today's kids can't understand what we went through buying a game based on cover art and a vague description of the game on the back of the box!
That looks complete to me. It's normal for the trays to have a yellowish hue to them. It's not from smoking but rather it's from the plastic aging. I guess the game case is a good way to keep jewelry in.
I figured it had more to do with aging and less to do with smoking. But whenever I see that dingy yellow color, all I can think of is nicotine stains. I'm glad that mom found it and used it as a jewelry case. Who would have thought I'd need it all those years later to put a game in!
Wow, $100 was pretty high for a complete version of the game in 2014. Especially when it's missing all of the inserts and has some flaws. What were you thinking? LOL.
I wasn't! That was the problem!🤣
But now I don’t scary.
When I was a kid, I was very scared of the intro music of this game.🥲
Hit me up next time you get rid of Retro stuff! I got a few retro pick ups from my recent trip, they'll be in my next video! I completely agree about digital games, bro, you got COLLECTOR'S Edition these days that literally say: Game not included. It's madness!
Haha! Sorry brother! I didn't think you'd be interested in my GameCube games. I still have 3 of them, but they're titles you already have. Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and The Legend of Zelda Collectors Edition. Definitely looking forward to seeing your next pickups video! I left a comment on the video you did at that Barcade. Not sure if you got the notification though. 🤔
