Nice, I just pulled the trigger on the version without the print for 70€. My RTL box is still unopened ;-) Too bad they didn't number the print! Would have been nice to have a write-up on the recording of the album in the book too... Guess I'll print the articles from Uncut and MOJO and put them in the box...

I was lucky that Goodbye Jumbo was my introduction to World Party. I’m a multi-instrumentalist/composer so I really loved the vibe. ‘Put The Message In The Box’ was a defining song for me.

So glad I stumbled across this video. I've no idea why but World Party past me by until pretty recently. I remember the weekend before the Covid lockdowns started in March 2020 hearing Is it Like Today on the radio in the car. I'd obviously heard it before but never realised just how great a track it was until that car journey for some reason. After that I did a deep dive into their music and throughout lockdown listened to pretty much nothing else; I can't believe it took me so long to get into them. I love Is it Like Today but other notable favourites are Give it all Away, Way Down Now, Ship of Fools, All Come True...I could go on all night. Such a great band and a terrible loss.

How this guy is surprised by two drummers with Adam Ant is ridiculous, Adam and the Ants have always had two drummers it’s their thing, The Glitter band had them also, my older sister dated Pete Phibbs from the Glitter band back in the 70’s he was one of the drummers.

Nice to see this tribute Barry. I am a huge WP fan too, saw WP about 5 times and meet Karl 1:1 several times. Such a lovely man, such a musical genius. I hope the family consider releasing some material posthumously, as Dhani did with George Harrison's Brainwashed. I'm sure Karl was beavering away over the last 10 years and there are many pearls to hear, that will continue his incredible legacy. I love all his songs, but Higher Love, No More Crying and Lost in Infinity are some current favourites!

Barry, I love, love, love your adoration for KW! I first heard Ship of Fools on Radio 1 when I was 17, I'm now 54! I was blown away! I got tickets to see World Party at the Astoria in London and took my best mate Jen along with me. We were crazy dudes and jumped into the orchestra pit at the Astoria! Karl loved our brazen show of love and acknowledged it! What a man! We love KW! xx

Friend or Foe made it big in the US over here in Europe it was Goody Two Shoes and nothing else..In Europe Kings album was massive..with two drummers of course😅

Thank you for sharing this. First heard about World Party through an interview with Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran who mentioned Karl’s group as new music he was listening to. Unfortunately, became immersed too little, too late. Criminally underrated in the music business.

LR fan who drove up for Monday’s show! (Also reluctantly featured on the kiss cam thanks to my husband) 😅 I can relate to feeling a bit behind - my husband listened to her more than I did until our first time seeing her live last spring and after that she’s been my absolute favorite music artist. As far as listening order, I’d recommend first, second, and then third album. In the video of her playing “Alaska” for Pharrell for her class at NYU, she describes her history of growing up playing banjo and folk music and wanting to marry that with club music she experienced while studying abroad in France. That album really has a lot of those influences and reflects her time of being in school for music production and being more experimental. Second is more alt rock, and the most recent has more singer/songwriter folk vibes imo that goes more back to her roots. If you want a really deep cut, there’s Notes from the Archive which is all the recordings from 2011-2016 prior to be signed.

Saw the show in Milwaukee & Loved both. English Beat Merch was all cash, Adam was cash or credit. Huge Adam Ant fan since I was 9 years old back in 1980;)

I’m very envious that you got to chat with Karl, but also glad that you shared the experience with us. I count myself very lucky to have seen World Party twice in the 90s, and they’re still some of the best shows I’ve seen.

My oler sister introduced me to World Party. I fell in love with it immediately! I've listened to every song he ever did, and never heard one i haven't loved!! He will be missed ❤❤ my personal favorite is When the rainbow comes. Whenever im feeling down, or a bit melancholy, i put it on and it always puts me in a happy and optimistic mood. 😊

Hello there! as fan of Adam's for 40 years,I really appreciate your review! I seen him five times strip tour in 83 being my first concert, then vive le rock, persuasion tour (when I first met him and kissed his mouth!, then wonderful, where I met him (and Marco) again! Last show I saw was Kings. Before the internet I was basically alone in my adam ant world I had no one to sing the songs with and I had no one who even knew the songs anyway! He is so much more than goody two shoes and stand and deliver which are basically the two songs that anybody would know about. Being a room with so many people that know all the songs like I do is the best feeling I started crying immediately upon walking into the last show. The energy was just awesome! Outside of him being my first crush, his cleverness and intelligence drew me in closer! Being 12 he really opened my eyes to so many things, words , sayings ( I didn't know what risque or innuendo meant or digress, beg to differ) He has amazing production skills,his placement of sounds ,drums,chants and subtle nuances (think Picasso visita or juanito the bandito)are so perfect.i love his singing and speaking voice. Not to mention there are soooooo many good songs that nobody even knows about! it's just mind-blowing ! I also recommend if you haven't read his memoir stand and deliver you absolutely should listen to it ashe reads it on audio as well. I don't know why I posted all of that anybody who's here is probably a fan anyways and has their own awesome adam ant stories of what he means to them. I just know that it was amazing to tell him in person that he changed my life and that I don't remember much about my life and who I was before him. I said to him "Adam, if ever you feel down about things in your life , and maybe you don't know how to feel about your life and your place in it, just remember that so many people love and admire you and that you changed so many people's lives with your one life. I'm so glad for that" I feel so lucky that he's in my life forever.❤

Yes! I’m a huge fan! Way down now played on our rotation when I worked at Banana Republic , loved the song and found out who the band was…. Been a fan ever since!
