Fun fact: most of the cast of tbe animated series recorded their lines sitting down. But Mark had to stand and completely *embody* The Joker when he read those words. It was a complete transformation. And for almost 30 years, you'd rarely see him perform as The Joker without standing up, essentially *becoming* the Clown Prince himself. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy defined their respective characters to a level I dont think we'll see again for a long time. Legends in every sense of the word x
Quick fun fact: the actor he replaced was Tim Curry 😊
None better!🪕🪕🪕
Oof … I got goosebumps once Mark started his Joker monologue. Simply the best!
"And now that idea is you" says it all...
He almost voiced Invader Zim.
I love the guy, I love his "killer" role, and I also love the person. He's just so great
I will forever love Mark Hamill.
Btw the actor mark replaced was Tim Curry, who had an amazing yet terrifying voice for The Joker
The joker comes in at 5:11
Great
Mark and Kevin will always be Batman and Joker period. Cant be done better.
His Joker is perfect because it's always like Joker is just having a blast just talking. Just hearing himself talk.
4:00 Facts! There is no better joker than him
Will never tire of watching this performance. What an artist ❤
Hits harder after Kevin Conroy’s passing. Rip to a legend as well.
When I say this man is an entertainment legend it’s an understatement.
Luke Skywalker was my ~awakening~ and this man has just kept it going my entire life. 😅
Now I want to hear Hamill's idea of Mr. Freeze's voice.
Imagine joker having a purple lightsaber
m"ARKHAM"ill he is born for Joker.
I love that voice! He was an old Sith ghost in one of the Star Wars animated series, he basically made Super Robot Monkey Team and I'm sure he's done the voice in other shows too 😆
Rest in peace Kevin Conroy
update this has now become mark as joker's way of saying THANK YOU to kevin conroy HIS AND MY GENERATIONS BATMAN. the baby boomers got caeser romao and adam west. WE got conroy and mark. HMM which generation got the better versions :D yes i went there
"But now that idea is you." True. Anytime I read the Joker's lines they sound like Mark Hamill's Joker in my mind.
what a FN PERFORMER. Truly the goat
This performance got him a cease and desist letter from WB reminding him he no longer played the character?! I wonder what disgusting mound of hyena filth would do that to a man from whom they aren't fit to lick the dirt from his spats?!!!....but I digress
What a wonderful celebration of what it is to be human. Great musicianship. cheers from cool Vienna, Scott
This just hits so hard now that Kevin has passed on........
Chills! Literal chills!
Lord help us if this great man passes away We already lost two childhood greats in Kevin Conroy and Jason David Frank…..
"without batman (Kevin Conroy) there's no punchline"
6:29😂
It's amazing that he looked at the script once and continue to go on. He remembers everything
“Everybody has an idea of how the Joker should sound…” Yeah, duhhh. I’m hearing it now.
Mark Hamill is the best actor but I know someone who can take Kevin Conroy place and help Mark Hamill Michael Keaton can
... no
I love how Mark Hamill describes Tim Curry as “another actor, a GREAT actor” when he isn’t the OTHER most recognizable voice of the 90s alongside Hamill hahaha
I'm still very surprised he hasn't got a role to being a live action joker I mean his literally an actor and a VA what more do you want to be qualified?
it's strange, even before seeing the animated series and when i was only allowed comics (our tv didn't get any cartoon channels when i was a kid) my thoughts for jokers voice always felt higher pitch and slightly comical, mark is the perfect joker voice and while i can do that voice too it's the voice ive based all my different joker voices around (from normal to old man to sane joker) he and kevin were amazing and inspirational, and as much as i wish i could do something to commemorate kevin now this here, this monologue is the only thing i can think of. i don't cry alot but when i heard of kevin conroys passing the tears had trouble stopping, it truly was the day the clown cried
The man who killed batman is my fav episode ever. 💪
He is the definitive Joker. Yes, I know Nicholson yes, I know Ledger. I know, I know. But for me I forever mourn the fact that the Dark Night cast Ledger instead of Mark Hamill. It was a mistake.
RIP Kevin Conroy.
The fact that stuns me is that Tim Curry originally auditioned for Joker...
Rest in peace Kevin Conroy 😭💔
Tim Curry
i believe he truly enjoys being the joker and known for that by the fans then luke now. which is cool for me.
She is the most awesome woman I have ever seen
She is so talented it's almost otherworldly
I love blue grass! My dad,Dalton Ian Brennan MacDonald(RIP💖) and I, would listen to some gd blue grass together and Dad would bust out the spoons and his harmonica. Dad went to college in Virginia or Kentucky🤔..can't remember which, maybe that's were he picked up the love for this great type of music💞💯 I'm glad he did bc he introduced it to me and I've loved it in my lifetime as well! Love this song and this singer is great! And she can play! Whoo!🎶🌟
When they were going to do Batman: The Movie, and I heard they were going to do the Joker, I said to my friends that there is currently only one actor who could pull it off. He had the right build, and he was very talented, and he was Mark Hamil. As it turns out they went with an old fat man in the role (Jack Nicholson), who while sounding a bit menacing, was none the less wrong for the role. Then a few years later they did the Animated Series, and Paul Dini and co nailed what Batman should be, and hired Mark Hamil as the Joker. Vindication! Biggest regret is that while he was still young enough to pull off a live action version of the Joker, they did not use him in that role. We of course got Heath Ledger, who was also on another level in the role (his version just cannot be equaled), and aside from the slim chance of a Deepfake SFX version of Mark as the joker, the animated version is all we will ever have of this fantastic very underrated actor.
