    That is an interesting premise, AI writing an AI run amuck story. It would be interesting doing a head to head, human vs AI on the same story. Is it within the capability of current AI to create a screenplay based on a classic novel or short story?

    • @AScreenwritersJourney
      @AScreenwritersJourney 3 дня назад

      I don't want to speak for A.I., but I would hazard to guess it could create a screenplay based on a classic novel/short story. (Without the heart and soul, of course.)

      @@AScreenwritersJourney The concern is business executives can choose AI over a writer, saves time and money. The old joke about IBM was it stood for Inferior But Marketable. I could see the possibility of giving a director an AI script expecting the director to put the heart and soul into it.

    Nice! Thank you for this update. The trees were lovely and the mist was so atmospheric. I also like how you were able to breakdown your thoughts on NaNo and how much it means to you. NaNo is how we first connected. When it comes to my thoughts about generative ai, I can only speak for myself: Because I have multiple sclerosis and because it is degenerative, I want to use my brain for as long as I can, and generative ai doesn't help me in that endeavor. As I said, I can only speak for myself. Thank you for this video. :)

    I'm on a steep learning curve with all of these tools! I like how you put it though ... it has no heart no soul ... so I will remain old-fashioned in my creative ways.😊 Not doing NaNo this year but my greatest takeaway was the motivation to write daily for at least one month in the year, so I miss that aspect. All the best with your revision project update.

    Thank you for this video. And thank you for not giving spoilers--RUclips and the internet in general is a minefield when I'm trying NOT to be spoiled. I once had a TV show ruined because someone put the character's death in the title of their RUclips video. UGH! Also, The Paul Robeson House is here in West Philadelphia, 5 minutes from where I live and they give tours. As for the movies I have seen, The Barefoot Contessa is very Hollywood and only qualifies because Eva Gardner's character is from Spain, but it is still a good watch. This movie is not on the list, but I once saw Like Water For Chocolate and it was rich in magical realism and takes in 1900s Mexico. Thanks again. :)

    Thanks for the update. Sorry your videos aren't getting the number of hits they deserve. They have good information. Many people are mission out. The WWI aviation movies in the "Wings" era seemed to have it all, action, drama, romance, and airplanes. They were better box office draws than other WWI movies of the time that usually flopped at the box office. The 1933 version of "The White Sister" had the male lead flying in WWI rather than fighting in pre-WWI North Africa.

    Seems interesting. I believe there was an incident like "The Tunnel" in Japan. It ended tragically. The Stallone movie, "Daylight" (1996) had a trapped in tunnel premise. With "The Wave" I wonder how much science went into it? I remember watching a documentary that mentioned where some large pieces of mountain can one day fall into the sea, with disastrous consequences.

    I've been looking forward to this one and it was worth the wait. Is the "NYC" in the logline important? Are there rules for when a geographic name should be used? I read a list of loglines from famous movies. I was a surprised when the on for "The Producers" had the main character's name. Were rules different 50+ years ago, or was it the comedic value of the characters name, "Max Bialystock"?

    • @AScreenwritersJourney
      @AScreenwritersJourney 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the questions! NYC is important because that's where the modeling & advertising industries are based. It's also where the Freegan movement started. NYC is an important "character" in my story. If you're writing something that could easily take place in any city, then I'd say you don't have to specify it. As for Max Bialystock, if you asked the random person on the street who that was, I don't think they'd know. It's a funny name, but I don't think it's necessary to put in the logline. Yes, rules are constantly changing. A decade from now loglines might be completely different. (Once the AI overlords start writing them.)

      Parable of the Sower was written in 1993, 31 years ago, and takes place in 2024. It's almost as if Octavia Butler saw the future! Although her version of 2024 is slightly worse than things are today, just give America another decade or so on the same track it's been going, and it will be the same. Scary!

    Good luck with that Harvard list. I'm really interested in the loglines. In the early days it shocked people that electricity could be lethal. Pun intended. This helped the gas company since gas is so much safer. Sarcasm. The elephant, Topsy, was executed for killing a man. It was a public execution at Coney Island. The film probably made the list to show cruelty to animals in the turn of the century era.

    It's good to feel wary about paying to apply for a grant. I hope it's not a scam. When it comes to Octavia Butler, Parable of the Sower is prescient and scary how easily it could happen; there is also a sequel called Parable of the Talents. Dawn is the first of four books of the Xenogenesis Series. Fledgling is about a child who is a vampire, but you have to be in the right headspace to read that one. I haven't read the Patternist Series yet. If you're looking for an adaptation and/or to compare what's different between the book and the show, Kindred was made into a series. This video was wonderfully eclectic. Thank you. :)
