Thank the suits and lawyers to ruin rock n roll
My favorite!
That TOOOOOOONNNNEEEEE
Groove
Wouldn’t have sold anything without DLR voice
Immediate subscribe
Sounds like a demo
too bad VH didn't have vids of the 80-83 tours to sell
Killer drumming!!!
Wow!!!! I played home Sweet home the guitar solo , and uploaded it on YT it got taken down wtf !?
Probably the best rock tone I've ever heard. Even better than other Van Halen songs.
So tight..
Pasadena in 1975-76 ❤
Ridiculous!
This song has been one of my favorites by Van Halen since I first heard it. And this version is the cherry on the cake! Thanks for everything Eddie, Alex, Michael and David.
At 1:20 im thinking " is that the way it was ALWAYS?"
Wow, now that is a groove
Without Eddie, Michael and Alex would have had the same chances of making it as any other shlubs. Roth, as nuts as he is, had a lot to offer any band that needed a front man.
such a unique song. VH opened with this song when backing Sabbath in 1978 Detroit. I remember thinking, " what a strange opening song " So lucky to have been there
A click track!
And DLR fulfilled it
Recording date? Most pros at least give that information.
By listening to the song with everything (guitar, bass drums, vocals), you can kind of get a feel for the complexity of Eddie's playing. When it's isolated like this, you REALLY get the feel for how complex it is! A Master Class right here!
Sounds - and, judging by the headstock in the photo, looks - like the Destroyer.
Sounds great but is this really VH or a talented cover???
Oh, so good! 😊 Such good sound quality and tone. And the groove is like a mile wide. And it’s got swing!
A couple things stick out, how so gdamn clean and concise Ed's playing is and when he ventures off and plays little fills he's always right back in the pocket and in freaking time. And most importantly what great musicians all three guys are/were, simply stellar.
Wow, these recordings are just gold. While not a fan of Roth the person, I'm finding it tough to sing along to this song I've heard 1,000 times. Same is true for the instrumental version of Little Dreamer that's on RUclips. Perhaps I need to man up and give Dave a little credit for his accomplishments as a vocalist. Wow, that was hard to admit!
Wow,and no vocals 😂
My favorite song to skateboard with back in 78. 😎
These guys sound like they need a bit more practice.
I always wonder if they had any idea what was about to happen with their lives after this...
That's how they recorded it, live in a room. Take any VH song back then and pan the speakers from left to right. You will hear Eddie on one side, Michael on the other.
tight
Sofa King good
what modulation effect was eddie using? is it a slow flanger or slow phaser? ty!
I AM THANKFUL TO LIVE IN A TIME TO EXPERIENCE GREATNESS!!!!!!!!! GALACTIC HISTORY
Love how he just rolls off the volume before the build to get a cleaner sound, no channel switching or any of that sort of nonsense I struggled with for ages. Simple is best!
Those room mics sound awesome!
The solo, unbelievable
This track shows how Alex is swinging the beat...
Please please please find and release more room mics for Van Halen…..so sick to hear them for literally for real as if we are jamming with them, perfect
Must buy an MXR Phase 90 immediately! So nice hearing that sound again. Classic!!
Ive always loved how the main riff in this song has that very distinct "Uh- OOooohhh" feeling in the bit after the repeated walkdown to E
3:49 too bad he failed to let the add 9 ring out. :(
The best with this is the outstandingly good guitar sound.
i gotta call BS, i grew up with VH, this is good, but don't pretend, you don't really understand do you?
I'm listening to this and I'm like "that ain't room mics - there's an overdubbed rhythm guitar". Then I listened a little closer and was like "yeah man - it's Eddie - that's all him live". Derp. Michael Anthony doesn't get a lot of credit for his playing but his note selection, albeit primitive, was perfectly placed in time. That ain't easy.
funky cold medina
I hear shades of funk in this song.
