Digging a French Drain With the GroundHog's Episode 2
Good idea. I think I’d like a little bit of float on the blade so it rides smoother on the ground with less bouncing.
Thanks! You'll have to run your float idea past Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA. Maybe they could help you out with that.
Love this attachment! My auger has a square 28mm shaft. Is yours the same? If so would you mind sharing the part number of your log cone? Many thanks in advance!
@@wootiidii Well I don't currently have that information but if you call Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA they can get you what you need. They usually keep these on stock.
I think this would be useful for the monster rounds that need noodling so they can be picked up and put on a splitter. This is just too slow to use if for any sort of volume splitting. But still something that would be very useful to avoid a hernia or broken back.
It has definitely saved my back as it would for anyone looking to make their lives easier. It definitely helps get work done when nothing would get done with a back injury.
Where did.tou get the rotating grapple?! Im looking for one for my visec 13
@@Drop_N_Chop_LLC Give Groundhog Equipment a call in Middleburg PA. They usually have these on stock.
All you need to run these machines is on idle. Your controls won't be jerky and you're not losing any power
Can that thing go on the quick attach?
No you will have to remove the quick attach to install this log grapple.
@ dam
These machines are a life saver if you own property I have a mms 1.5 ton and the possibilities are endless with the amount of work I can do
I agree they are definitely a back saver for me.
My question is how much does that machine weigh?
2100 pounds
I sure like that wagon we’re did you get that?
Hoover tractor in Mifflinburg PA.
Awesome on small rounds and logs but will it do large rounds 22" or larger and will it split a large log like a 24" × 12' ?
The only wood I've had issues with splitting is pine. Hard wood seems to split fine.
Super cool! I love it!!
@@YamahaC7SRG Thank You!
Here I thought you were going to load the trailer with the grapple
Video needs a close up of the connection.
@@johnr.johnston5808 The next video I plow snow with it I'll get you some close ups of the mounting brackets.
Thanks for the video. My tracked loader will be here in a couple of weeks and my plow off of my garden tractor will work quite well. Got ideas from you setup.
Well glad I could help and thanks for watching!
can you get heat and ac? definitely need heat for up north
I believe both heat and AC are available on this model.. Give Groundhog Equipment a call in Middleburg PA if you're interested. They can hook you up.
Can it do anything but turn
Ya it doesn't do to bad. You should check out Groundhog Equipment on RUclips. They have a full length video of it.
Best to keep that bucket for the snow and scrapping weeds
I agree it's definitely a bucket for loose material like saw dust, lime stone, sand, manure, and you get the point.
Hi friend, how much does that machine weigh?
Groundhog Equipment says 2100 lbs.
Have you tried it on a stump?
😊 Work good i'm impressed
Thanks
Do you sell the dump trailer?
@@JoelMahr The trailer was bought from Hoover tractor in Mifflinburg PA. Let them know you were watching my videos when you call. Thanks for watching
Where did you get the grapple
@@Smokengun2 Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA should be able to hook you up. Last time I was over they had these on stock. Hey if you call over let them know you were watching my videos. They help out my channel. Thanks in advance helps my channel. Thanks!
Was wondering about the bucket instead of the blade 18:01 have not seen a one before is it after market one??
Are you asking about the box blade I adapted to the push blade or the rake I have installed on the boom?
The rooster said tap tap tappa roooo
Hola Amigo , cuanta profundidad de excavacion tiene esa maquina ? y cual es su peso .
I believe the max reach on this model is 8'6" and it weighes 2100lb with rubber tracks and 2700lbs with steel track's. Groundhog Equipment also offers an internal and external counter weight kit for this model.. You'll have to call groundhog to get the max digging depth. I don't have those numbers currently.
Does it tear up the lawn when it turns?
@@solojimoutdoors If you skid steer hard it will definitely tear up grass but there are tricks to minimize this like making small turns. over distance to get where you going. There are other ways but only experienced operators should try these using the boom.
Thank you
I have to get one of those just for the big rounds so I can handle them to get them up on the spiller love a nice warm fire on a cold winter day
These will definitely save your back.
what model grapple is that?
It's the rotary log grapple available from Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA. I was just over a couple of weeks ago and I noticed they had these in stock.
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator great I’ll give them a shout! I’m not far from there we are a few minutes north of Scranton
@timberandtools Well if you don't mind let them know you were watching my channel. Thanks for watching!
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator will do
A DR Brush trimmer can get into those small and large areas of overgrowth and ferns so much quicker and easier and will do a great job after you remove the large trees and rotting stumps.
Nice build, well done
@@ifyoutip Thanks
Anyone else just thinking the whole pile may roll apart when he was grabbing that bottom one?
Those steel tracks? And if so you know where I could to buy them ?
Yes you can buy these Steel tracks from Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA. They normally keep these on stock and I noticed they had them just two weeks ago. You can reach them at 570-837-1003.
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator thank you man !

Nice to see our Creekbank Welding trailer make an appearance in the video!

love the dumper we put landscape fabric in then 4" of stone then pipe then cover pipe with stone fold over fabric cover with 6' of dirt the dumper works great with the mini excavator hope your channel takes off thank you for the videos
I'm glad to hear your enjoying your dumper. I'm hoping the channel takes off as well. Thanks for watching!

OUTSTANDING!!!! This is my next new project! DR Premier and Pro on sale now!!!! Thanks for the ideas and sharing! Keep up the great work! 1 comment though..... have you/would you consider using a braided aircraft cable of the appropriate diameter vs the trimmer line for longevity .... or do you think the head may not tolerate it and cause excessive wear to the trimmer head? Again, THANKS!!!!!
@@cobey24 I would research that. The DR trimmers are pretty popular so I'm guessing many have tried different cutting attachments and lines.
Watching now with breakfast!!! THANK YOU!
@@cobey24 Glad I could help. Enjoy!
How much ?
Well these are so new that I don't have a price sheet for them yet. If you call Groundhog Equipment in Middleburg PA at 570-837-1003 they should be able to answer your questions today. They had 4 in stock last weekend. Don't forget to ask about your Gardner's Groundhog's viewers appreciation Discount. Thanks for watching.
Hi Tory..... been a while but hope all is well. I am TOTALLY interested in doing this..... was there every another video posted after this? I absolutely need to get more info...... I have about 800 feet of stream bank, about 4 feet down on around a 30 to 45 degree slope..... this would be a perfect application I believe. Would love to fabricate something like this JUST using the quick attach.... not the rake. would love to see any follow up videos or more feedback! Thanks!!!!
I believe I have three videos of this DR weed trimmer being used on my Groundhog. It works pretty good but I haven't used it recently. Good luck with your's.
@@cobey24 Did you see the video where I cut the River bank with this attachment?
@@gardnersgroundhogminiexcavator No sir..... this video and the previous one are the only ones I found so far.
You should like that one. Our river bank gets covered in Japanese river weed which gets about 10 feet tall and reminds me of bamboo.

Give Groundhog Equipment a call. They should be able to help you out.
You need quick attached device. I have, cheap
Thanks but I already have one. I just don't use it much because it doesn't fit all of my attachments.
Boy that chinavator has real jerky hydraulics glad I bought my Kubota U10 really smooth hydraulics and for a micro mini comfortable to run. But for a homeowner or someone just starting out can’t beat the price. They are going for $3200.00 bucks at my local auction in my area. Compared to 30 grand I paid but I’m in it for the long haul. I was looking at those buckets in last auction went for a few hundred dollars.
Yes you can definitely find some good deals at those auctions but definitely look the equipment over. The Chinese really get cheap when they are giving the equipment away at auction prices. You can definitely pick out the cheaper machines by looking at the overall metal thickness even though two machines might look exactly alike from a distance. Other things to look for are machines without hydraulic oil filters, lack of cooling fans, and cheaper valves. Its one of those pay now or pay later lessons in life many of us have to learn the hard way. Always buy the heavy duty attachments over the light weight cheap ones if you want them to last.
Nice job! Good to see you back
@@urcindys Thanks! Glad to see your still watching.l!

Good videos. Nice to see the units in action doing real work. Your upgrades are great (stick extenders, chainsaw scabbard, etc.). Keep up the good work. What is the string trimmer(???) attached to your "old" groundhog?
Thanks for the comments. The string trimmer is from DR which I modified to use on my Groundhog. I believe I have several videos of it in use.
Looks like a pretty good way to ruin all the parts left that somebody needs for a plane.
The engine may be unairworthy or something but also the planes that need something that huge and modified are rare and expensive.
@@ericfarrar6607 anything that runs can be made airworthy. They only made like 50,000 of these engines and I for one don't care for some hillbilly blowing them up on a weekly basis l.
@@Areaoverload those hillbillys couldn't give less of a sh** about what you think. Outstanding use for these motors.... but it's probably worth it to have a few more on hand, just to have idling. This would surely block out any other stupid things that might be coming from your mouth. 😅😂
Does anyone know if there is a counterweight for the bh24-d I can't seem to find any pics anywhere
@@hogleg98 The BH24D weighs 3300lb I believe with rubber tracks and 3900lbs with Steel tracks. You can double check my numbers on Groundhog Equipments website. To my knowledge they did not offer a counter weight to this design to gain better access to the engine compartment. I don't believe groundhog offers any actual counter weights as an option on this model other than the steel tracks. I Hope this helps.
These are wonderful for tight spaces be careful they tip easy! Stay centered
