great to hear the comparison. Interesting how the higher ranges sound pretty great but the lower range is weak. The lack of decent RR-replacing randomization is also obvious but I'm sure can be mitigated by even more manual tweaking. Pretty crazy, this modeled stuff.

Hi there, Luigi! I've been trying to arrange pop string sections, but I don't have the sections VST, so with solo, I created 6 first violins, 6 seconds, 4 violas and 4 celli. I tried to vary panning (emulating a real orchestra placement), instruments, CC programing and MIDI note programming. It still sounds weird in some passages. Do you have any tips? One thing I did not automate: bow position and pressure. My reasoning was that these would impart too much character to a section sound, which should be softer and more 'transparent'.

Is it SWAM or live performance?

I always feel the SWAM strings sound the weakest and most synthy from what Audio Modeling produced. They just can't produce the nuances of string harmonics in real string playing to really convince me, and the double stops really compound this problem. SWAM woodwinds and saxophones are fantastic, SWAM brass are quite good in pop/jazz contexts except horns maybe.

I like the authenticity of the sound. If they weren't so perfectly on the grid it would have sounded incredibly convincing.

I get mixed feelings with SWAM violin. I'd say it sounds good but sometimes it can sound too good that can have that "unnatural" sound to it. Kind of like sometimes it sounds like a violin that has been autotuned.
