This excellent long distance hiking route across the western slopes of Tenerife follows some of the GR131 route and is a great alternative if you want to stick to the gorgeous western side of the island. It is joins the ancient La Lecheras route, an old milkmaids ...

Hey looks like a hell on an adventure! I am planning a raftpacking trip with my pals and was considering this route. We’ll be using itiwit inflatable kayaks. Do you think they would cope with the rapids on the Tay?
Ok its time. Can we have the rest of this adventure please?
Hey guys, this looks like a super fun trip! We're thinking of trying this ourselves, but we're new to pack-rafting. We were looking at a cheap inflatable boat, but I'm worried it wouldn't do well with the rapids. What type of boats did you have?
Which boats are you looking at?
I've heard people say the Intex Challenger K1 is a good boat for people starting out, but maybe the Tay would be a bit extreme for it?
Never mind, I’m seeing you camped.. awesome! 😊
Hey mate, I’m glad I finally found a video in this. I’ve hiked across Gran Canaria and have a video series on it as well. One question.. while hiking this, where did you stay overnight after la laguna? I’m having trouble finding lodging options.
The hostel in the centre of la Laguna is great. Quite cheap and close to all facilities and the historic centre. Only 10 minutes walk from the trail too
Thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you liked it :-)
How reliable are the prevailing winds on the lochs? Im planning a 3 or 4 nighter in the near future and have been avoiding looking at routes that involve lochs and lakes because I only have whitewater packraft, but seeing your videos is making me reconsider. Love the sails never thought of that. Do you guys run skegs?
The winds are fickle but great when they're on your side! We didn't have skegs on our last trip, but they definitely help! Paddling into the wind wasn't too bad, but stay to the side of the loch, the weather can change against you in a matter of minutes!
@@richardwest6774 OK really good to know thanks a bunch👍
A canoe full of people with a death wish it seems like . . .
😂😂😂😂
@@richardwest6774 Thanks.
why don't you all make higher canoes has that ever crossed you alls minds 🤔
Why even do that? that is crazy.
u crazy kid 😜
Living the dream. Looks amazing…
It was hard work, but great fun, especially the rapids!
How did you find doing it in the packraft, was it comfortable? I can't decide if to get a packraft or an inflatable kayak, what would you recommend?
Hi Luke, Doing the trip on a packraft was comfortable but slow going. Having the wind behind us most of the way was a real benefit, so was all the training we did before hand! I wouldn't bother with an inflatable like a sevylor now, due to the massive increase in weight for very little benefit. Being able to hike out with our boats on our backs is a massive benefit and has saved us a couple of times when paddling wasn't an option. Prices are also starting to come down to reasonable levels - even Decathlon are starting to sell packrafts!
Nice vid but the music just killed it for me.
Really cool footage! Just subscribed
looking good westy 😁
Cheers bud, it was an awesome trip! Knacker but great fun!
looking good old boy!
thats alot of bats...
It was quite a spectacle!
Do you think this trip could be done in a SeaEagle FastTrack 385?
Should be fine, faster than our packrafts. Stick near the shore, we had a few hairy moments on a couple of the lochs because we ventured across bays rather than round them and were caught out by the weather!
Looks like an amazing adventure, I have an inflatable canoe, I bought it a few years ago. I think it is a Sevylor. You have inspired me
We normally use Sevylors for our shorter journeys! Far more robust than pack rafts :-)
