I am the owner of the most exclusive antique japanese ceramics,by far, the oldest polychromed plaques in the world, made by Lord Nabeshima to empress Meisho's enthronation (1629) and abdication (1643). I offered to the all the heads department of asian art (or japanese) in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo,etc. ,and all of them ,except the japanese,only said stupidities. And i had scientist proofs (thermoluminescence and composition and pigment test).

Sotheby's, Chrystie's and Bonhams are horribly stupid places. Their supposed "experts" sometimes have no idea,and never recognize their mistakes. They are so conceited.

The auction houses have no incentive to appraise jade properly. I have a 5 color jadeite from Vietnam that is real and was told it was another stone, not jade, had to insist with the “expert” then they relented. They’re probably just jealous

THX for sharing your expertise, wow, you have some great pieces in your collection, must have been a hard job to get this all together, the only thing i have a problem with is when you tell there are Blue chips of agate in the glaze, as far as i know from my field of expertise there is no blue agat found in nature, and if you see nowadays agate which is blue, be shure it has been chemically treated to change the colour, maybe the blue chips are Azurite or another blue mineral which does not melt at 1200 celcius, i was amazed when i found out Quarz was/is used to make the glaze on blue ware , to give the pieces an opportunity to survive mankind. regards, Ad

Most appraisers are not in their own state of mind. They don’t even the know what they are looking at. I tried to show them the photo of the most important ancient bronze vessel in China called Houmuwu Ding. I was shock when they told me it is counterfeit. I asked them why, and they answered it is a counterfeit period. Appraisers like this should be kicked out because they don’t belong to this kind of job period.
