It is indeed!
@MinutemanTheory Gonna wish I had something like that this week for my trip.
@@royharrell1760 They're a game changer when camping for sure!
That's the most expensive swag I've ever seen!
What about by volume ?
We were testing by volume. We tested by weight in our follow up video!
Will barrel length make a difference ? Pistol vs rifle
I wouldn't think so, but I don't know for sure. Worth testing for sure!
Love the realism of never getting char-cloth to work; boy scout tip though, you'll get way more sparks if you hold the knife still and pull on the magnesium!
Oooh! Great tip!
best thumbnail EVER kinda reminds me of the caveman geico commercials
Haha. Thanks!

Perseverance! Love you guys!
Indeed! Thanks!
Made my morning. 🙂
Just send it!
Ahhh, the frustration set in!
It shouldn't be too much for a new manufacturer. I would check with a gun smith to be sure.
So glad to have found this channel via your mentioning it over at the PH channel. I grew up in Billings and lived in Missoula for many years before moving further west. I am an introvert, so being alone and/or quiet is not a big struggle for me. There is a big difference between “alone” and “lonely”, even though the middle parts of both are the same. It is good to be bored. It is healthy to go outside and feel your emotions and thoughts and work on sorting them out. Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes cry, but it can really heal you. Growing up, my brother, dad, and I would go cross country skiing along the Yellowstone near our home. I had the good fortune to have shared the quiet solitude of skiing at dusk, light fading, while the snow was falling. The three of us know the value of solitude and back then we would ski 20 or so meters apart. All I could hear was the shush of my skis, my breathing, and if I stopped, I could hear the snow land. The world closed with the darkening light and all there was was me, the breezes, snow, and the cold. For the power of that moment to hit and stay with a 9year old and still have meaning today at 55 is powerful. (I know each time I remember it, I probably romanticize it at least 10% more, but the core of it is still true). I learned that this was normal and healthy and something to seek and thrive in. I can’t thank my dad enough for getting us into that mind set. Get out, learn to be with your self and also learn, you can do this. You will be stronger for it, and you will be truly living. Thank you for bringing back these memories for me and reminding me to get out when it is too easy to watch another RUclips video. This one was definitely worth it.
@@photofermata thank you for the kind words and for sharing those memories. A lot of people especially avoid going outside during the winter because of the cold, but the way the snow absorbs a lot of sound, creates a super peaceful a surreal environment just like you described. Thanks for watching and dropping your thoughts in the comments!
Need to talk to Roy about Paul’s channel. I think it’s time to admit that ripping off fans for $30 is a terrible idea. I’m doing an expose video. Was this yours or Roy’s idea to do this?
What are you talking about?
I believe you have the wrong channel to be talking about this. Might I suggest talking about that on Roy's channel?
To anyone who see this. I got a bunch of .451 conicals that weigh 230 grains. Is that too heavy for an 1858 new model army repro and if not what powder charge should I use?
Different powder charges will change your point of impact. May want to test different load charges.
So, I have a bone to pick... shall we chew? Pyrodex is a different chemical composition than black powder. Pyrodex has a different pressure gradient than black powder. It is not necessarily "more powerful " than black powder. The alternative composition, creates much harder fouling and also is just as corrosive as black powder, causing the barrel to become tersed over time. I just bought a Civil War Carbine that is a good example of what happens when you don't clean your gun after shooting, and I don't doubt the previous owners used Pyrodex (the fouling is so bad, its hard to load a regular undersized soft-swaged lead slug, let alone a full-bore slug.) Pyrodex fouling is notorious for its hardness, sometimes being even harder than the lead being shot from the gun. I actually learned this from personal experience, through my 1865 New Model Army Remington with the 12 inch barrel. It took me a year of shooting and cleaning with various methods to remove the fouling from the original cylinder. It was so bad, I bought a second cylinder partially due to that reason! Pyrodex is garbage. I'll shoot balsa powder before I ever shoot Pyrodex again, and I don't like balsa powder.
We've had some other people mention the terrible fouling as well, and it tracks with our experience on the range. I (Brad) recently bought some black powder, and I'm going to be using it exclusively now (except for specific experiments of course). Thank you for your input!
Randomly got curious about the subject, got the answer, love the simplicity
Thanks!
Years ago I tried using Pyrodex in my percussion Hawken. I experienced hang fires and my gun was five times more difficult to clean afterwards. I went back to black powder and no more problems.
That seems to be our experience as well.
I got a question as I'm new to this but why would you not want your ball to be blown through your patch and what does it mean if it is blown through? Thank you!
It means the powder is pushing the ball through the patch. It won't engage the rifling correctly and may bounce down the barrel.
These days, component AVAILABILITY is my main concern. Its getting difficult to get b.p. not to mention percussion caps.
No kidding! Seems like percussion caps are especially hard to get where we are.
Here from the 1.5mil celebration. Looking forward to seeing watch y'all have to offer. Cheers from North Idaho!
Thanks for checking us out!
Where at in North Idaho?
My father did time in the montana state prison its called deerlodge. My father said it was glorified daycare for example the inmates eat great! Gladiator school is a massive leap. 13 months in “gladiator school” he came back unchanged.
There is a cool museum in the old state pen in Deer Lodge. Took a tour a couple years ago and it was super cool! Haven't been to the current state pen in Deer Lodge though haha.
Roy sent me. Subscribed.
Thanks for checking us out! Whereabouts are you in Montana? We might be close by!

Thank you. It's been an honor working with Paul, and now Roy.
I'm here from the shameless plug 😂 I'm just getting into the black powder realm. Do you have any opinions on the ubertie 1873 cap and ball saa? I'm thinking of buying one soon, thanks!
Thanks for checking us out! Haha. Don't know about that specific revolver, but I have a traditions cap and ball revolver that is a ton of fun! - Brad

Pyrodex: avg-1500fps, SD-26.65fps, ES-50fps BP: avg-1518fps, SD-26.53fps,ES-54fps 18fps difference in average and standard deviations of around 26fps so you can call them basically the same thing And gotta admit for something measured out “volumetrically” pretty dang consistent Gotta admit though ive always shot pyrodex through and of my bp stuff
Not to be rude because I not too familiar with how muzzle loaders shoot but what’s the goal here. I see you didn’t hit the target at all was the goal just to find consistency so you can make tweaks and dial it in? I’m going through the same thing with my compound bow. Figuring out the consistency in my shots. If I’m stacking arrows low left of what I’m aiming at then I know I need to adjust a little for that
Yes. The goal was to find that consistency. We ended up shooting out to 500 yards after that.
@ holy crap!!… nice shooting. To be honest I didn’t know muzzleloaders shot that far… what bullet are you shooting?
@@gralls4204 Well, we only hit the target once at 500 haha. But we are going to try and get more hits in the future. We were just using .54 cal lead round balls.
So both missed?
It's note skip and hit , But a shot report bullet crack sound then the bullet at very slow speed hitting the target.
The inventor and owner of paradox admitted at the national Muzzle loading rifle association that it is only black powder with the deterrent on it. With the shi# on it is classified as a extremely flamble material instead of and explosive.
One is black powder and gives good results when used in black powder guns. Pyrodex isn't.
How about testing Triple 7
We'll put it on the list!
nice sending
You will find that different brands of Black Powder will vary in density, so the results will vary. And your title is misleading.
