It appears to me that as your stamina gets low you don't run as fast. I can't prove it, but the only times I have ever been caught by a cougar or moose my stamina was below 50%. You wondered if things have changed, it is quite possible that instead you have become better at managing your stamina. Jumping does not make you faster, nor does it affect an animal that is aggro'd on you in any way. It is easy to test if jumping makes you faster by going on a server and have one person just run and another run and jump. Interestingly, if you build a road out of foundations or ceilings you cannot outrun a moose or a bear while on that road. They are simply faster on built items. It can take as little as 4 foundations for them to catch up to you, longer of course if you have a good lead on them when you get on the road.

Good Tutorial. I am some what, of a Veteran on this game had it since day one of release. however i died on day 2 The other day due to no creates spawning with metal or nails . and verry few at that, no idea what was going on.

If you have 125 health you can do it. I did it about 3 weeks after he added the cave system to the game. Great gameplay and the building is almost perfect (preferences). 👍

A cougar killed me and dragged my body to it's den.. took me 15 mins to get my body back. I was fishing and a hawk stole my fish as I was reeling it in. This game don't play around.

Damn i could not even start this game on normal let alone in the winter..damn i really suck at this game 😂

What puts the gaming off is crafting & wasted so much time to build stuff. The game isn't enjoyable when time is wasted doing the same stuff all over again for 1 item & repeat on another part. It should be removed

Didn't know about the jumping. I just kept running lmao. I thought the occasional hit was just speed loss from terrain. I'm always hunting moose with like 10-12 arrows. I always need 2x as much for cougars. I've always found counting the attacks unreliable. I just got good at listening to the footsteps. Definitely going to try that door thing. A cougar punted me off a cliff once so I never use shotgun unless I know the 1 shot will kill it lol.

Great tutorial, thank you. Would you provide a screen shot / list of controller keys used to “auto chop” wood from trees, shoot bow / guns, & catching fish. Can’t read the pop up hints to small.

OK. I have to ask... How the hell do you possibly stack enough resources to do this? AND have a giant base like that? My days are spent grinding out enough wood and food to keep myself alive for the next day. I can get a genny and a few things together, but I must really be doing something wrong lol!

This game is amazing. It’s Almost the perfect realistic survival game ever made. That said you are approaching it all wrong. For the first few days or weeks don’t worry about dying. In fact you should die a lot from not eating and just grinding as much as you can. Make a foundation and a storage box and just keep dumping everything in the box right before you starve to death including your clothes. You’ll spawn in again with new pants every time. Tear them up into rags because you’ve stored your good pair on the storage box. Keep doing this until you can build an entire base and have plenty of arrows. Then build the base and use the arrows for hunting small game. Keep grinding and soon enough you be able to stay alive without any issues.

PLACE THE BCU ON THE SECOND FLOOR FOR MAXIMUM COVERAGE. IT'S A DOME NOT A SQUARE. TO REACH ALL OF THE 5X5 IT NEEDS TO BE ON THE SECOND FLOOR IN THE EXACT MIDDLE. YOU CAN DO THIS BY PLACING HALF WALLS AND FLOORS. PLACE ONE-HALF WALL ON EITHER SIDE OF THE MIDDLE SQUARE THEN PLACE A HALF FLOOR ON IT. REMOVE THE HALF WALL AND PLACE IT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HALF FLOOR. NOW YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE IT IN THE EXACT CENTER AND REACH THE CORNERS OF THE BUILDING. PLACE THE BCU ON THE SIDE WITHOUT THE HALF FLOOR JUST ABOVE EYE LEVEL AND IT SHOULD REACH THE 4 CORNERS OF THE BUILDING NOW.

OPEN THE MAP AND HEAD TO THE CAVE THAT SHOWS UP ON IT. THATS THE NORTH LAKE AND SAFEST PLACE.

Great tutorial, things to add would be level 1 wolf you can take with 5-7 shots from the 9mm pistol, I always build a platform with a doorway to stop the cougar or bear coming onto the platform. You use less ammo that way and you always get them every time. I didnt know about the jumping with the moose but they scare the crap out of me!!!

just got into this game with some friends. Got a dedicated server up & learning all the ropes these vids help! tysm :).. It's so hard to find cotton before winter comes, i rarely find seeds and even more rarely find the plant

Another good video!! Yes dump the medicinal seeds because you get so many while running. You can tell the size of fish by the width of the sway in the water, small is small fish big sway and water big fish. You can refill canteens without stepping into water just to the edge and hear the splash then fill canteen. Carrots are great for adding mass, x3 per carrot. Looking forward to this series, thanks!! Love fresh starts they are so exciting, when you die you lose 30% of stuff you carry which is why I build the bed first and get a spawn point. I never bother returning to keep a campfire going just easier to make new fire starters. Base for me is BCU only when I have a lot of material, then wood stove, bed, light, power expansion, generator refinery. Good building spot, loads of fish, kelp and pearls, locked crates behind you.

Great review! I love this game it is soo addictive and CG the dev does such a good job on updates and refinements. Some basic tips the day cycle is 30 mins and the night cycle is 7 mins so I have a clock in front of me and I look at the time when the sun comes up and then I run out for 15 mins then turn and come back. If you look east and raise your head as high as you can you can see when you are at midday and then turn west and look up and you can gauge how much time you have left. Day one for me is always loot as much as possible so you can build; platform, fire, fire starers, fishing rod and chest. If you learn the map you can run grub tree to grub tree and get a good load. Where you were in the valley by your lake is amazing for fibres and loot. Looking forward to a good series and thanks for taking the time to make these vids. Maybe look at a series that breaks down specific tips area by area such food, weapons, map locations etc?
