LEGO Speed Build with Light Kit - 10249 Winter Toy Shop
It is my favorite time of year when I can break out my LEGO Winter Village (let's be honest... it never really goes away)! Set 10249, the Winter Toy Shop, was my first LEGO Winter Village set. It was released in 2015 and was my personal take on the traditional glass Christmas Village that I grew up with as a kid. I've taken that a step further by adding on a Light My Bricks light kit.
Unfortunately, this set is officially retired, so if you are looking for it then you will have to find it through a reseller. Prices in the US range between $200-$400 depending on the conditon (hint hint... pricing goes down when it's not the holidays!).

LEGO Speed Build - 75244 Tantive IV
Просмотров 493 года назад
A classic ship in the SW universe, this CR90 Corellian corvette named the Tantive IV was in service of House Organa. This was a real pleasure to build and add to the collection. It's a MUST HAVE for any Star Wars fans and looks great displayed on Wicked Bricks display stand! Set 75244 is an updated remake of set 10198 released in 2009 and gets a bump from 1,387 parts and 5 minifigs up to 1,742 ...

LEGO Speed Build - 60110 Fire Station
Просмотров 584 года назад
This was one of my early speed builds so the quality isn't spot on. However, this is the second fire station that I have ever built now with my first being the classic 6571 Flame Fighters set from 1994. Lots of upgrades since then in the design, so I was super excited when I found this in a bulk buy! Set 60110 was released in 2016 and consisted of 887 parts. I especially like the fire pole and ...

LEGO Speed Build - 8039 Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.4 года назад
The Venator-class attack cruiser is immediately recognizable as the precursor to the Imperial Star Destroyer! Released in 2009 and coming in at 1,148 parts and 5 minifigs, this set is not quite as big as some of the Imperial Star Destroyer sets, which have 200-300 more parts, but it's also supposed to be smaller! The original Venator-class cruiser had a length of 1,137 meters, which is over 400...
LEGO Speed Build - 7018 Viking Ship Challenges the Midgard Serpent
Просмотров 1 тыс.4 года назад
This set is one of only seven sets that comprise the short-lived LEGO Vikings theme. Released in 2005, set 7018 consisted of 544 parts and came with 6 minifigs. I always wanted this set, but am a little underwhelmed by it. There was a lot of potential with how large this hull is, but at 544 parts it just feels empty.

Making the Dream Big Glass Etching in LED Edge-lit Frame
Просмотров 54 тыс.4 года назад
This was a project that took me 2 years to get to, and it ended up being a very different project from the original idea of a wood carving! The idea came to me when a random conversation made me think of glass exit signs that are lit from the top. So why not create my own edge-lit LED frame to see if I could get a similar effect on a glass etching? Main Supplies: Armour Etch Etching Cream -www....

    Nice to see that, despite the battered outer box, everything came out in working condition and that it turned into an enjoyable unboxing and assembling experience. Just got mine as well and I'm impressed with the attention to detail and build quality. The only concern I have is support and replacement parts. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

      I actually just had an induction sensor fail. I'll probably do a video on it for trouble shooting, but when I reached out they had me verify some steps to test it and then just ended up sending me a new onr within 48 business hours of opening the service ticket.

    Next time try cutting your template as a mirror image and etch the design backwards on the back side of the glass. LED edge lighting looks a little better that way.

      Snapmaker was pretty good at giving regular updates on their Kickstarter page, but not so much for those who placed pre-orders. I did see quite a few people asking for refunds on the Kickstarter page, many of whom cited the long wait potentially resulting in an outdated product technology-wise. I was starting to get worried past 12 months, but I'm glad I hung in there! Been running this thing non-stop and so far everything is working out well (promise to knock on wood later).

      @@MakerMelton thanks for the reply. It looks like a fun and useful machine. I have two CR10S’s and an Ender 3 pro which are great machines but it would be nice to have a small laser engraver and CNC for certain projects. Maybe I’ll pick one up if I don’t grab an x-carve or Shapeoko CNC. Always nice to have more than you need when it cones to tools and machines.

      @MakerMelton 4 года назад

      @@3dbronze Amen to that! I was just introduced to the Ender 3 and the Dremel DigiLab. It really makes me think that two (or three) would definitely be better than one! I've been running a Star Wars cosplay print for 4 days now, and I wish I could be working on a second piece of the armor at the same time.

    • @3dbronze
      @3dbronze 4 года назад

      @@MakerMelton Yeah I don’t think there are many makers who stop at just one 3D printer. For a couple hundred bucks the Ender 3 is what I’d recommend for sure. Parts are cheap, it’s easy to fix and there are thousands of pages of forums to help you troubleshoot any printing/printer problems that may arise. All of that plus the Creality printers print really good with little effort once you get the hang of things. I don’t know much about the Dremel machines but they definitely seem to be more geared towards occasional hobbyist rather than everyday makers (in my opinion), if that makes sense.
