Always 305... seen him run a 307 once, almost as cringeworthy. Until there are no 350s not worth time or money...

Chevy made some great engines over time, many of them. The 307 is NOT one of them. You could easily say that the 307 is the worst engine ever built since 1955. Just about worthless.

305 gets a bad rap. I came across a 1978 boat in excellent condition. Engine was taken apart. It was a 305. I'm a Ford person. Always had that mythical disrespect for the " smog motor ". I don't know why someone took the engine out, all the parts were in great condition. So I decided to put a performance cam, valve springs and a stock 4 barrel quad on it. Didn't idle worth a crap. Took off slow but had excellent top end. I could hang with nearly any boat on the lake and was often faster. It was an open bow boat. You could tell the boat was nearing the limit of speed the hull could handle. 305 has a weird bore and stroke ratio, but it can be made to work.

I do not think those are 283 heads. Look at the alternator mounting holes in the head . Late 327 or 350 heads.

Finally somebody knows how to do exhaust, Beautiful job My dad still has his 84 Monte Carlo SS And he brought the 3 and a 1/2 or the 3 inch whatever it was I forget, But I'll tell you he didn't run turnouts he brought him out sucked up behind the back tire just like the 65 Chavez you could barely see it it looks so good you had to really like the blind Eye You know what I mean cause look how you did your exhaust sweet ride awesome build I love it

I just put a 283 in my 34 chevy. 305 HO heads, RV cam, Offenhauser daul 2 barrel rodchestors, nice block hugger header will full length exaust, turbo 350 followd by 373 posi. Snappy little ride that gets about 18 mpg and stays cool enough to do the cruise loops.

The Chevy 283 is an iconic engine, almost bulletproof. It was the gateway to a line of larger displacement small block engines that are a very beloved and popular part of automotive history in North America. My first car in the last year of high school circa 1972, was a 1957 Bell Air with a 283, 4-bbl, 3 speed stick on the floor and an NHRA decal in the rear window.

305 is the best motor Chevy ever made. If it’s set up correctly and tuned properly it’ll run forever and have enough power to tear up the streets.

It's a work of art man, so beautiful it tear a to my eye. What's the rod length to crank stroke ratio of a 283? I think pretty good if I remember. Big bore short stroke long rod, they just seem to run really good that way.

I see a lot of your videos. A lot of 305 and 307 stuff I can relate to. These little motors often the stepchildren of the Chevy small block family are inexpensive to acquire and lots of fun!
