The Pentagon is a sick blade.I got it for a battle belt for larping lol.I might get the smaller Covert model for edc.MSRP is too high imo.$250 can get me into higher end knives.
A lot of SOG is priced high. They have sales frequently though. It's a quality piece.

GREAT video!!! Thank you for the comparison. I didn't know that the Natches was so MUCH BIGGER! I love the Natchez, it's an excellent knife so of course, the Laredo's on it's way (in 4034 too)! One of them I'll end up getting in 3V and I think that the Laredo might be it but, I gotta see how it feels. And I had a friend (another Utuber) sand down that blocky G-10 handle on that knife and says, it's one of the best Bowie's he has now!!! Again man, great video...

I have the same exact but bigger Eagle talon from around 1989..still a sweet pocket carry..fully hand engraved by a master engraver. Cheers brother.

Remember: "Hondo" was originally filmed as a "3D" movie in 1953! That is why you see the lunges directly toward the camera! 3D, of course, could not be duplicated for videos or TV!

I know there Chinese made now but how sharp was it out the box
Wasn't bad from what I recall. I believe I touched it up some.
There is VG1 San Mai III available now that has little different design similar to the Outdoorsman that makes it slimmer and more practical to carry. The look to me is better and of course the upgrade for the steel is also welcome. Sheath also is different and improved. The polished bits are now brushed and slimmer also.

How do you sharpen the clip that's I need to get that sharpened
It can be sharpened in stones but need a very coarse grit to start

I'm thinking about the Case version now to go with my Ka-Bar US Army model. I like that big handle but may or may not care for the o-rings. I wish I had bought an Ontario 498 but haven't seen them lately except a few on ebay. These style knives are just cool and i'd like the Ka-Bar short fighter except the handle is tiny. The first combat style knife I bought decades ago was a Ka-Bar 1211 with the leather sheath and black Kraton handle and it came from the factory with the swedge sharpened. Glad to see these type videos on here so people can compare.

I have the same exact model with the OD Green scales. This knife beats all my folders, even ones costing $300.00 + Because of the Recon 1, I don't need another folder, but that doesn't mean I won't buy more. Thanx for the video my Bladed Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
