Fixing Delonghi Magnifica S dumping water into drip tray
Просмотров 62 тыс.2 года назад
Note: Since making this video I have found the best O-Ring replacement is "4mm (ID) x 2mm (CS) silicone o-ring" I have seen packs of 10 for under £3 online. (Update: Dec 2022) It may be worth considering changing the whole "DeLonghi Infusion Piston Plate", some traders call it a "Coffee Maker Generator", as there are many other o-rings that can wear out, and the infuser piston and pipes get gro...

So I can confirm that this tutorial still works with URP and the more recent Avatars but I had to change some settings in the Camera Inspector. Click SHOW MORE to see instructions. To render Avatars: Add Layers 10 and 15 in the layer menu, they are activated by typing text in the blank layers, type "10" in layer 10 for example. then return to the camera settings and add them to the culling mask...

I've fixed mine too using this tutorial! Thank you so much! 2024-12 greetings from Lithuania 🎉
Really wanted this to work but my machine is still dumping water into the grounds container (not the drip tray). Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?
Sounds like you have a different leak point, Maybe replaceing the entire piston head assembly will be your solution. It's a little more work but not a lot of money. 30 to 50 quid
ugh i have this problem but after taking the full component out i found that mine needs a full rebuild as the lower oring was leaking and i found a few other that are wornout and i need of replacement so i bought a rebuildkit on amazon as my supplyer doesnt have one well see if the last as long as OEM
Just did this with my magnifica xs and it worked perfectly , took it apart and checked every hose and connection for leaks or clogs and was about to send it and came across this video ! Thank you sir 🫡
Thanks so much for this video - I fixed my ECAM23.450 with your tips and a new 4mm x 2mm o-ring from eBay. Much appreciated!
Thanks Phil. But do read my comment in the description (Update: Dec 2022) about the value of changing the whole piston plate. It has many o-rings, not just the one in the video, and for about 30 to 50 quid can completely renew your machine for a longer period. Its only a little more dissembly but well worth it.
This is my machine and also my problem and I was about to replace it with a new one, so thank you very much!
Worked for me on DeLonghi PrimaDonna Class. Thank you very much.
Thanks for posting this. I have a Magnifica S at home but with a digital display. A little different than this one but similar enough. I applied this fix and it was easy following your video. Thank you.
Thank you, fixed my machine with the help of your video
Brilliant, this video helped me diagnose a similar problem I had with the Delonghi Primadonna Deluxe, and fixed it! Thanks so much 🙏
Thanks, always nice to know. Also you have some amazing videos on youtube.
Thanks brother it was exactly the problem I had
great video, helped me a lot!
Thanks. Fixed with your video
Thank you for this video! I had the same issue on my Primadonna S (ECAM model) and the fix is similar. There are videos on how to open that model as well if someone is looking for that. Coffee machine fixed with a 50 cents o-ring. Forever grateful!
Thank you very much for this helpful video Andy. I managed to fix my machine as a result of your wonderful step by step instructions.
Just watched your video as my coffee machine was doing the same thing. Spent £3.50 and the o-ring I needed. Followed your steps and all working fine now. Thanks so much. I have to ask, how did you know it was that o-ring to replace lol
Thank you So much
Thank you, that solved my problem.
Thanks for letting me know, it always brings a smile to my face.
This fixed it for me 😊
I have the magnifica xs and when I do decalc, it leaks the water all over. Normally, when I turn the machine on or off, it rinses from the normal way but I wonder if this ring would solve that problem as well? I had opened a few months ago and o-rings on the side looked fine. Thank you in advance.
Thank you Andy for making this video. This really helped me fix my machine which was dripping water in the drip tray. You saved me $200 to get it fixed. 👍🏼
Thanks for letting me know Anthony, glad it helped.
Followed this tonight with the correct orings but now it’s dumping all the water from the rinse into the grinds bin - I’ve had it apart several times and swapped out the oring - no joy it’s actually worse than before
This is just a fix for a quite common o-ring issue, you must have another issue entirely. I would suggest buying the whole infuser piston assembly as they are not too expensive, i've seen them for about £30 in the UK.
@@andywood2012 Cheers stripped down the brew infuser and found a broken oring so that’s on order - fingers crossed
Thank you so much for this. Could not have fixed my machine without it.
Thanks for letting me know, I'm so glad it helped.
Hi, wo hast du diese o-ring set gekauft, gute set ...
Thanks for making this video I orderes O rings, follow you step by step, clean it and my 9 years olds machine is like new
Thanks so much for letting me know, it makes me very happy to see someone fixed thier machine with a little help from the video,.
Thnks. Fixed mine. With same probelm.
Dear Andy, I have just replaced the 4x2mm O-ring as you described, and leaking issue is gone. I was loosing about 1/3 of water into tray every cup of coffee. Thank you very much.
Thanks for letting me know, it's always a joy to know someone has fixed their machine with a little help from the video.
Thanks for the video! Sorted my problem!
It worked for me! After i cleaned a piston and changed the o ring my machine is working like brand new. Thanks for making this video
The problem is the machine is very dirty, better cleaning
I agree, I did the video quickly just as an instruction for my uncle, I did clean it properly before giving them the machine. My hands are also covered in washing powder as I was also doing some emergency hand washing during the shooting after some one had a little accident with some curry.
My machine has been leaking for a while. I thought it was just age then today all water/coffee stopped coming out. Sen this video which I will give a go despite being only moderately 'handy'! My question is the O ring. Is the 4mm ID or OD? About to order 8mm OD, 4mm ID, 2mm width. Does that sound right?
Thanks for bringing that excellent question up,The O-Ring you want is 4mm (ID) by 2mm (CS), and needs to be silicone to last, they are normally red. I'll update the description.
My Delonghi Magnifica S is dumping water the Coffee grounds container, not sure if its the same problem but I think its very similar sort of issue.
When I recognise the machine is the same as mine it is worth watching the video. And using a manual screwdriver. Anyone who uses an electric screwdriver on plastic parts is asking for problems.
I’m having the same issue with my ECAM250 Magnifica S Smart. It’s dumping approximately 100-125ml of water into the drip tray for each regular coffee it makes (not the long one, and excluding the switch on/off process). It’s still under warranty, but now due to go back to the repair centre for a third time. They keep trying to tell me there’s nothing wrong with it! It’s gradually got worse over the last couple of months, so I know it’s not normal. I have Supplied video evidence too. One CS told me a few ml was acceptable, but not that much. The service centre don’t seem to want to fix it though. Anyone have any ideas how to actually get them to sort this under warranty?
Excellent video ..... I had the same issue on the Authentica model. Fixed with a 4mm inside diameter x 2mm. Re-assembled using food grade silicone gease on all o-rings
Hi thanks for video but i have a problem when i use stream works fine but when i make coffee not water start (mean pump not start working its works on steam only) can you help me please
It's the same pump for steam as it is the hot water, so I'm not sure what's wrong if you can hear the pump when you get steam, but not when you select hot water or a brew. Do you have any issue reported on the display when you brew? Are you getting water anywhere other than where it should be coming out? I would suggest having a look inside to make sure all the water pipes and electrical connections are attached, but it does sound from your description that something is wrong with either a sensor or the system.
@andywood2012 thank for replying , I unplugged all pipes all working great there's no problem when I use steam key the pump working but when I am using coffee key only pump not working like no command maybe its a board problem?
From what you say It seems like a controller board issue rather than something physical.
@andywood2012 thanks a lot ❤️
Thank you for this great and detailed video. I was able to follow your instructions and resolve the issue with my Delonghi Magnifia xs. I would like to add that I found the correct size O ring, at Lowes really cheap. It was around $3 for 10 of them. The part in made by Danco #61
Hmmm whats the morale innthis? Buy original spare parts, instead of beeing a cheapskate.
Nailed it! Thank you so much buddy. This was a really clear and detailed guide and it worked a treat. Ended up getting a box of o rings from screwfix in the end. Had the size I needed, if a bit pricey. 😅
Note: it is normal for some water to accumulate into the drip tray when the infuser changes position, especially when you are generating steam for frothing. Yes, cleaning the clogged valve on the top if the generator will resolve this issue. Contact your local DeLonghi authorized service center for the correct OEM replacement parts.
Don’t they just sell washer sets for delonghi ? O rings have quite specific tolerances
Yes, There's an official partner that supplies parts in the UK for Delongi who where kind enough to email me an exploded diagram when I was trying to diagnose the issue with my coffee machine. It didn't really help as it was very low resolution and not fully keyed, and their parts are considerably more expensive as you would expect. As long as you are purchasing food safe, silicone (red) washers of the correct size it should be fine. But I much more recommend replacing the whole piston unit as its so cheap, I've seen them under £30!
Hi I’ve changed the o ring but with no luck the water is pumping out of both pipes that we disconnect in your video but not making it out the spout just in to the grounds container
Sounds to me the washer could be the wrong size or put in wrong just like I did in this video? I left the errors I made as helpful instruction what could go wrong. it might be something else of course but I can't diagnose anything as I havn't got this machine any more. ( I made this video as instruction for a dear uncle who I was about to give the machine)
Shall I get 8mmx4mmx2mm mate I’m confused lol
@@andywood2012 do you think the 8mm x 4mm x 2mm will be right mate
Do you have a link or anything mate
I have a ecam23.460 does exactly this, is it literally just that o ring that causes the issue an do you no why mate gotta give it aho
The O-ring gets tired over time as it is holding back hot water with a lot of pressure. But as I say in the description, it's worth considering a complete "Infusion Piston Plate" instead of just the O-ring. It's under £30 and has a lot of parts that get grubby.
@@andywood2012 cheers mate might give the o ring a try first just trying to source the right one
@@andywood2012 is 8mm0d 4mmid and 2mm width sound right
@@andywood2012 or I’ve found 4mmod 2mmid by 1mm sorry mate
Yes, 4 mm OD.. which is the outside diameter, and 2mm hole.
I can't find 4mm X 2 mm silicone o rings anywhere!! 6 mm is the smallest OD I can find. Anyone have a source? Thank you for your video btw!
I found this on ebay. £1.40 for 6. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293659236651
4.5x2mm worked for me. No idea how long it'll last, it was still a little loose like your 5x2 but did work. Maybe your screwdriver damaged it?
It may of been. I don't recommend replacing the one O-ring though as you can get the whole brew unit for about £30. But if some wants an easier task do make sure the O-ring is designed for heat like I say in the desciption.
@andywood2012 I was wrong anyway, seems it was too big. Water was coming from the head and the drip tray (and also somewhere underneath). I did notice it's also coming from the pipe on the head rather than just the nozzles. These things are a right pain
Now I'm really confused. I borrowed the o ring from the black piece since it looks like a perfect fit (same as the original but slightly thicker. Does the exact same thing
Thanks a million for your help
Excellent video, I have exactly the same issue and will try your fix
Thanks for the upload...fixed my machine that hasn't been making coffee for years...can't believe it was so easy... ...you are the best ♥️
Hi what size o ring did you use
@user-jm5ew1gd3e Sorry, this is gonna be a bit of a "chick" answer, I just went to the shop bought a multipack of small o-rings and measured the busted o-ring against the new one.. I can say for sure there were about 12 in the pack and the one I used was the smallest one of 12...no measurements on the pack It's the smallest o-ring I've ever saw... Sorry the information can't be better
@@donnakay147 aha no worries Thankyou for your reply I tried this also but tho l it’s too small lol
Thank you for puting here this video. Following it I fix the problem with my Delonghi-Ecam23.420.
Best video I’ve found on RUclips. Replacement o ring cost me £1.40 on eBay (including delivery) and in less than an hour the machine was fixed. Caffeine fix supplier once more fully functional. Many thanks for taking the time to post this video
