Welcome, my name is Dena & this channel is a little glimpse into my DIY life.
I love sharing simple DIYs and home decorating all the way to really large DIY construction projects such as self building our dream home (& everything in between)!
Before starting this channel, we spent 17 years designing, renovating, and decorating homes, (& moving 17 times) we were homesick & really missed our families. We decided to sell our home, walk away from a dream job, schools, & give it all up to move back home and raise our children near family! BEST decision of our lives! We purchased vacant land & put all our construction and DIY skills to the test by designing and building the cottage, all DIY for a budget of $70K (in 2017)and the rest is history!
If you love home decor trying your hand at all kinds of DIY, be sure to hit that subscribe button and follow along as I share how to build a beautiful life one DIY at a time!

How to Build and Stain a Beautiful Custom Wall Shelf Using Varathane Premium Wood Stain
Beautiful, love ❤️ the fabric, I think pinch pleat curtains look much more expensive
How much have you spent to build this place? How much money did you save building it yourself? Is there a cost per square foot
Great to see how much progress you have made! Since we last traded comments, we have pour the footers, poured the basement slab, and have the walkout basement Fox Blocks stacked two courses from the next level. Love your wrap around porch. We are planning something similar. It is a LOT of work but I am sure that you and your husband feel a great sense of accomplishment and approaching the finish of your home.
Why did y’all decide to do housewrap?
Glad to get an update! The corner trim may have taken a long time, but it looks really amazing. I was eyeballing it even before you started talking about it. Well done.
My favorite RUclips channel
That is such a huge complement! Thank you SO much!
Wow I’am so proud of you and your husband, great job and I can’t wait to see each step of the build👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗😍
Thank you for the support and for cheering us on!!!
Advice from a old cabinetmaker , don't worry about the kitchen doors just make the best cabinets no melamine all wood interiors with solid wood edging . But that a hell of house smart to go big and not get caught up in some crazy roof design
I’m confused.. I thought she said she wasn’t an artist… hmmm I know some professional artists that can’t paint half that beautifully. 🤔
Your painting is hung too high above your sofa. Bring it down about half so it looks like it is connected.
You and pillows recovered! Where did you buy fabric for pillows?
Good to hear you have recovered 🙏 loved the way your painting and pillows turned out!! I love seeing a traditional looking watch. What brand and model please. 🙏 I love the way it sits on the wrist. Giving up the Apple Watch! ⌚️ 😊
Thanks so much! 😊 The watch is very comfortable and the brand is Tawny Ave (the grealy watch). I gave up the Apple watch too:)
Hi Dena, I am So Glad that your video popped up in my feed. Thank You So Much for creating and sharing this Wonderful video with us. I'm So Grateful to The Lord for your healing, and that you're doing Great. 🙌🏾 Dena, your painting and your pillows are Beautiful, you are Truly gifted. 😍Again, I am Glad that your video showed up in my feed, and I am now a new Subscriber to your channel. Lord willing, until next time. 🙏🏾 Love In Christ, Paula.
I absolutely love the fabric, you selected for the cushion. However, as someone who also likes making cushions, I would personally advise making the cushion cover about an inch smaller than the actual cushion insert. This will make your cushion more puffy and lush.
Thanks for the tips!
Please tell me what paint you are using if they acrylics and the brand please! I have beat breast cancer twice and I’m 76 years old so don’t ever give up keep praying and God will bless you by being cancer free!
Thank you so much and God's blessing of health for you as well! The paint is acrylics from Hobby Lobby and the brand is "Liquid Acrylic" :) All the best!
I love those pillows ,so gorgeous!!! You are so inspiring.Thank you!
Beautiful painting! And love the pillow covers!❤ so talented!
Thank you so much!
Just came across your video today.......the pillow covers you made are gorgeous and your painting is BEAUTIFUL!!❤

Thank you! I was super nervous to give it a go, but so glad I tried it anyway! Thank you for watching! I appreciate the support!
I’m glad your channel came up in my feed. I hope the Lord heals you from your cancer. I wouldn’t try making those pillows, but I would definitely buy them! They are beautiful and I love them!
Thank you for all your kind words! Blessings to you!
I’m very happy to hear you’re cancer free🙏🏼 I’m a new subscriber 💜
Just discovered your channel! Very excited to follow you on your journey. Are you able to tell me where you purchased the fabric for the pillow covers?
Hi and welcome! Thank you for following along! Yes, absolutely, I have the details and fabric information all on my blog...fletchercreekcottage.com
Bless your heart. Glad you are cancer free . 🙏 xx
❤Thank you!
Beautiful painting and pillow! Talented lady. I love your channel. Glad you are back and feeling well. I live down here in Lansing now, but I am originally from northeast Michigan. (Alpena).
Thank you so much, you're so kind! It's always fun to "meet" another Michigander:)This fall has been amazing, I hope you've been getting the warm fall weather over in Lansing too?!
So glad to see you back and you look so beautiful ❤ I pray you have a clean recovery. As a 3-time survivor those milestones of 1 year clean are so important and it's taught me live every day as if it were your last. Life is so much prettier when we are grateful for those little moments. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing that. You're so right...every single day is a gift and trials and hardships make the small moments so much more beautiful! I am sorry to hear about your health struggles and yes, those milestones are HUGE! I am very much looking forward to 1 year in the clear! Wishing you all the best moving forward!
@FletcherCreekCottage ❤️
I am so happy to hear you are healthy and in a good mood. welcome back
😊Thank you very much!
Thank God you are healing & feeling well 🙏 The fabric for the pillows is gorgeous, I was wondering where you bought it. It would make beautiful drapes as well. Your painting is soooo pretty, with the gold frame it really looks professional. Good to see you, your videos have been missed ❤😊
Thank you so much! I am so happy to be back and yes, God is so good! Oh, that's a great idea, the fabric would be really pretty as drapes! I purchased the fabric from Fabric Guru and it's called "Thibaut Rye F93337 Printed Cotton Drapery Fabric in Tan". Thank you for the kind words on the painting...it's a lot of fun to just try something new!
So very happy to see you back, not sure what I missed but I’ll be sure to check any of them out. So very sorry to hear about your health issues, you look great and so very happy to see you are on the mend and taking the slow and steady pace. Again welcome back, so anxious to see the home build progress 💕🍁🌻🍁💕
I am thrilled to be back and thank you so much for the support and your kindness! You're so sweet! I look forward to sharing a massive update on our home build soon!!! Stay Tuned!
So, how did u make the LG pumpkin ? Do u make a circle to start with???
Yes, I folded the back of the sweater up and trimmed off the extra after I gathered it together at the top (and after I filled it). Hope that helps!
Hi I’d love to know about the staple gun you’re using!
www.amazon.com/shop/fletchercreekcottage/list/21MN2NLHTSD1O?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d
Click the link in the bio to my amazon storefront and I have the exact staplegun listed under DIY Upholstery Tools :) Hope that helps!
Brilliant work. Instructions are top notch. What screws are used to tie windows and what are they holding against?
Where did you purchase the fabric?
This is from KOVI Fabric -www.kovifabrics.com/search/product-detail/4674

Are you cleaning the stencil every time you take it off?
Hi there! What type of hooks did you use to hang your curtains?
great video very informative i just have two questions, why do you have to wash the fabric first? and why did you count along 5 spaces when inserting the hooks
This has me excited to try these out for our new home!! Thanks for sharing!
OMG THEY HAVE A FLOWER ROOM. id die. Seriously. Id be in Heaven. And you know they had a greenhouse or solarium originally im sure
Wow the carved crown molding is spectacular. It absolutely just breaks my heart all the architecture and old 1800s homes in detroit that are rotting and have rotted to the ground.
Oh man i love architectural salvage places. Almost got a job working w a man who goes in to demolish or remove pieces prior to their destruction. I got some of the coolest things from him just by stopping to check out the old 1800s house he was working on in my town i used to live in.... he let me take an amazing double basin oorcelain kitchen sink with the slats for a drain on the side, and a bunch of antiques out of the house. Wish i would have pursued the job. He said he had been given an old house someone was gonna demolish so he just moved it and now he sticks all the things he gets from other cleanout jobs in it. Killed me when i lost his number
So beautiful and such quality work, as usual! I'm sure you are excited to see them in place in your new home.
Yes, thank you...I sure am!
Awesome job on quite a project! They turned out beautiful!!
Thanks a bunch!
This my favorite RUclips channel. Keep up the great work❤
Wow, thanks!
Awesome work, I have two chairs that I will start upholstering too this spring and I can’t wait to use you methods. Thank you so much, I really don’t want to spend $950 get them done by a pro plus I have to by the fabric too.
Thank you so much! Glad it was helpful!
How tall did you do the walls?
Great job on this project!
I don’t think I’ve ever loved anyone more! Omg! ❤ I’ve got to try that. If the drapes had a liner, one could basically follow this too? Big savings for sure! 👍
How long did you wait for concrete to cure?
Ttm
