This channel will (from July 2022) contain videos of mostly relating to peregrine falcons and other birds of prey, amongst others. Most videos of the peregrine family living in the water tower at Charles Sturt University will now be uploaded to the CSU FalconCam Project site, which will also lead you to the four livestreams.

Jedda gets wet and muddy on her first walk
I picked up a new rescue dog (black german shepherd, five years old) yesterday and today we went for long walk on the property, refreshed by a dip in the rather muddy dam! I'm calling her Jedda (after the indigenous woman in the 1955 film of the same name). Thanks to the NSW German Shepherd Rescue team for the adoption and advice on training.

First Feed for peregrine nestlings at Montreal

These nestlings are very young and Dad (Monsieur) brings a large prey, possibly a pigeon) for the youngsters' first feed. There are two nestings, one about 8.5 and the other just 1.5 hours old. There area also two eggs, and in one you can see the third chick trying to break out (at the time of writing, this one has since hatched). Brother falcon brings prey to youngsters in Madrid

First we see Eve incubating...then there is a changeover without prey and Monsieur tries to settle on the eggs. Now male peregrines are 15-20% smaller than their female mates and their eggs are quite big, so quite a challenge...but he he gets there.

The University of Montreal has a wonderful new camera and they are fortunate that the 'accouplements' , as they are known there, happen quite close to the nest and the cam, so they get an excellent view. It was very brief, so may not have actually been successful in this case.

Marri, juvenile peregrine, six weeks since fledging, chases her Dad around on Christmas morning, then we see her up on the tower at sunset Music is a Latin medley: Bar Tropical (John Zaradin) and One Note Samba (Antonio Carlos Jobim) played rather clunkily by myself.
Introducing Theo, rescue dog

A week ago, I adopted a german shepherd from the RSPCA. He was called Geoff and is nearly nine years old and was seized from his owner as he had been starved. I have renamed him Theo. As you can see he is quite lively for a senior shepherd with arthritis and hip dysplasia. He gets on well with Domino. He's on two week trial, but he'll be staying!

Diamond lays her second egg after a 59 hour laying interval (average is 61 hours here)....she incubates for a short time, then Xavier arrives with (yet another) starling and she must be hungry as she leaves the eggs in Xavier's care and take off.

A peregrine nest box in a power station west of Edmonton. If you thought our nest box was small, check this one out with four large youngsters. Watch to the end for some hilarious synchronous neck craning as an adult passes.

The young nestling is being fed by its father (Monsieur) when Mum (Eve) arrives with a bigger, better prey. There is a bit of a Mexican stand-off after which M. leaves with his prey. Note the youngster is 31 days old and has a deformity of the wings, so there is some uncertainty as to whether it will be able to fly properly. Thanks Cilla for the video...on another occasion the older brother feeds them for a few minutes, and it was so sweet to see that for me, I couldn't stop thinking about Izzi if he had stayed longer. ❤️🤗

What an amazing situation!!! There seems to be quite a few nests with 4 chicks this year, would love to see Diamond and Xavier with at least 3 :)
For some reason, this nest has never produced more than three, and Xavier never more than two hatched.
You think it’s tough now with that many wait ‘till they’re all screaming at you for food 😂

@@cillakinross3875 After looking at some other footage of a flying stick insect, I think that's what it could be.
Omg I kept coming back to (I think same) Tropidoderus childrenii which says children’s stick bug. I’ve watch all kinds of videos of bats before she said not a bat. 🤣 then on to bugs and kept coming back to this one.
