if anyone's getting prompted for a password before accessing the command prompt, and you don't know the password, I navigated back and clicked forgot password, which brought me to a screen with a restart button. I clicked it and once it was restarted it was back to normal and I was able to input my PIN and login. I don't know if that's a permanent solution at all but it got me in without needing to do the cmd stuff
