    I forget the exact year but my first vehicle at 16 years old was a +/- 1990/91(maybe even an 88/89 idk) Dodge Ram conversion van. It was grey with _pink_ interior, lol. It even had pink curtains! The two rear bench seats folded down into a "bed." I bought that because I was in an indie rock band so I got the van and an enclosed trailer to haul our gear for gigs. It was a truly _great_ vehicle that was incredibly reliable. I drove it everywhere. Hard miles too. On top of it being my daily driver, towing a full trailer to all our gigs, I also drove it back and forth from S.E. Mass, (New Bedford/Fairhaven harbor area) out to the Cape (Hyannis/Yarmouth) because my girlfriend at the time lived out there. And we would take that thing on regular trips to Boston, Providence, P-Town, Newport, back to the cape and back to the South Coast. Many days we'd just randomly cruise the back roads of the Cape. It never gave my any issues, only needed regular maintenance. Looking back that van was a central part of some of the best times and memories of my life (I'm almost 40 now). I still dont remember why in the world I sold it. It needed some kind of larger but not outrageous repair _I think._ I let it go for like $850. The guy who bought it did the fix and it was every bit as reliable for him as it was for me. I always regretted it. Outside of that van and the '02 Tahoe I drive now, I never had any luck with vehicles. Seems like every vehicle in between those two had all kinds of major and inevitability fatal flaws. I'm sure the extension came out great. It already looked good here. Can tell it's solid work. Best of luck.

  • @AnodyneHipsterInfluencer
    @AnodyneHipsterInfluencer Год назад

    Thanks for sharing. I've got the _identical_ situation you dealt with here a few years ago. I've currently also got an '02 Tahoe. New copper brake lines, love the truck, typical maintenance. Starting to get some body rot and I could use new bumpers, especially on the back. Anyway I've gotta do this same repair so thanks again. It's nice to get a look at what I'm getting myself into and what to expect. I'd like to get her to 250k+ if possible. 🤞🏻

    Awesome work. I'm wondering if you had considered removing the bed from the truck to get at it any easier. I've been thinking about working on my own ford ranger and have seen where others remove the beds from them considerably easier than i would have imagined, given he right hoists and straps were available. Seems like maybe only a dozen or two connections to undo. I personally work on remodeling houses mostly and am constantly on the fence whether to take things apart or fix in place. Just wondering what your thought process is when it comes to the disassembly options. Again, great work, and content as well.

    • @ctadventurist

      Thanks for the comment. If it was my personal vehicle I would have considered but this was for a customer on a budget, his truck rolled down the driveway and hit other car. Also unfortunately we are in CT where rust is a serious issue. This truck was very clean but typically the bolts are rusted in and break, you have to drill them all out. Not worth it. My customer would never pay that amount of money as the truck was maybe worth 4k and that repair would have been $2500 for me to do.

    Thank you for the effort and time put into creating this video....but I need to offer the following constructive criticism: this tutorial really is half-baked at best. It offers no project setup or visual intro to the tools being used--where to get them and how we will be using them. How do you obtain access to the dents since they're clearly in a challenging location. Beyond that it offers no visuals showing the tools in practice (what hand movements will achieve the "erratic pushing" that is crucial to achieving this perfect repair?) We need to SEE what to do to replicate the final product, NOT what the final result will look like. Its like handing someone a cake and saying "go make this". So essentially this "tutorial" is is really a voiceover that relies on the viewers imagination because lets face it--the visuals are redundant and surely dont offer anything in terms of teaching how to do this. It's like watching a time lapse of a tree growing...you don't gain an actual understanding of how the tree is growing, you're just watching it as it grows. Sorry for being so critical...but yeah I'd like the 36:46 of my life back.

      Thanks for the comment, where is your video showing paintless dent repair? I didn't see any on your channel.
