Hello Avery Thor 2331! Yes, it was indeed a design choice for us to opt for a loft with large bookshelves and a workspace. However, if we remove these spaces, we can certainly create a bathroom there! Thank you for your comment.

Hello Bill, Thank you very much for your comment. I'm glad you liked the house. The entire roof is insulated. Since this house doesn't have a ceiling, it's very important that the whole roof is insulated to help control the temperature inside the house.

@@BigTinyHouses I had a design done for me, about 7 years ago with a full sized tree contained in the house and I'd given it a lot of thought. I concluded that it would create too much cleaning up, attract insects and add moisture to the house. Since then, I have only ever thought about certain smaller indoor plants. If we used this design, we would have to have the option with the garage facing the road. And...because of our tight spot, the house would have to reduce from 10M to about 8.5. Possibly 9. I might download your detailed designs of this house and have a really good think about it, because we have a section of land in a central town location and have been spending a long time, working out exactly how to best utilize it. Ideally I want to build a townhouse of some sort and three floors. The Japanese garage house is definitely an option, but building costs in NZ have gone sky high. Around $5000 per sqm or more.

In a compact house like this, having a double-height or larger ceiling gives the impression of spaciousness, making the house feel even larger than it is. I'm glad to hear that there are many aspects of the design that you like. Your suggestions about tweaking the design are valuable, and I'll definitely take them into consideration for the next one. @@BigTinyHouses That's great. I emailed you actually, regarding our proposed project in New Zealand. I also noticed that on your website, there was no option to download the detailed drawings of this A Frame House. As you would know, there are a lot of variations and ways you could play about with this design. All sorts of angles and dimensions could be tweaked. I thought that rather than the highest point of the house narrowing to a single point, that it could narrow only to 1M, which means more light allowed in. I also thought about a single pitched roof from back to front, avoiding the flat section and the large roof windows. You could basically just add a few velux windows into the roof. Yes definitely the void adds space and it's a very difficult balance to get a combination of the feeling of space and the functional use of space. There's one other thing that I think would be amazing: An indoor climbing wall up the void. I'm an ex industrial abseiler, so that was always going to be something on my mind. It really would be an amazing feature though.

Hello @orestesh6931, House construction costs are dependent on where the house is built, the level of finish (tile, trim, window quality, etc...) and the site. We advise you to show the video of the project to a local builder. He will be able to provide you with an estimate of the cost to build.
