Evening Magazine promo - WBZ-TV4 Boston 1990
The last major promotional spot for Evening Magazine at WBZ-TV which I co-produced in 1990. Features a custom theme song written by Livingston Taylor and cameo appearances from; Julia Child, Mayor Ray Flynn, Gene Shalit, Jody Reed of the Red Sox, the New Kids on the Block, Rick and Dick Hoyt along with hosts Sara Edwards, Jim Watkins and Bill Costa. And if you look very fast near the end... my Mom! Sadly, just weeks after this promo premiered, the long-running "Evening" was cancelled.

Astuter Computer Revue 1982

Apparently, the ONLY known video (fan-shot) of this long extinct attraction at Epcot. I shot this video on early home equipment during the opening days of Epcot in October of 1982. Sony hadn't even released the first camcorder yet, so this was primitive equipment and didn't yield the quality we expect today. But if you saw this kitschy show, this will bring back a lot of fond memories. It's bee...

Spooky World - National Press Reel from 1994
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.11 лет назад
A montage of some of the national TV coverage I obtained when I was the VP/GM of Spooky World - America's Horror Theme Park! We turned a simple haunted hayride into the premier "haunted theme park" in America. We opened a second one in Minnesota and had a third under construction in Dallas... when the lure of television called me back. #spooktacular
They should've seen this promo to stations that carried Evening Magazine (and PM Magazine) had stayed onward like the one in San Francisco at 1:01 (as Denny Delk): Weeknights at 7:30 on Channel 5
The offices for the World Key Information Service were right above the computers behind the glass. There was a double-door to the left which we passed through and then there was another set of doors that led to the computer room, and an elevator on the left that took us upstairs to World Key. Another I.T. (Information Services) department was also there called "Scientific Systems."
Spooky world was cool, went there decades ago and met Tiny Tim and a guy who played Jason from Friday the 13th, who was much shorter than I would have guessed. As mentioned Tiny Tim was a gentleman, such a nice guy. My mom was a big fan of his and got an autographed picture for her. Thanks for this video, brings back memories!
This comment reminds me of when I first came across Tim, you talk about the other guy being short. I was amazed at how tall Tiny was 😅
When I was a kid in the 90s my dad worked at spooky world. I was able to meet him and he was really nice. It was an awesome place, I got to meet a lot of horror celebrities. Although I never understood why he was there.
For the record, Spooky World was a bit of a hike from Boston. It was out in the country, in the woods, which could be downright creepy on a foggy night in October. I just wish it was still in business because it was a really great place to go during the Halloween season.
It’s located in NH now
@@skyisthelimit3255 Yeah, but it's not the same as the original.
Thanks so much. I saw that back in 81-82 and would tell friends about it, cause they never saw it. Thank you again. ❤
The Regis and Kelly show with Linda Blair was from October 29th 1993
It seems the first few minutes are missing but I don't mind.
The song is giving Jolly Holiday vibes! IK they are both by the same writers (the Sherman Brothers) so that makes sense
How cool!
happy 67th birthday thomas raymond bergeron !!!
It was! I appear on the left at about 23 seconds in...
I just picked up a 1994 Tiny Tim wedding tee at Spooky World and now im here
Are you interested in selling it! I’m trying to find a shirt!!
I've never met tiny Tim but what I've heard he was a very polite amazing man r.i.p tiny Tim
They made this because humanity just came out of judgment day and the war with the machines. Nobody trusted computers so this was made to assure everybody. Ironically, personal computers became the new hot item. So even came with keyboards and speakers!
Used to watch on Saturday Mornings afternoon the cartoons. On Channel 4, WBZ, Boston, Massachusetts. Back when it was an NBC affiliate.
Right after Saturday Morning Cartoons on Channel 4, Boston, WBZ. When it was an NBC affiliate. Great times. Used to watch this before the Creature Double Feature
I have to ask, how the hell did you find this footage?
mass gets its freak on
This song by the Sherman Brothers was originally in the 1964 New York World's Fair. Here Walt Disney is singing it with the Sherman Brothers. It's called "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" and is the them song of the Carousel of Progress. With Brandon in office, they need to update the Carousel of Progress to be the "6uild 6ack 6etter Destiny of Doom" ruclips.net/video/Y0lebcX6Fm0/видео.html The song should be renamed for Biden.. as the "Ass Tooter Revue"
Who was the singer?
I worked there so long ago!
Loved this show. Thanks for the video.
Egg animatronic who is dancing with from a ride named kitchen Cafe who was replaced in 1994 by food Rock in 2004 it was replaced by Sharon the ride I hate today
Yes Thanks to Offhand Disney for pointing me to your video.👍
I remember this show… it was an impressive server room!
I saw Tiny at SpookyWorld several times. He also played a couple concerts in the Boston area in the mid 90’s,. The last time I saw him was just months before he died. Tiny was dedicated to his craft and whatever you thought of him you were completely blown away upon seeing him in person. I was too young to see him in his prime but getting to see him and speak to him one on one was an experience I will always cherish!! Thanks for the entertainment and most definitely Thanks for the memories!! R.I.P. Tiny Tim
I so remember watching this during our Easter Vacation Epcot trip of 83! Thank you so much for posting this was a REAL BLAST from the past.. I remember it was near where Guest Relations is near SpaceShip Earth. Another Great Sherman Brothers Song!
Did you get to ride Spaceship Earth? 🚀 🌎
Linked from Offhand... The value to Disney history that this video exists is priceless.
Lou from WDW has mentioned this attraction several times over the years, glad to finally see what it actually looked like lol
"That's why I'm a rooter, for the computer-- everybody needs a friend!!!" Whoa. That line is more relevant today than EVER, lol!
And the song’s pretty catchy, too
This reminds me of the dino DNA skit from the beginning of Jurrasic Park.
I used to really enjoy this show and the pre show area with the beaver that helped you design a roller coaster ride (“gee, that’s swell”) and the AT&T map showing how calls were rerouted across the country.
I used to know every single word of that song. I used to listen to it over and over again.
I saw this in person with my parents on our first trip to WDW Epcot Center. It was a standing type of exhibit/attraction. Thank you so much for filming this!
Would be cool to see more projected shows like this. Seems like they underutilized the trick from Haunted mansion and would have loved to see more stuff like this
Thumbs up if you’re here from Offhand Disney!
Shoutout to Offhand Disney
Thanks to Offhand Disney, this videos viewcount is going to skyrocket! 😁 🚀
Yup. Came here right when it was mentioned. I'm a huge Disney fan and never knew of this attraction. Thanks for the upload!!
Offhand Disney is outstanding
He's awesome!
P.S. Good job on the production. That was a fun day and a catchy commercial.
That's Jody Reed not Trot Nixon. Trot Nixon wasn't drafted until 1993. Source: I'm the kid whose lap he lands in.
You"re RIGHT! Completely forgot his name! THANKS! Hey, it's only been 30 years. I probably still have the release form your parents signed in a file somewhere!
Yikes.
Evening Magazine will forever be remembered.
One of the great locally franchised TV shows. Whether the Group W Evening Magazine or the Sydicated PM one.
Wow I was positive that at the end he was going to say Hail Hydra. This looks straight out of the MCU and the Winter Soldier. This is so cool, thank you for uploading this!
If it were made today, yeah. Disney is all about IP milking. They don't like that Universal beat them to the punch with WW of Harry Potter and soon to be Nintendo Land. 😂👍 _Hail Hydra_
I love Astuter Computer Revue so much! I can’t thank you enough for uploading this!!!
- I have this show on VHS. One of these days.... hoping to find a way to transfer to a digital version for upload.
I think there are some companies that do that.
Costco converts vhs to digital. Affordable
@@debbabe2254 - Thank you Deb. Unfortunately I live in an area where there are no Costco's.
@@usascorpio just get a cheap video capture card with an S-Video input (S-Video would be the highest resolution for a VHS player) Install the software , plug in the VHS player, play the tape and hit the record button. If you need some help just respond here.
I think Walgreens does VHS transfer.
I remember this, but I also remember one with some lady. It took me hours to find this. I searched for Sperry Epcot and found this! Thanks for sharing!!
That second version was with the characters Julie and IO. I miss EPCOT Center!
Early the Pearly was played by Ken Jennings fresh off his run as Tobias in the Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Do you have any more footage of the park during your press preview?
This footage is amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing! I don’t think I ever got to see this in person - I only had a copy of the song from my sister’s record. This is a true gem. It’s an overdone phrase, but not all heroes wear capes. Unless maybe you do. :)
In '91, my college professor took our tv prod class to see Adam West and Butch Patrick at WBZ Boston, an NBC affiliate. Tom Bergeron had a talk show at the time. Al Lewis was brought in by telephone over the studio speakers. It was a very funny half hour. Really learned a lot about what it was like on the Batman and Munsters sets. Adam West signed autographs outside the studio, very gracious. I never saw Butch Patrick after the show. I assume his car got there before we got outside. Would have been cool to get his autograph. I wish this footage was available.
