Nearly 20 years since he performed this song in 2005 at the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London and nobody since has bettered his performance. 6,000 people in the audience stunned by his beautiful voice. Simply beautiful.
Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet; She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet. She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree; But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree. In a field by the river my love and I did stand, And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand. She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs; But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.
Makes a song which has a sting in the tail into easy listening for softies. The harmonisation in Britten's arrangement, with the sudden aching bitter-sweet disonant pang, capture the Yeat's words so far better
Orchestration much too heavy for what is a very sad, moving song about how defeat can be snatched from the jaws of victory. All it needed was Andreas and a pianist to make a reference performance of a moving song.
Never heard the likes of this work, geniuses all, gifted all, harmonising flawlessly, these humans may just give hope that we are worthy of redemption for all our wrong doing.
Superbe! De loin la meilleure interprétation d'une sonate de Scarlatti que j'aie jamais entendu à la harpe! Pourquoi n'en fait il pas un enregistrement plus complet??
I wish he would do some celtic music and branch out away from the classical music. I hope he does something different in the future, some celtic music is just as lovely as classical music. Sorry if I offended any snobs.
who cares about the ornamentation, it was lovely. darn, you must understand he is a master at the harp. he can do anything he pleases and it would be beautiful. get over it!! geeze!!!
An ornament ceases to function in its intended purpose, if that purpose is not understood and preserved in performance. Then it becomes meaningless decoration.
Thank you

Eine unfassbar schöne Aufnahme mit einer großartigen Stimme. Mehr davon...
Seen on the street he could easily pass for a scaffolder at the studio microphone he is a gifted and celebrated songster.
Wonderful interpretation !! BRAVO 👋Thank you for sharing ! Himmlisch 🌞☀👋

As beautiful as this is, I agree that Britten's arrangement is far more poignant--and true to life.

Performance at 2005 Proms last night also wonderful. Sad that RUclips video has been removed. I being young and foolish am now full of tears.

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, CD Wayfaring Stranger, arr. C. Leon
Superb rendition but perhaps a little to much orchestration.
Juste parfait!

His voice is so pure and beautiful
Is it the singer the song, God knows it’s brilliant anyway........
Do you have the other movements on video? I searched on the internet but I can’t find anything about this

Just Amazing. That VOICE is for the ages...!!
the voice of the century, I guess. ♥
I bought the song from iTunes. It is ready to help me calm down, if needed. Amazing Andreas !!!

Really beautiful!
amazing!!! a mellow counter tenor voice!!
I thought it was a soprano!!!
Immense talent
Lovely performance!
Scarlatti swings! Superbe.
Das ist die Sarabande aus der h-moll-Partita.
C'est magnifique...
Young cellists like the clear tone of Mork - I was a bit surprised hearing, that Jacqueline de Pre was thought to have played not that clear.
I always fell so much better for hearing Andreas sing.

Using the term 'snobs' is offensive. You assume anyone who enjoys classical music to be a snob. I'm sorry if I offended any celtic drunkards.

Wonderful!!! Bellissimo!!!
He has a great tone of voice and the whole arrangement is beautiful.

I like the way he puts more into the last line than in the recorded version.
I love the way the guitarist is pretending he's not bad-ass.
time only made more beautiful sonata greatViktoria Mullova!!!!!
Beautiful performance.
this is not d minor partita!
