    What I like is that I don’t really need to fill a supper with 10 frames of those and I can check to see that they are full unlike the half hog that I can’t really see if it totally full

      Nice! I did not think about that. Each frame can be checked on each side to see if it is full. I guess when one frame is full it could be removed and another put in its place. Thanks for watching. God bless and have a great day.

    I would agree that the bees might appreciate these brood chambers more based on the design. However, inspecting a full frame that large would be a challenge that most might consider to be too difficult. I’m also concerned with the poly formulation and whether or not the bees and ants can easily chew it like some styrofoams on the market.

    @5:29 you notice their secret entrance... I had to comment about that. I get a lot of these. I know some people think the bees make some of them. But sometimes they happen because we're making our own beehives. Like I don't have a good saw like a table saw so its very hard for me to get the cuts really perfectly straight on my bee boxes. And that makes it almost impossible to not have some of these show up. Its frustrating. But to get a really good saw now is like a lot of money. I don't mind and I do like making my own bee boxes. But its just so hard to get the cuts perfect when your saw isn't really the right 1 for it.

    • @adventuresinbeekeeping7590
      @adventuresinbeekeeping7590 2 месяца назад

      Yes I agree, A smaller entrance in the winter is important. It reduces air flow and can prevent entrance of other animals seeking shelter. However, not many beekeepers actually use the winter side of the bottom board. If you have more than just a few colonies, it can be a lot of work to move all of the boxes from the bottom board in order to turn it over. Most use another beekeeping tool called an entrance reducer, which fits into the opening of the 3/4 inch side and makes the entrance much smaller. Thanks for watching. God bless and have a great day.

      Most of mine right now goes to family, friends and neighbors. I gave them the first jar free and they have been looking for more. As a member of the Kentucky State Beekeepers Association I am able to sell some at the state fair. I have friends that sell a lot at the weekend farmers market. As far as your wife is concerned, most of my bees have been gentle, however I have had a couple colonies of mean bees. Good news for me my has not yet been stung. Beekeeping is a lot of fun and WORK. Hope you make the right decision. God bless and thanks for watching.

    What temp is your water? And what should the % be on the brix?

      That day I was using tap water, so probably in the 60’s F. Warmer water would reduce the stirring time to get the sugar to dissolve. That is a good question about the Brix %. I have never checked it with my refractometer. I should do that sometime. Let me know what you discover. Thanks for watching. Hope you and your bees are doing well.

      @adventuresinbeekeeping7590 a 2:1 should be 63%. Thank you for the good video

    The close ups of the eggs is so good to see. I've never seen that up close before!

    I just temporarily clamp a stop block to the fence and but each piece against it so that when I cut them they all always come out the same length.
