Camping with a CPAP Using a Portable Power Station
If you have sleep apnea, going camping doesn’t have to mean foregoing treatment. With a portable power station, you can use your CPAP machine for multiple nights outdoors.

Mount Rainier - Palisades Lakes

Starting out at Sunrise Point, we hiked in 3.7 miles to Upper Palisades Lake. This is awesome, so helpful. It totally gave me the layout I need to get out and explore with the vehicle I have now. Thanks for the video ! I am looking for drop pins online and I can’t seem to find any that I think are the same that you’re referring to. Basically, are they like long bolts that just “drop” in but do not get screwed in, so they can be taken in and out easily? And is there another term I can use to search them? Apologies for being stumped by this lol. Any advice would be appreciated.
They are long bolts that don't get screwed in. I went to the hardware store and looked for something that had a flat top. Mine are just under 3" long and have a hex top but it's a wide flat top, unlike other bolts. These are very close to what I have, just a bit longer: www.walmart.com/ip/1-4-20-x-3-15-Steel-Bronze-Coarse-Thread-Joint-Connector-Bolts-6-pcs/700132047 Here is another that is closer to what mine are like: cshardware.com/16-bb1420080-05

Can a 6.2 feet person fit comfortably in your bed? Wish you could of talked about height or just busted kut a tape measure to show how long the bed is and how tall can a person fit. Very few people do that. Inwas considering getting CR-V 2010- 2013 and wonder if my 6.2 body would get to sleep comfortably there like you have it or wound need to sleep like across more in an angle from one side to other side
My Honda is a 2007, so it's a bit smaller inside than newer models. The top board on my bed platform is 25" x 72". I'm 5'1", so I have plenty of space, but getting in and out of the bed is a tight fit, and I can't sit up on the bed without bending my head forward. At 6'2", I think it would be a very tight fit for you and you would likely need to be angled... but I'm not sure how much length is gain in newer CR-Vs.
Great 😊...How long r the legs that hold it up???
The support legs are all made from 2x4 pieces of lumber: 6 - legs for the back and middle of the platform: 12.75" long 2 - legs for the front of the platform: 21" long I have a separate video that show how I built the bed platform: ruclips.net/video/mST08Ski1Do/видео.htmlsi=DtjQio42FV6LEKvv
Very helpful. Thank you!
Do the rear seats come out?
@@offdaystv They can be removed but it’s definitely too much of a hassle for me to do, plus I’d have no place to store the seats, so I leave them in.
@@iheartpacificnorthwest thank you 🙏 that’s what I needed to know
Awesome set up! Where did you find those window covers ?
Thanks! Since my Honda is older, I only found one company that carried the window coverings for it: HeatShield bit.ly/47bUAIs
Thaks for sharing all the information! Your car looks so cozy to be in )
Thanks!
I have a 2014 Honda CRV. I've tried this and it's not long enough for me to stretch out. I'm 5'4". I've seen this done on several videos so I tried it, but not long enough. I don't know how people fit.
My bed platform is 6 ft. long and I'm 5'1" so there's plenty of room for me to stretch out on it. In order to make room for the platform, I move the front passenger seat forward. It is a bit tight to get in and out of the bed due to how high the platform has to sit, but it works.
@@iheartpacificnorthwest Oh I move the front passenger seat all the way forward. Your platform must be going over top of the front seat in order to get 6 ft of length. What kind of vehicle do you have? There's no way you can get 6 ft of length that way in a Honda CRV. No way.
@@Judy-fi7ce You can see in my video where the platform goes. It does not go over the front seat, it is 6 ft long, and it does fit. My CR-V is a 2007 so maybe there's a size difference?
@@LisaDHolmes - I don't know if there's a size difference. I wouldn't think they'd make a newer model smaller. All I can say is, there's no way I can get 6 ft of length. Not even enough for me at 5'4". I've tried. I guess it will remain a mystery.
So nice..congrats .❤
What type of hinges did you use?
National Hardware 3" Surface-Mount Hinges: amzn.to/3yvxAZa
This is great!
After watching this video 1000 times and a few trips to Home Depot, I finally made this platform for my 08 CRV!! I’m going to be doing a “van life” conversion for my car and this is going to be my platform full time! Worked out great and easy to follow. I had a bit of a hard time finding a drill bit big enough for my drop pins so in the end I just used long, thick wood screws as the drop pins, will be searching for a sturdier drop pin in the meanwhile.
I'm glad the video was helpful! Have a great time on your van life adventures!
2010 CRV here, thanks!
I love your set up! How do I see the list of items use?
@@debraoneil563 Thanks! Here is the list of gear I use in my setup: www.iheartpacificnorthwest.com/blog_post/my-honda-crv-camper-setup/
I love your set up and very impressed that you built your bed system on your own. I drive a 2017 Toyota RAV and I go weekend camping with my Shih Tzu dog here in Ontario. I have asked a carpenter friend to build my bed frame. How long do you go when you go cold camping and do you stay in camp sites or go so stealth camping? Thanks!
Thanks! When I'm camping in my car in cold weather, I stay at campgrounds, usually at the Oregon Coast. I have a video that shows how I built my bed platform. It's a very simple build since I don't have any skills with this type of stuff. ruclips.net/video/mST08Ski1Do/видео.htmlsi=ZURframxOWp2-zT5
Your an answer to my prayers on how to camp in my 2010 CR-V. Thanks so much
My I ask how long your bed is, I am trying to figure out if a CRV would work for my car camping needs. But I can't get exact dimentions on the length of any car with the seats folded down. Its only ever reported in cubic feet which is kinda useless for what I am trying to figure out.
The bed platform I built is 72" long, and my CR-V is a 2007 model. The interior is slightly larger in newer models. This video shows how I built the bed platform and includes all dimensions: ruclips.net/video/mST08Ski1Do/видео.htmlsi=1uN_35GiUlq1qQZP
So good! Camper life can be very easy!
Noooo! Stake the windward (upwind) end out first.
Will this same one fit in a 1998 crv?
I'm not sure, but you can measure the space for the platform by moving the front passenger seat all the way forward, then see if you have clearance from front to back for a 72" platform and are able to shut the back hatch.

Amazing contrntt, keep up the good job
This looks like exactly what I need! What is the name of the big board? I’m not sure what to get. I’d love if you shared the equipment and specs! Thanks!
Thanks! I just updated the video description with the specs for the platform pieces, and included a link to a similar platform board (called "hardwood project panel") available at Lowe's.
nobody talks about the fact you can never get a dynemma tent, taught and tight.. there is always a baggy saggy door or side pannel somewhere.
I also have a CRV that I have camped in. I like your bed platform better than mind. I just cut the board in half rather than thirds, and it doesn't really fold like I thought it would while in the car ... too high. Also I like your drop pin approach. My 2013 CRV that I camped in was totaled a few months back and yesterday I bought a 2014 CRV (like a reincarnation), and plan to dust off the camping gear in a few months and try it out again. Thank you for your helpful video!
Thank you, and good luck with your rebuild!
I have one it's like an Italian sports car needing constant tuning and honestly is a bummer setting up in heavy wind but that's just my opinion 😊
I've never had to set it up in high wind 😬. I find that it's fairly fast to setup but I've been using it for five years so have lots of practice.
Interesting you needed to point the same thing out in two different videos.
