As an admitted passenger princess, I've noticed cars becoming increasingly interchangeable. Most of the time when sitting inside one, I couldn't tell you what car I was in if it wasn't for the massive logo on the steering wheel. Everything feels all plasticky and everyone's going for the same dark grey minimalism. Even on the outside, I don't usually feel particularly wowed by most modern cars. I know it's cliche, but most cars seem to be lacking a certain soul - a sense that a human with a vision was involved somewhere along the way. Any rough edges and uniqueness are smoothed off in service of "the brand". It's boring. I can also imagine that for a gearhead like Jeremy, it must be shit how much of the car is just controlled by computers nowadays, and how much harder it is to mod or fix things yourself. On Top Gear, it was always the cars that they had to really work with that they seemed to build the strongest connections with. I guess it's kind of weird that the better cars get, the less we care about them, but when everything becomes too seamless, it just becomes part of the scenery - you don't care about it or notice it any more.

Capitalism is just a system of extreme waste. Replacment is incentivized as repairs get more expensive as an automobile aged and needs more crucial components repaired or replaced. We literally are conditioned through subliminal advertising to buy things we don’t need and most of these things end up in a landfill or recycling center soon after purchase. Cars and homes being the exception those are kept longer but now even automobiles are made to be obsolete within a decade and the only people driving old cars do so out of necessity. So these automobile manufacturers are literally making products that are not needed and many won’t sell. Except Toyota and Honda because of the high reliability of those products.

I have a 2011 RAM 🐏 1500 Outdoorsman I like the HEMI's power, sound and, well it's got shorty headers, intake and Flowmaster super 10 ect. 400+++ torque and hp but at 267,000 kl's the cam and lifters left the building, not to mention warping manifolds. So, hopefully this new hurricane engine is reliable, it definitely has lost the panache and feel of a manly 💪V8 I'll never switch to anything electric or ttv6
