Skid Steer Rotary Brush Mower Demolishing a Brush Pile
Просмотров 13 тыс.13 лет назад
Chipper LLC Tree Service using our Skid Steer Rotary Mower to clean up some land. It had lots of brush piles that were pushed up with a dozer several years ago. They have become overgrown with brush, vines and briars. The brush itself has become soft and brittle. Watch how much the mower reduces the size of the piles. It even chews up large stumps as they have partial rotted. In about 30 minute...

Chipper LLC Tree Service using our Skid Steer mounted Rotary Brush Mower to clear some pine sapplings. We used a traditional pto driven bush hog on a tractor for some of the smaller ones but these larger pine trees were too much for our pto driven bush hog but no match for the skid steer rotary mower. We have been very impressed by this machine and it's abilities. Having operated a high flow ca...
Skid Steer Rotary Brush Cutter Mowing thick privitt bush

Chipper LLC Tree Service using our Skid Steer Rotary Brush Cutter to mow area overrun with thick chinese privitt. This is what these mowers excell at. Most videos for these machines show them doing cake jobs but this is what they are for, super thick brush, vines and saplings, stuff that's 5" or less in diameter. Brush that's too much for a tractor and bush hog is nothing to this machine. These...

Spar top let it run.AVI

Chipper LLC - Tree Service Alpharetta & Cumming GA. This is an example of using a "spar" (support) tree on a large tree removal job to rope the top of an adjacent tree to the ground. In this case the area underneath the tree being worked on had a dogwood (an ornamental flowering tree) that we wanted to avoid damaging. So we selected a tall tree out in the open that also needed to be removed and...

Chipper LLC a Professional Tree Service performing tree removal. Video shows how to use a "spar" tree to lower tree limbs to the ground with ropes to avoid damaging the surrounding trees. We use a spar tree when we need to remove a tree but there are obstacles underneath the tree we are removing. This technique is used where multiple trees are being removed. A "spar" tree is a stout tree that c...

    the operator of that machine has NO idea what he's doing. AND - the machine he's using is completely inadequate to run the brush cutter. i hope the property owner didn't pay more than a $100 to get this job done.

    Love the video man! Gave me a good idea on what the tracks are like there. I just bought as 125cc bike and i'm taking it up there this week. I have been a quad rider my whole life and i'm really good at riding them but i'm trying something different with this bike.

    I found that if I run with the front of the mower about 3' high and the rear near the ground I can go through the brush without bogging and still get a low cut. I have a video on my channel of me running a home made brush hog this way and it does not stall.

    Standard flow works fine for what I am doing. Can clear a couple acres per day of saplings and brush. I tend to do a lot of work on steep slopes and running skid steer on high flow makes undercarraige weaker as it is diverting power to attachment. I have ran both. High flow is faster but undercarriage weaker and high flow mower is more money

  • @ChipperLLC
    @ChipperLLC 12 лет назад

    My skid steer puts out 20 GPM so if you put a 21 GPM pump you will get the same results. 20 GPM equates to about 30 PTO horsepower. Driving right off the PTO is stronger and more efficient but running hydraulics lets you tilt the mower and do things you couldn't do with a rigid PTO shaft. My 40 HP farm tractor will run circles around my skid steer cutter in grass and weeds but the skid steer mower will chew up six inch diameter saplings that my farm tractor and bush hog could not cut.

  • @ChipperLLC
    @ChipperLLC 12 лет назад

    It was several years old and brittle so it chewed it up pretty well. We had several older brush piles on the property and it really condensed the size of them down.

  • @flyinasscritter

    @beyondupnorth yup i am going to get a brush hog for my takeuchi tl130 but having a regular brush hog would be nice for open areas.

  • @beyondupnorth
    @beyondupnorth 13 лет назад

    @flyinasscritter A hi flow skidsteer paired with a matching cutter would help a lot in maintaining the speed. Imo the rear beauty of the hydraulic drive is that the gearbox last much longer because of the hydraulic cushin. A tractor will have full engine hp to drive the cutter,in some instances that is a plus and in others it is not

  • @ChipperLLC
    @ChipperLLC 13 лет назад

    You are correct that a tractor and PTO mower is the correct tool for open areas without a lot of trees. The skid steer brush mowers are for cutting thick underbrush and hard to reach areas. For large grassy areas a pto mower is king. If you have saplings and underbrush the skid steer rotary cutter rules.

  • @flyinasscritter
    @flyinasscritter 13 лет назад

    Looks like it runs out of momentum when chopping. Sorry to say but a standard pto brush hog on a 60 hp tractor would mow circles around that. Especially in an open area without alot of trees. But skid steer brush hogs do have advantages. Like overhead mowing. Not a bad vid though

    Nice that the saw stalls during the back cut and he restarts the saw so fast you almost don't see it. Not a technical tree removal but the backdrop looks cool
