A calm walk up hills, across farm lands among sheep, and along country roads with scenic views within Exmoor National Park.
Here in part two we begin from the well known "Tarr Steps" landmark, a basic bridge of stone slabs known as a 'clapper' bridge, finishing in the small Somerset village of Withypool.
The term 'clapper' originates from the Latin word 'claperius' meaning 'pile of stones'. The large stone slabs of the Tarr Steps are around 2 tons each.
It is a rustic but effective method of constructing a simple bridge, without use of cement or sophisticated arches.
There are theories regarding its age ranging from several hundred to several thousand years.
