A system where high throttle input, ie foot to the floor or nearly to the floor that engages a VTEC setting would be way more useful and would probably revolutionise torque in low displacement engines

You first hear the secondary intake runners opening, THEN the VTEC. With no ITBs people often mix up the secondaries with VTEC as the engine has noticeable extra intake noise when they open up.

This is porbably the best sounding 6 cyl ever, better than porsche! Better than flat v8s? Possibly, I'd say it's preference but this sounds more unique and angrier than a ferrari v8.

variable timing can be done on any combustion engine. The vtec has outdated mechanics that can be easily outperformed by a simple engine control unit.
