Thank you Mother Earth, I think you would be proud that your children have FINALLY grown up and left the nest for the last time. It time to come home to heaven and rest. To the end of time and beyond you will be welcome and admired what you have done.
I like how he speaks to the AI, not like it's a servant but more like a friend or child.
cerry film
I'm sorry that the ending is so condensed and consists of quick scenes. We haven't been shown much of this series yet. Now, of course, times are completely different and not everything will be interesting. But such an overview scene could be stretched out over an entire season. Just one episode per series would be great. It’s a pity that no one allocated funds for this; people are more interested in football.
This is one of the best classic alien tv shows. Way ahead of it’s time and it’s producers just knew enough facts and myths to create this show. It came too close to the truth and got removed from airing on television.
The only thing that took it off TV was low ratings.
The last twinkle of Mr eye. Goes out. But not forgotten, john.
I'm here again, john.
Excellent sci-fi.... once you suspend disbelief. Only criticism is the introduction of 'Juliet Stewart' AKA gun-toting psychobabe - series loses focus, especially with Loengard on absurd special forces operations in Vietnam and Russia.
I remember the first time I saw this part, I was still really young and just felt sad that the Earth was going away because I didn't really understand the more hopeful message. It would take another ten years before I saw this episode again and fully comprehended what they were showing us. Things end, but they also continue.
John Sheridan is the one now!
Thanks for sharing, great show! 👍
So Garibaldi was responsible for the end of the world with the Great Burn?! 🤔😎
No, the Earth survives the Great Burn and the monks in the next sequence are helping to rebuild. The final sequence is the Earth going nova from some shenanigans by someone.
@@steveaustin2686 Right, but that ruse his hologram pulled led to the Great Burn.
@@glennhubbard5008 Of course it did, it was right there in full color when Garibaldi screwed over the scientist to start the war that lead to the Great Burn. But the Earth survives as Brother Alywn is a secret Ranger helping the Earth rebuild in the next sequence.
@@Address_Unknown-ur8sp The character collecting all the records and who turns into a ball of light at the end, has a Ranger symbol on his ship too.
@@Address_Unknown-ur8sp You're welcome.
The Earth could blow up now fall all I care. I would do nothing to facilitate it or stop were I to have the power. Since 2000, humanity has gone backwards...badly. And worse - most people do not even seem to realize it. Or understand why - even though the answers are right before their eyes. Great episode from a wonderful series. Thank you for posting it. ☮
One million years, and neither the human body nor the english language and alphabet has changed.
TV convention that another language is seemlessly translated for the audience. The humans 1M years in the future are energy beings and can make themselves look however they want. Since they view Sheridan and Delenn with such reverence, its not surprising they chose that form.
So wait, it's the year 10 billion, we've basically turned into the Vorlons. And this guy is using a computer with a UI from a 1990s cash machine. Wow.
It's called "retro". 😂
@@petermopp2639 Exactly
This show deserves reboot.... It will be absolutely sick!
Wasn't it known back then (when B5 was made) that the Sun is not even CLOSE to being able to go nova?
The B5 author address this in a letter: Basically Sol exploded because it was actually destroyed by something or someone (probably as result of a war) and that affect the sun in a way that evetually made the star unstable, forcing humanity to relocate to a new world (New Earth). He also explain that New Earth is actually the Vorlon homeworld that humanity is now (a million of years into the future) is in a position to inherit.
What RenBR said. Not to mention the computer mentions atypical solar emissions at the end, so giving point to what RenBR said.
Wait Sol went Nova in a million years?! To quote Hagrid: "That's been tampered with that has!"
The computer mentions atypical solar emissions at the end.
I like how Ascension appears in this & Stargate as the full evolution of sentient life
So much potential wasted... Sun sold their souls to the devil, I don't blame them but man...
It would be safe to assume now that Lorien's Planet, and the former Vorlon Homeworld are now under the caretakership of the advanced humans. We had to reach the point where we ourselves would need encounter suits before Lorien and the Vorlon's Homework would allow us to be there. And with that, it also implies that perhaps we have advanced even further than the "Old Ones". At this point we probably have interdimensional capability, phased hyperspace, completely organic spacecraft who literally are an extension of their operator, and have either colonized, or at least explored every single world in the Milky Way galaxy. Also, immortality or at least vastly longer lifespans have been achieved. Possibly intergalactic travel, and they are also either in contact with Lorien and all the first ones, or have started actively to join them beyond the rim. Perhaps Lorien has spent the time teaching the old ones like the Shadows and Vorlon to accept we would become equals and work with them spreading peace and knowledge to the younger ones. As they had once done for us until they lost their way.
Lorien was hanging out on Z'ha-dum and Lyta triggers a doomsday device when they go visit after the Shadow and Earth Civil War.
Human encounter suit is badass
This just popped up in my RUclips feed. Strange how it never occured to me before now, as many times as I've enjoyed this episode...the Sun dying in 1 million years?...and as a supernova to boot? Neither is the actual fate of our star. It will begin bloating in about 5-6 BILLION years as the majority of it's hydrogen is fused into helium, shed it's outer layers at about 6-7 billion years as nebule, ending up as a white dwarf, not a supernova, and finally after trillions of years, fading into a black rock of dense materials. (Yeah, I hadda look all this up to be sure, but I knew from the get-go the premise was off...and don't gimme that 'They did some stuff to the Sun that changed it' argument; what'd they do, combine it with several other Sol-class stars to make it DENSER and thereby shorten it's life-span? Whyyy?...) All that said, I still enjoyed the hell out of the series...AND this episode. I await with bated breath the animated film and series reboot that JMS will be helming.
Thousands of Jumpgates oppened inside the sun it was a attack by a enemy race.

Damn that I Love it this End my friends. Thanks.
Would have made an excellent episode finale . Sadly we got S5 which tried to outdo S4 and i think S 4 set the bar to high and WB canceled the show after S5 . Kind of like the MCU after end game...still trying to milk it
The writer wrote the whole series into four seasons. This was originally the planned series finale. However, WB wanted another season or more. Unfortunately, Season 5 was nowhere near as good as the original four seasons, which is why the series was cancelled after season five.
@@echolocationn wrong he wrote the series as 5 seasons, but WB told they only got for, so he ended all major arcs in the 4 season, then TNT picked the show and he finished with the season 5.
The story was to run for 5 seasons. When the PTEN stations fell apart, that blew up the distribution, so WB cut the last season. JMS ran the series about 4 eps faster in Season 4 to cram in the end of the Earth Civil War and they filmed the finale "Sleeping in Light". When TNT picked up Babylon 5, "Sleeping in Light" was moved to the end of Season 5 and "Deconstructon of Falling Stars" was the first ep filmed for Season 5, so it could air as the last ep of Season 4. If Claudia Christian had hung around, I think her agent tried a power play and failed, she would have taken Lyta's place with the Teeps. The Telepath War was already foreshadowed and likely would have been explored more in Crusade, if TNT had not cancelled that.
Assuming that English language which appeared some 1500 years ago out of hundreds of thousand years of human history will be there after millions of years at the end of time is the most arrogant assumption there could be.
Different languages are translated into the current language as a story telling convention. It's much easier for subtle meanings to be passed to the audience. In the series, Delenn meets Lennier just outside the docking area. They are talking amoungst themselves, so would be conversing in Minbari. But English is used for the reasons given above. Same for any of the other aliens when conversing amoungst themselves.
Keeping the Promise made to the 1st !!!
If they every do a live action Futurama, this actor would make a great Lars.
Stand between the candle and the star.
Why would he need an encounter suit tho??
Because they are the Vorlons of the future, guiding the younger races.
I kinda love how he had to gently persuade the AI to go: it clearly was worried he might linger too long. It was kind of cute in a way. Here we have an ascended human, a non-corporeal AI system that can move on its own... and his ship. Three different kinds of life that came from humanity. We became one, we built another, and we grew the third. Together, they are also humanity, because anything we make with intelligence is effectively our children. We just have to recognize it.
AI that can move we already had in 1983 built into car. Now 40 years later Siri still doesn’t understand me :(
@@sebaszwarc give it another million years of development like they did. Lol
so if we bioengineer bacteria, they are humanity? :D
It's good to see that the Earth Alliance survived for over 1 million years.
There is a Ranger symbol on his ship. The Earth Alliance fell apart before the Great Burn. Something of the Instellar Alliance is still around though.
this ending blew my mind, too. This is absolutely one of the BEST SciFi ending ever.. followed by Watchmen ending.
If this creepy ass Kane motherfucker is the future of humanity I say nuke us all now.
I both liked the episode .. but the whole only 1 million years? Sorry the Sun will never Nova (merely expand) and 1 million years will be a blip. Yeah, it fits the writing better and still a great episode. Just have to ignore that lol.
I think peoples did it, like the the last tracsebd
That is a plot point. The computer mentions atypical solar emissions. Someone else caused the Sun to supernova.
"Whether it's in a hundred years, or a thousand years, or a million years, one day our Sun will grow cold, and go out. And when that happens... all this, all of it, was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars."
yip but is manking mentally mature enought to do so withought being invaded or shot or tortured I mean right now it sounds good but I don`t think mankind is ready for thats yet were still I mean the human race not all but still in its infancy age, but maybe someday safely.
Everything ends.., It's meaning is for the time of it's existence and is not lessened by the fact that it ends.
Sadly it won't be quite as dramatic as it was in B5. It'll be roughly 5 billion years before the sun eventually cool down and expands. So we've got plenty of time to do what we have to do to evolve. (And yes, I looked all this up!! LOL )
@@Orion_New-Age_Music Actuallly the Sun expands slowly throughout it's main sequnce life. In 500 million years, its luminosity will have increased by 20 percent... more than the Earth's biosphere can adapt to and Earth will experience a Runaway Greenhouse effect and become once again a true sister to Venus.
This is definitely one of those episodes you appreciate when you're older. I was a kid when I first watched and I did not get what was happening at all, it was my least favorite episodes for years
A piece of obscure history
Why the need for Human suit? Unless humans have altered the evolution of other species to be seen as angels or gods. For this the Vorlons hid their shape in the suits.
The future Humans and Minbari are guiding the new, younger races.
I never understood Sheldon Cooper's hatred of this show. It was really great. 😁
sheldon was a star trek nerd and this show was in a way in conflict with DS9 because the theme was identical, i for one loved both shows but if i were to choose a favourite babylon 5 will always be my top sci fi series
Because BBT is CBS, owner of Star Trek. B5 was competition from Warner (now Warner Bros Discovery).
They gotta do a reboot, it would be absolutely sick!
He was still butt hurt over Firefly sucking balls.
Someone or something must have caused the sun to explode in seconds. Because a nova star doesn't happen like that. (or a super nova for that matter). But I won't get into it. The scene itself is still touching.
The computer mentions atypical solar emissions. Someone else caused the Sun to supernova.
I've watched this literally a dozen times and just now noticed the ranger symbol on his ship.
I get emotional every time I see this scene. I cried towards the end. It went out on top
Terrible special effects, I had forgotten. But I loved the show back in 97 when it first aired. Too bad this show was cancelled. I was really getting into it back in the day. A nice alternative to the X-Files. And obviously cashing in on the success of Independence Day and X-Files, as well as the big UFO conspiracy industry of the time. Boy was I into it big time.
Better effects than X-Files had at the time. X Files just avoided showing the aliens instead.
I'm watching the series and the effects are very good - aliens, spacecraft, glanglion... etc., top-notch. Some special effects of that time can ruin a film/TV programme, but not this.
How bout nooooooooo!
But Sol won't go nova. Too small.
It was the 90s, I don't think they'd knew that the sun would've likely grown to be a red giant within the next 4.4 billion years in the future.
The B5 author address this in a letter: Basically Sol exploded because it was actually destroyed by something or someone (probably as result of a war) and that affect the sun in a way that evetually made the star unstable, forcing humanity to relocate to a new world (New Earth). @@Hardrian_Hardrada_Cicero No, it was a plot point. The computer mentions atypical solar emissions. Someone else caused the Sun to supernova. They knew well before the 1990s that the Sun has about 5 billion years to go.
When I first saw this, I remember thinking; 'wow, we made it!'
It always bugged me. A million years in our future, who knows how many millions of years in the future of the first ones, and we're all still using Gates.
I doubt the english language will survive for so long.
Dude! I want to turn into pure energy and walk around in an unnecessary encounter suit! "You are the blue leaf. You are a voice on the wind that carries the seed." *Muahahahaahahahaha, that poor schmuck will thinking about what I actually meant for months. Noob.*
The future Humans and Minbari are guiding the new, younger races, like the Vorlons did before. Hence the encounter suit.
