The Problem With Rehydration Clauses In Boxing
Maybe it identified as unpasteurised🤷🏼
Maybe they do, but my colon says otherwise!
Thanks for that Pete bloody good to know, but what were you doing looking at the sausage rolls section in the fridge. 😆
I promise I was only looking! No sausage rolls went into my shopping trolley 🤣
Hahaha mint, sauerkraut butty’s for tea
Prefer that or weetabix?
@ What about sauerkraut on weetabix
@@alexmurphyboxingfitness4530 I think you've just changed the game, Murph.
You like running? You a serial killer or something? Also im trying to get better at running so i dont die of a heart attack before my child is an adult, and trying to keep lifting heavy things, cause lifting is fun. Only psychopaths like running
I trained for a sub 20 5k last summer. I got it on my 2nd race after 12 weeks of training. Running 2 speed days was the key for me. Measuring your times and splits will help a lot. You can do it!
That's insane, awesome work! Can I ask what your time was initially before the 12 weeks of training? That's made me feel much more confident! Definitely need to work at different speeds and learn to embrace the slow ones.
A hard effort run was around 23:30 minutes before training sub 20. I had some weight to drop too. I’m 48 years old & have been running consistently for years.
@ ok awesome, I’ve not tried a quick 5k yet but suspect I could do about 24-25 mins right now, so not a million miles away. That consistency you’ve had though will play a big part I’m sure. Thanks a lot 🙌

Thanks Tom, have to go for a run together if you fancy it? 🤝

Thanks a lot Steve 😃🤝
What about weight cutting?
You can play it safe and take creatine out a week before the weigh-in, but the research isn't actually clear on whether or not it causes much water retention (much to my own and many others disbelief!)
my muscles become tight after using creatine and i drink enough water please tell me what should i do
Do you get cramp? Or do they just feel tighter?
instructions un-clear, ate a whole bed sheet.

@@trueblue7181 no problem!
Sir can I you use creatine 3gm per day forever for boxing 🥊
Providing you have healthy kidneys, I would say so. Always check with your doctor first please mate.
Do you have to cycle on and off of it? And can you take it before a fight?
No there's no need to cycle on and off. It can definitely be beneficial for a fight.
Same day weigh in = problem solved.
Completely appreciate what you're saying! What tends to happen though is that boxers still cut weight for them, making it even more dangerous. I should add I'm not saying this is right, I'm just stating what happens.
♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
@petejamesbell to you
Respect thank you
No problem 👍
'Promo SM'
Liked and fully watched. You desperately need S M Zeus.
What is that sorry mate?
True. I hope in future the weigh will be only on the fighting day. And only 1 kg diffrence is allowed
Unfortunately boxers still try to cut weight for same day weigh-ins, making it just as dangerous if not more. Tricky one!
This was an excellent explanation of the rehydration clause,💯 This video was very informative, 💯 "the best I've heard thus far".👍👍👍👍👍
Appreciate that! Thanks.
Good info bro I’m a creator too an I couldn’t never speak about this til now ❤❤❤
Thanks a lot, appreciate it!
As science and medicine improves, so does dropping water weight while maintaining electrolyte balance. This has gives much larger boxers an advantage. Boxers ballooning to their regular weight are essentially boxing at a higher weight class against a lower weight class. You cited the danger of the bigger fighter not fully rehydrating while ignoring the danger of a much smaller fighter boxing someone in a different weight class. Rehydration clauses are a check on the actual weight disparities. If a boxer’s ability is affected by the rehydration clause, then he’s boxing at to low a weight. That is, he’s a weight bully; he needs to move up to the next weight class.
Yeah, completely appreciate what you've said here mate. Makes sense.
Then those fighters should move to a different weight class if they have to go to the extremes to meet the weight req
That's a very fair point!
It only takes 2 hours for the body to fully rehydrate 😂
You're confusing liquid rehydration with boxing "rehydration"; this means gaining back between 10-15lbs of weight by eating/drinking and sleeping to let your body digest and recover to avoid the chances of excess bloating and stomach cramps. Rehydrating within 2 hours in the way you think is vastly different than what happens in combat sports after weigh-in. Trying to rehydrate in such a short amount of time is dangerous and inefficient.
Not after doing a weight cut dufus 😂
Unfortunately this isn't the case. It depends how much someone has cut of course. But 2 hours is not a long time to rehydrate.
Garcia a bigger fighter wanted to fight tank. and tank being the champ it only make sense for him to use this so things are at least on the same level.
No belts were on the line for their fight, dufus 😂... Also, Tanks been a champ at 140 but fought Garcia at 137 catch weight... So suddenly he couldn't fight with natural 140 pounders despite being a champ there before? Yaaaaa right. It's all just excuses for him to gain an advantage over a guy who's power he was worried about.
How about Tyson Fury weight at 270 lbs. as a heavyweight. Deontay Wilder at 240 lbs. at heavyweight. There is no fairness as a heavyweight; there should be catch weight there too.
Actually it was 238 vs 278.
Weight certainly isn't everything, but it can be beneficial!
I think that the problem is a bigger fighter cutting weight to go down weight classes to fight guys who are naturally that size. If a guy is walking around and training at 160lbs and fights a guy who walks around at 145 and they are fighting at 140 who has the obvious weight advantage? So the rehydration clause only hurts the bigger fighter. It's dangerous so maybe fight at your natural weight.
Which should lead any reasonable person to ask? Are you a 130 fighter or a 135 fighter a 140 fighter a 150 fighter etc. box in your weight class or stop complaining … tank ask Ryan four times. Are you a 135 fighter or not and Ryan never answered the question. He wants to go up to 140 is what he’s telling everyone but guess what he’s going to struggle to make that weight also because there are times he weighs 180 pounds and he definitely don’t want to fight at 1:50 too much talent up there
@@franklynthree yup! Just because you fought at 135 when you were 13 doesn't mean you have to stay there as an adult. Ryan is too tall and heavy to fight at this weight class and it showed. But if he fights at his natural weight class he might get hurt.
Just don't cut that much weight, dummy
Manny Pacquiao has fought at catchweights rehydration causes for years just a advantage for the A side fighter who also picks gloves / ring size etc.
Catchweight only no rehydration clause gayweather invented thatvrehydrarion clause
@@RVGWAPOGayweather also paid opponents millions extra if they'd let him choose their gloves, which would obviously let him choose the cushiest gloves.
@@RVGWAPO??? Mayweather fought with a rehydration clause? Which opponents?
Night night Ryan 💤
Perfect said danny man, who wants to fight somebody who is not in your wight class.. but because everybody likes to cheat, I'm with this. How can you say I gone to fight at this weight, then go back and be much heavier than your opponent, means you're a cheater
Both fighter are subject to the clause is what ignorant fans don't know
In a perfect world where both guys are the same size this logic works. But in the case of Ryan vs Tank? Ryan is the much bigger guy who would be depleted and Tank would be at home.
@@MrAlkatrazrap101 Tank still would’ve won that fight tho bro
@@MrAlkatrazrap101Doesn’t matter. If Ryan lost in the 7th round how much better do you think he would be? 😂😂 hold that L just like Haney holding the L.
@@MrAlkatrazrap101then why fight smaller guys ?
@@MrAlkatrazrap101Ik that tank was the biggest draw at the time, but that’s on Ryan for trying to drop 20 pounds not knowing how that’ll affect his body
But I think he can drink and eat after second weigh in right?. Inside the ring also he can drink water. I think he can gain his energy back.
Yea in the ring after they give him a slice of pizza or something like that lol
I think u need 24 hours at least or what ever u can’t do it in couple of hours
Fighters should fight in their own weight class with checkins 4 times a year to make sure their always within 5-10 pounds max Ridiculous fighters dropping 30-50 pounds for weighins n then rehydrates to gain most of it back. Sure their speed & ⛽️ gas may be affected but once u able to clinch thats where it starts. Small shots, mini uppercuts, accidental back head strikes, all of these become advantageous when u alot heavier to generate more power, suddenly they became more damaging then usually when u fight lighter guys. Not to nention in clinch ups if they taller then u they can force their weight layin ontop of u. Next u gotta consider bigger weight difference means they may become more durable in absorbing shots to the body.
If one cheat u better cheat find ways to win
It don’t matter, who wants to fight somebody 20 pounds heavier than them
The same people putting the clause be over 20 lbs themselves
Gervonta to look good
Manny Pacquiao fought at catch weights rehydration clauses for years
Heavyweights fight people much heavier
The other fighter is hydrating too
This is going to be Ryan Garcia excuse when he fight tank 😂
Is this really funny or is that your favorite emoji?
The fuck does it matter to you ?
Honestly if u fight will fasting vs while ur not u will lose when ur fasting cuz ur tired and no energy so yea I feel like it’s like 40 percent of why u would lose a fight … I fast Ramadan so I know how it feels vs other days when I’m not fasting
Thank you.
