We’re traveling to Marie Joseph in Nova Scotia to see if anything at all still exists of this 165 year old disaster. I came across this disaster while researching my documentary on the wreck of the Hungarian in early 1860. But, when I started looking into the Indian, I saw that there was absolutely nothing that fully told its story. When I t...

Can you do the Glenesslin too?
I’ll prioritize that one!
And this all happened at night in the AM.
Fantastic animation work 👍
Who needs cable when we have Tom! Great work as usual, brother!
These animations have advanced so much over the years. It's remarkable. They seriously put some big-budget documentaries to shame.
Very well agreed
The key reason for this is that the animations here are being made out of a love of the subject matter rather than mere obligation.
nice
No running lights in the fog?? But it is beautiful to see her this way. Wish we could have saved her.
Too much reading. Please narrate.
Then you should watch the actually documentary this goes with - it goes into further detail and is narrated.
Anyone know any songs Similar to these I love old folk songs
11:36 they had a fire going in wind and rain??
WOOOOOOOOOOw
I'm so glad you released this as a full vid. Beautiful version of one of my favourite songs!
Phenomenal work. And what a tragic story.
This is such a boutiful and heart touching song. I love it, and this lady plays it perfectly
At 5:17, for anyone wondering the short answer, the engineer was aware of the work on the bridge but the company didn't have a policy about posting anything along the rails to warn trains. Leading up to the accident there was a gradient and the engineer had opened the throttle to tackle it.
What was the music used in this video?
What a beautiful melody. It fit the documentary so well! I have to say, of the handful of renditions that are on RUclips, this is by far the best of them.
Simply beautiful.
The film about the SS Hungarian is your best yet, and this song is the icing on the cake.
Love this
Excellenta!
I was dearly hoping you'd share the full song :) I loved it in the doc
This song was the most emotional part of the documentary, what a sad story this song tells. Here's some lyrics I found on the internet for anyone who wants to follow along: 'Twas hard, our parting, mother dear, It gave you untold pain; But hope was strong within our hearts That we should meet again. There's health upon my cheek once more, And in my eye new light 'Twill all be quench in Ocean's gloom, For Lizzie dies tonight! Lizzie dies tonight, mother, Lizzie dies tonight. I've been so happy, mother dear, When brightest summer smiled, The friends who love me far away Have guarded well your child; They've brought me almost back again To you and home's delight But I will never see you more, For Lizzie dies tonight! Lizzie dies tonight, mother, Lizzie dies tonight. -I'm thinking, mother, of the time- -When little Willie died,- -We laid him down with bursting hearts,- -My father's tomb beside.- -'Twas then you feared my tender form- -Would vanish from the light,- -But ah! my grave is 'neath the wave,- -For Lizzie dies tonight!- -Lizzie dies tonight, mother, Lizzie dies tonight.- I know you're dreaming, mother dear, Of all these dangers passed; Perhaps you'll never know how hard Death came to me at last. I'm almost in your arms again, God make your burden light! I never more can cheer your heart, For Lizzie dies tonight! Lizzie dies tonight, mother, Lizzie dies tonight.
Love these old songs. Beutiful voice.
Excellent, but the titles don’t stay on the screen long enough to read them completely, shame!
I totally didn't expect this amount of attention to this
I love ships built in this era. Large iron and steel behemoths that retain the majestic lines and beautiful clipper-bows and rigging of their ancestors. It was a time when the bridge was just that: a bridge over the deck. The perfect aesthetic blend of sailing and steam, culminating with Inman's _City_ liners. If I was wealthy enough to afford a superyacht, I'd point at something like _Hungarian, City of Rome, etc._ and say "Build me something like this. Four masts, Barque rigged, clipper bow, minimal deck structure, two decorative funnels, balanced performance motoring or sailing. She needs to look as if she sailed straight out of a tin-type."
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. As a VFX artist, my hat is really off to you guys on this one. The animation and the CINEMATOGRAPHY here are top notch. This is immersive and horrifying...but, a service to history just the same.
I'm so happy that i have a 4k screen...
Simply amazing. The main documentary was incredibly done as well ☕️
Very impressed . This was wonderful. Thank you so much . Awesome 👌
Absolutely stunning work , gripping and terrifying, what must that have been like? RIP the poor souls who couldn’t be saved .
This animation is absolutely incredible, the quality is exceptional. While I was watching the main documentary on the big TV screen, my Dad walked in during the coal barge scene and asked how anyone was able to get live action footage of a ship which sunk in 1860. THAT’S how real this animation looks.
These shots are truly exceptional. You should consider doing tutorials! You really get the most out of unreal engine.
You should post your Milwaukee Clipper reel!
Great work
This looks like the 1951 Lionel Transit that I still have. Thank you for sharing your animations with the fans. 💋
Wonderful work, Thomas, Alex, and Bob. 💋
Excellent work! Thank you.
I love it, you do wonderful work. Thank you for sharing your passion. 💋
This is a real service to history - my compliments both to the producer and to the artists who executed this work. It is easily realistic enough to draw the viewer in and convey the horror...while merciful enough to not be FULLY realistic with regard to the human beings. The sea is not a benign environment, and this is a reminder that disaster has always (and still does) stood ready to turn mistakes into disasters.
Nice Animation! +1 Sub
All this happened because the usage of coal was exaggerated.
"First Lady Of The Seas" No, that title goes to the British liner docked at Long Beach. The American built ljner; United States, is going to be a reef for fish.
Ive got nothing but huge respect for this stunning piece of animation. Very well done! I also really appreciate the choice of music as this piece of Master and Commander perfectly reflects the chaos, desperation and glooming death everyone involved must have felt. Keep it up!
Titanic next?
I was only 9 when we sailed aboard the SSUS . After leaving NY we experienced some thick fog out on the ocean , and the 2 tone fog horns sounded every few seconds . I thought the ship was lost and the fog horns were a signal to receive help.
Thank you for bringing her back to life. Beautiful.
💋
Действительно красивый корабль
Tom, I hope one day we get to see her sail again. Thanks for making this animation.
