Egyptian Arabic | Lesson 46 - What is his/her name?
This lesson teaches the word "esm," meaning "name," by asking: "What is his name?", "What is her name?", and "What are their names?"
We do this by trying something new... Looking through story books based on popular movies and characters. We hope these are familiar to most people, and that it will be a fun lesson to watch!
Other new vocabulary words are also introduced, such as "Ameer" and "Ameera," meaning "prince" and "princess," and "kakaw," meaning "cocoa" or "hot cocoa" (or "hot chocolate"). Additionally, we teach "gameelah," meaning "beautiful" (female), and "waħsh," meaning "beast" or "monster."

Egyptian Arabic | Lesson 45 - Numbers, part 3: Counting from 11 to 13
Просмотров 3633 месяца назад
In this lesson we introduce numbers 11, 12, 13. While this seems like a small amount for one lesson, it is because we explain a few additional things. -We explain how nouns change once we start counting past the number 10. In Arabic, we use plural nouns when describing 3 to 10 items, but starting from the number 11, we use the singular again. So, you would say "10 apples" but "11 apple". -We al...

    How very nice to have yet another chapter in this series. Thank you so much! But I wanted to register one small disappointment: Too bad you chose to use the names "Aladdin" and "Jasmin" rather than "3alaa2 iddiin" and "yasmiin" - those English names seem incongruous in the context.

    Thank you again for your job. I'm continuing to learn Egyptian arabic with you, I think this channel is the best source I could ever find. I've got a question. I came across conflicting information. in some sources it is written that ذ in the Egyptian dialect is read as d or z, ث is read as t or s. But you speak clearly sounds ð and θ. That's why now I confused. Could you help me with it?

    • @egypticlanguage
      @egypticlanguage 3 месяца назад

      So happy this channel is helping! Yes, you’re right about the pronunciation. The reason I’m pronouncing them here is because I’m saying the words “thakar” and “unthaa” in Standard Arabic, not Egyptian. Occasionally we use Standard Arabic words while speaking in dialect. Some people still use the Egyptian pronunciation, so they would say “zakar”, and some switch to standard pronunciation.
