Guilty. I can see WHY he did what he did - his self doubt and desire to live a normal life as a straight man as a closeted gay guy - but internal strife is not enough of a good reason to forgive some for dragging an innocent person into his issues and then shattering their heart just for a sense of normalcy. He took his big problem and turned it into someone else's /bigger/ problem, and that's just not right. He's not guilty of murder because in Milgram murder itself is not a sin and he himself didn't kill her. But he is guilty of ruining someone else's life because of his internal problems. I couldn't imagine being in the wife's shoes.

There's couple of things I think are really interesting in supporting the gay theory. If you go to the goods page available on the official website, there are many acrylic stands. Kazui's stand includes a background image of his wedding cake. HOWEVER, his (groom's) figurine is facing the back with his half of the cake being chocolate while his wife's figurine is facing the front with her half being vanilla cake. (the details might be reversed) [In Japan, the pressure from society, friends, and family to get married is HUGE. Like literally you are viewed as somehow inadequate if you do not get married around 30 (both privately and at work). Especially as a man.] Also, I think it's interesting that he is clearly constrained by the social norm (always talking about being the adult), but chooses to defend Futo and not Mahiru. The societal norm would demand that as a man he protects the woman right? Though there might be other reasons for that. Kazui's hobby is judo, karate, and kendo so it makes sense that he would be able to physically defend against Kotoko (she clearly has knowledge of streetfighting) so I don't think he would be scared off after the first fight. As for the bartender theory, I think it's interesting but the video trailer for the second trial dissuaded me. The main thing about bartender/vocation related miscommunication wouldn't have happened because in the second trial voice trailer, the dissonant dialogue is an I love you clearly to his wife. That would mean his wife committed suicide just because she didn't approve of his job, and that doesn't sit quite right. Overall, I think it makes more sense that he mistook or persuaded himself that his very dear friendship with his wife was a love that was the exception to his sexuality. He may have tried to open his sexuality to his wife under that assumption just to be understood/seen. (Bisexuality is kind of weird in eastern culture. As in, it's perceived as 'YOU ARE GAY/SLUT', and just able to have sex with any gender. but you are really just GAY.) The fact that his wife realized the relationship was never quite reciprocal is a more understandable reason for her reaction.

what she did is quite understandable. its like Light from Death Note, you can't really blame them. the only thing she did wrong here is to punish them right after the first trial. if she did this after the result of the third trial then maybe less people would complaint because the we didn't even know everyone's full story yet. whether they are guilty or not is not even certain yet.
